"Don't!" 0

A terrifying monster lunged at him, causing him to sit up abruptly in bed. Xiar looked around in confusion, only to realize he was dreaming. 0

"Meow!" 0

Suddenly, a soft, squirmy sound came from him. A snow-white figure was thrown high into the air by his sudden awakening, letting out an indignant cry and fixing its narrow eyes on him. 0

"Sorry, I had a nightmare." Xiar quickly reacted, reaching out to catch the creature and smoothing down its ruffled fur. The soft and smooth texture calmed him down almost instantly. He extended his hand and asked, "Firefly, would you like to be my totem?" 0

The fox tilted its head and looked at him for a moment before rubbing its head against his hand. Xiar picked it up and kissed its forehead, a broad smile on his face. "K, this is your choice; no backing out!" 0

He was certain that it was Firefly who had saved him last night. Despite its soft and adorable appearance, it undoubtedly possessed some special power with terrifying abilities that could repel that horrific monster. 0

To have enticed such an apparently harmless little red cap, which was actually a hidden Gray Wolf, felt like a significant gain for him. 0

It would serve as his current totem, and if his Evolution ability faltered in the future, he could always replace it with a gem without worry. 0

After dinner, Xiar headed straight to town and entered the courtyard, making his way to the basement. 0

Bruce took the few dull gray stones he handed over and glanced at the fox perched on his shoulder. He nodded with a smile. "To be honest, I thought you would choose the Gray Wolf or even the Forest Bear. I didn't expect you to pick an ordinary Moonlight Fox." 0

"This is fine too. The Moonlight Fox may be weaker in strength but is easier to cultivate for Evolution, allowing you to become a true Spirit Master more easily. Xiar, are you sure you want to make it your totem?" 0

"Of course, I'm sure." Xiar nodded, a flicker of doubt crossing his mind. Could it be that Bruce couldn't see Firefly's true identity either? Or had he misjudged it earlier—was the fox just an ordinary one? 0

But he kept silent about his previous encounter; he didn't want to reveal anything just yet. If he had made a mistake, he could always change it later. For now, all he needed was his first totem so he could start building up his strength exponentially! 0

"Great! Then let's get started." 0

Bruce nodded and took out a Source Crystal, from which wisps of Gray Light immediately floated out, transforming into strange runes that enveloped the white fox. 0

The fox panicked, trying to struggle, but under the opponent's powerful suppression, it was completely unable to resist and could only allow the mysterious Scan Rune to be cast upon it. 0

“Step one, use the Scan Rune for a full-body scan to uncover its internal Inheritance Blueprint.” 0

The opponent's hands moved through intricate gestures, and ribbons of Gray Light appeared, wrapping around the fox and moving in and out of its body, turning it into a massive Cocoon. 0

“Next, use the Analysis Rune for Analysis. As part of the assessment, you will manifest the Inheritance Factor yourself as the foundation for constructing the totem. Pay close attention!” 0

As the words were spoken, strange patterns emerged above the Cocoon, swirling like a nebula, dazzlingly beautiful and imbued with a mysterious melody that captivated Xiar. 0

After watching for over ten minutes, Xiar finally broke free from the mesmerizing Inheritance Factor and picked up the Feather Pen to begin writing furiously. Lines were drawn and combined into a densely packed complex pattern that covered the entire sheet of parchment. 0

It wasn't until an hour later that he finally stopped, wiped the sweat from his brow, and looked up. “Teacher, I’m done.” 0

Bruce glanced at it casually and said, “Very good. Let’s move on to the next step: constructing the totem.” 0

Xiar felt relieved; after all, he had utilized his Master Level Totem Drawing skills to express countless insights and was worried that something might be amiss. 0

However, his opponent seemed to trust him completely and did not notice anything wrong. He simply picked up the Blueprint and continued performing various gestures. 0

The gray light brightened as the Blueprint suddenly floated in mid-air, while the light cocoon containing the fox also levitated and settled above the Blueprint. 0

Xiar stared in astonishment because this was not how normal totem construction worked! 0

In the game, after analyzing the Inheritance Factor, you would place the Blueprint into a Rune Factory and then use construction runes to replicate it in bulk based on the Inheritance Factor. 0

But now, the other party had not used Rune Factory at all; it seemed they wanted to forcibly construct a totem using the flesh and blood of the fox! 0

Could the totem still possess undead characteristics under such circumstances? 0

Damn it, who is this person? How could they have such astonishing methods! 0

Under Xiar's astonished gaze, the fox let out a piercing scream as its entire body rapidly transformed and restructured, like dough being kneaded and flattened, its bones shifting and reshaping. 0

Then, a phantom slowly emerged behind the other party, exuding an extremely terrifying aura. 0

A mirror? 0

Upon seeing the appearance of the phantom, Xiar felt utterly helpless. The current situation had completely exceeded his control; the other party was not the kind of Spirit Master he was familiar with. 0

This time, it was dangerous! 0

……………… 0

Outside, a seemingly ordinary carriage stopped at the gate. A tremendously burly figure stepped out, emanating a terrifying presence akin to a humanoid Raging Bear, causing the driver Hans to feel anxious. He hurriedly stepped forward to pay his respects: “Lord Marcus, this is…” 0

“No need for pleasantries. I’m here to see what that person is capable of that has made the young master come here more than once,” Marcus said coldly, his eyes gleaming with menace, making Hans tremble in fear. 0

“The young master is the future lord of Shining Gold Town. Some unsavory characters are always trying to take advantage of him. I want them to know that anyone who dares to scheme against him should not blame me for taking their heads!” 0

“Yes, Master Marcus!” Hans grew increasingly anxious, worried that he would be blamed for encouraging the young master’s reckless behavior yesterday. 0

He knew very well that the young master could act with impunity in town because no one dared offend him even slightly. This was due to the fact that he had ruthlessly eliminated dozens of people with lightning speed, leaving the townsfolk trembling in fear of his bloody methods! 0

Behind Marcus were two imposing guards. He kicked open the tightly shut wooden door and stormed into the courtyard without a hint of restraint. 0

However, once he entered the house, he found no trace of Xiar or the other person. Furrowing his brow, he commanded, "Search for me; there must be a hidden door or secret passage here!" 0

"Yes, my lord!" 0

The two guards obeyed immediately, rummaging through the three rooms with reckless abandon. They overturned cabinets and bed boards, leaving no stone unturned, even prying up the rocky floor piece by piece. 0

Despite digging deep and searching every corner, even scratching the walls deeply in frustration, they found not a single clue. 0

Marcus's expression darkened further. According to Hans's description, the two were clearly in this courtyard; why couldn't they be found? 0

Where could they have gone? Could two living people really hide away? 0

Suddenly, footsteps echoed from outside, growing closer. A tall figure bathed in crimson entered the room and glanced at him dismissively. "Trash, get out of here." 0

"You foolish brat, are you looking for death?" 0

The frustration of not finding his young master combined with the contempt from the newcomer ignited Marcus's anger. With a roar, he swung his massive fist toward the intruder, the wind howling as it descended. 0

"I'll see which is harder: your head or my fist!" 0
