"Thank you for stepping in, sir. Otherwise, we would have been in big trouble." 0

The Handsome Young Man panted slightly, looking at him with gratitude, while the girl hid behind him, curiously staring at him. 0

"It's nothing. I just can't stand people like that—just a bunch of animals controlled by their lower halves," Xiar said, crossing his arms elegantly while maintaining a modest smile. 0

The three of them were momentarily stunned. Suddenly, the Burly Youth leaned in, his large right hand pressing down on Xiar's shoulder as he boisterously declared, "With that statement, you're my brother now!" 0

"Uh..." Xiar was taken aback by his enthusiasm and took a few cautious steps back to avoid the impending embrace. 0

He glanced at his shoulder, where a dark handprint was already visible against the silver-gray fabric. 0

"Ahem, sorry about that, brother. I come from a common family and don't really understand noble etiquette..." The Burly Youth scratched his head, his short golden hair standing straight like needles. 0

"Apologies, this guy is a bit rough around the edges and loves to get hands-on with others," the Handsome Young Man remarked disdainfully, earning a fist-shaking warning from the Burly Youth. 0

"I don't mind. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way. I'm planning to take on a mission and see if I can earn some gold coins," Xiar said with a gentle smile, showing no signs of aristocratic airs. 0

"Hey, brother! We just picked up a mission ourselves. Want to join us?" The Burly Youth's eyes lit up as he cheerfully leaned closer, slightly lowering his head to examine the fox on Xiar's shoulder. 0

"Brother, this totem with mental abilities without any Evolution is extremely rare! Where did you find such a treasure?" 0

Firefly was startled by him and immediately revealed its sharp claws. Xiar gently stroked its head and frowned slightly. "I got it by chance; it's barely considered a variant." 0

Inside, he felt a strong sense of vigilance towards the person before him. This guy truly deserved to be the future leader-level protagonist; he naturally exuded an aura of approachability. 0

It was as if he were an unguarded friend who easily made you feel fond of him, leading you to unknowingly become his friend and eventually willing to serve him—even to the point of sacrificing your life! 0

In fact, in the future history, this person would possess a kingly presence and embody that kind of openly heroic character who enjoyed the adoration of the masses. 0

Becoming friends with someone like this meant you wouldn't have to worry about betrayal; in that regard, he was quite a good choice for a friend. 0

"Rody, maybe not. It's just an exploration mission; the three of us are enough," the Handsome Young Man reminded from behind. 0

But the Burly Youth completely ignored him, grinning, "Anyway, the rewards are pretty good. Having one more person is like having another helper. Besides, aren't we looking for someone at Storm Tavern? Brother, do you want to join us?" 0

"What’s the mission?" 0

"Exploring a certain Bat Cave in the wild. There are reports of Mutated Beasts lurking there, and the higher-ups have issued a task for us to clear it out." 0

"Sounds good, but I need to drop off my things first." Xiar nodded with a smile; this was precisely why he had come here, so how could he refuse? 0

"Hehe, I knew you were a straightforward guy. Come on, I'll help you carry that!" The Burly Youth named Rody unceremoniously snatched the cloth bag from Xiar's hands. Anyone unaware might think it was a robbery. 0

"Be gentle! Don't pull so hard; this contains my research equipment. If you break it, you'll have to pay me!" Xiar said helplessly. This guy was too familiar too quickly, completely disregarding the concept of personal space; they had just met. 0

"No problem. Oh right, what should I call you? You can call me Rody. That fake noble is Neil, and that’s his sister Kathy." The other party casually replied and introduced himself. 0

"Hello, I'm Charles Mesterling; you can call me Xiar." Xiar smiled back, his gaze lingering on the faces of the two. 0

"Hello, son of Baron Bougiano!" The Handsome Man replied politely without any hint of surprise, directly revealing Xiar's identity, which caused Xiar to show a look of astonishment. 0

After a brief introduction, Xiar dropped off his belongings at the clinic for the accompanying guards to watch over and then followed Rody all the way to the Bounty Guild. 0

This guild served as an official organization of the Harrison Empire, where tasks were issued by the authorities for non-imperial Spirit Masters like them to complete. This system provided a degree of control and oversight. 0

Otherwise, with the destructive power of Spirit Masters, each one was like an unstable bomb; it was better to spend some money to have them follow orders. 0

The guild's headquarters was located in Storm Harbor's administrative district. It appeared to be just an ordinary three-story building, but a squad of valiant warriors stood guard at the entrance, causing passersby to hurry past. 0

From this alone, it was evident that Storm Harbor was indeed the central city of Farn County. The city lord and upper echelons were aware of the existence of Spirit Masters; only rural Lords like Baron Bougiano remained in ignorance. 0

The interior of the guild was quite simple; on one wall hung numerous task boards. 0

To take on a mission, one would tear off a notice and register at the front desk. If they failed to complete it by the deadline, it would be considered a failure, allowing others to take over. 0

There are also some large team missions that can be taken on by several squads, which will then divide the rewards based on their contributions. 0

Rody and his two companions had been hanging around here for quite a while. They skillfully tore off a mission slip from the board above and registered it at the front desk, paying a deposit of 100 gold coins. 0

If the mission fails, half of the deposit will be deducted. If they exceed the mission deadline without returning, the entire amount will be forfeited, preventing anyone from recklessly taking on missions. 0

The scene here was not much different from that in the game. A girl dressed in revealing attire stood at the counter, registering missions for the passing Spirit Masters. Xiar showed little interest in this. 0

"Hey, this is just an exploratory mission. At most, we'll encounter some strange Mutated Beasts. But it's all good; no mere beast could possibly threaten us," Rody said confidently, patting his chest as if it were as simple as going out for a camping trip. 0

"Well, I just underwent Spirit Awakening, so I have a special totem. I hope you all can take care of me," Xiar said with a shy smile. 0

"No problem, I've got your back," Rody boasted, drawing admiration from the girl beside him, which only made him prouder. 0

Xiar didn't say much more and obediently followed behind them as they left the Guild Hall. 0

This mission was not just a simple exploration of a dangerous creature's lair; it involved that organization. 0

That organization aimed to cultivate beings that surpassed divine beasts, intending to become the Planetary Will, akin to an existence like Gaia. 0

They were essentially a group of mad Cultists trying to create a true god! 0
