Bang! Bang! Bang! 0

Xiar lay on the ground, his body numb from the brutal impact, completely unconscious. The pain had faded away, and his senses began to dull, leaving him only with a faint awareness of his heartbeat. 0

"Am I going to die...?" 0

As his heartbeat slowed, blood circulation became obstructed, and his consciousness grew weaker, as if he were walking on cotton, lost in an empty void. 0

Images from the past flashed through his mind—vivid memories from a previous life, along with recollections of growing up and working. 0

Amidst the countless scenes, one particular casual game emerged, each image freezing in place before transforming into an overwhelming wave of impactful visuals. 0

Countless pieces of information crashed over him like rolling waves, instantly drowning him. Xiar vaguely saw the images and felt a sudden jolt in his heart. 0

"This is... the database..." 0

Under this torrent of sensations, a sliver of his fading consciousness flickered back to life. He struggled to open his eyes, but his eyelids felt as heavy as iron doors, refusing to budge. 0

"I don't want to die!" 0

"I just crossed over; I haven't seen enough of this amazing world!" 0

"Mom and Dad, I miss you so much. This world is too dangerous; I want to go back!" 0

"Wait! I still have the Evolution Modulator—White Spirit!" 0

Ding! 0

A familiar translucent interface appeared before him. Xiar focused his thoughts and directly locked onto the physical attribute section. 0

The Evolution Points began to rapidly decrease, dropping by a point, while his physical attribute only increased by 0.1. 0

At the same time, a warm current started to flow throughout his body, giving him the illusion of soaking in a hot spring. 0

The physical attribute represented the body's overall immunity to viruses and bacteria, adaptability to harsh environments, and recovery ability from injuries. 0

Most of the Evolution Points had been used to repair his body, allowing his injuries to heal at an astonishing speed, even the fractured bones being drawn back together by some unseen force. 0

"Does this mean that as long as I have enough Evolution Points, I could recover even from severed limbs or being cut in half!?" 0

Xiar felt a shock; if what he thought was true, he might very well possess immortality in the future! 0

Unfortunately, after spending three Evolution Points, his body barely regained its ability to move. He didn't experience a miraculous revival but felt more like someone recovering from a severe illness—weak and frail. 0

From this deduction, it seemed that regenerating severed limbs would likely require an immense amount of points, possibly exceeding three digits! 0

Once his nerve perception returned, he suddenly felt something furry pressed tightly against his cheek, making him feel itchy. He hurriedly opened his eyes. 0

"Meow..." 0

A soft, squirming sound came from the creature, as if it were playfully nuzzling against his cheek, extending a delicate pink tongue to lick him. 0

"Fox?" 0

Xiar rose in surprise, staring at it. The creature's form vaguely overlapped with the blurry figure he had seen earlier, prompting him to exclaim, "Fox, was it you who saved me?" 0

Upon closer inspection, he noticed that this white fox was entirely snow-white, without a hint of any other color. Under the moonlight, it shimmered with a faint halo, and its eyes sparkled like sapphires, radiating brilliance. 0

After he woke up, the white fox did not flee; instead, it sat upright, its elongated Fox Eyes fixed steadily on him, creating an illusion of a refined Fox Spirit. 0

The previous monster had been so terrifying that he had no idea how he had survived. This fox appeared so soft and adorable, far more charming than a lapdog, and it was hard to believe it could pose any threat. 0

Upon hearing his question, the fox tilted its head and looked at him with an almost human-like curiosity, clearly unable to understand his words. 0

Xiar reached out and gently stroked its head. The fox did not shy away; instead, it leaned into his hand affectionately. 0

It felt as if he were touching the finest silk. He stood up and looked around but saw no sign of the monster—only a scene of chaos left behind. 0

Who exactly saved me? 0

Xiar felt increasingly puzzled. Although he had shot an arrow that struck the creature's eye, the arrow had not been poisoned and could not have caused a fatal injury. 0

In those moments when he was on the brink of death, he seemed to have glimpsed something extraordinary. Yet now, no matter how hard he tried, he could not recall it. Instead, his head throbbed painfully, forcing him to abandon the effort. 0

This crisis made him fully aware of the dangers of this world. Even three powerful warriors could not guarantee his safety, which only strengthened his desire to possess a totem and become powerful quickly. 0

Unfortunately, the dead could not be revived. 0

Xiar felt a deep sense of guilt in his heart. He sighed and waved goodbye to the white fox. "Thank you for protecting me, Fox. I'm going back now, take care of yourself." 0

He vaguely sensed that it was likely this creature that had saved him. However, without becoming a totem, he could not possess the strange abilities. What exactly had happened? 0

"Meow!" 0

Suddenly, the fox jumped onto his lap and rubbed its head against his leg. Xiar pointed at himself in confusion and asked, "You want to come back with me?" 0

The fox did not respond, but when he picked it up, it burrowed into his arms, nestled comfortably, and fell asleep. 0

Xiar couldn't help but feel amused and bewildered. When did he become so charming that even a strange fox would cling to him? Wait, wasn't this the injured fox from before?! 0

A memory flashed in his mind. Half a year ago, he had strolled along the edge of the forest accompanied by guards when he encountered a beautiful fox being chased by a Forest Wolf. He ordered the guards to shoot the wolf, but before he could catch the fox, it had already escaped into the woods. 0

Coughing lightly, he thought about how if it knew that his initial intention in saving it was to catch it for a beautiful scarf... 0

Xiar looked up and buried that memory deep within his mind. 0

What animal does not understand gratitude? This white fox came to repay him like a celestial fox from his past life, risking danger to protect him. In truth, he owed it a debt of gratitude. 0

"Then follow me, from now on your name will be—Firefly." Xiar's gaze softened significantly as he gently stroked the silky back of the other, setting off towards the estate guided by the position of the moon. 0

When they returned, Marcus was already waiting at the entrance of the estate. 0

"Young Master, you are the only heir of the family. I will never allow you to act recklessly like this!" Marcus said sternly, exuding a strong aura as he checked Xiar's body and sighed in relief. "You're not injured; it seems you were just overly frightened. I'll go find Old Cow to get some medicine for you. You should wash up and get some rest." 0

"Uncle Marcus, those people..." Xiar hesitated before speaking. 0

"The guard who ran off on his own has already been dealt with. A guard who abandons his master deserves to die!" 0

Marcus's tone was filled with cruelty, showing no concern for the life that had just been taken. "As for those two hunters... it is their honor to die for the Young Master. I will send someone to reward them." 0

"Don't worry, I won't tell the Master this time, but there will be no next time!" 0

"Yes, thank you, Uncle Marcus. I'm feeling very tired, so I’ll head back to sleep now." 0

Xiar lowered his head and said nothing more, once again realizing how worthless human life was in this world. 0

To survive, to live better, he could only grow stronger! 0

Unbeknownst to him, his heart was beginning to undergo a transformation... 0
