Blood gushed from the headless corpse, causing Kathy, who was watching from a distance, to scream and faint from the brutal shock.
"Xiar, why are you doing this?" Rody shouted in disbelief, having rushed within thirty meters of him, only to freeze in place.
Xiar glanced back at him for a moment before mounting the Giant Lizard, which activated its abilities and quickly vanished from his sight.
I'm sorry; I will repay the life debt I owe you, but I must kill this person!
A flicker of regret crossed his mind as he hadn't anticipated such a turn of events. He had originally planned to continue pursuing the Treasure alongside the other party, but now that plan was completely ruined, and they could only become enemies from this point on...
"Why!"
Rody roared in anger, unable to comprehend why Xiar would be so ruthless as to mercilessly slay his own companion.
He wanted desperately to rush forward, grab Xiar, and demand answers, even to kill him in vengeance for his fallen comrade.
Unfortunately, the earlier battle with those two Second-Level Spirit Masters had drained all his energy, leaving him powerless to do anything but watch as Xiar escaped.
Struggling against his exhaustion, he walked over to the girl who lay unconscious on the ground and picked her up. Casting a glance at the headless corpse not far away, he chose to ride away on the Totem Beast.
This was a secret base of a Terrorist Organization, where dark forces had forcibly evolved him, giving him the strength to fend off those two Second-Level Spirit Masters.
But it was only a temporary retreat; he hadn’t achieved any counterattack. Instead, the Totem Beast was now covered in horrific injuries.
If they summoned more people to pursue him, he would undoubtedly meet his end.
The Komodo Dragon, carrying Xiar, ran wildly for over ten minutes. After bursting out of the underground cave without a moment's pause, it finally collapsed to the ground, exhausted.
Xiar gasped for breath. Riding the Giant Lizard was nothing like riding a horse; the creature's slick body required him to lie flat on top to avoid falling off, demanding all his concentration.
The bumpy ride had given him a taste of a dirt road roller coaster, leaving his limbs aching and nearly numb. As soon as they stopped, he couldn't help but throw up.
After resting for a while, Xiar finally recovered from the earlier bout of nausea. He looked at the Giant Lizard sprawled on the ground, panting like a dog with its tongue hanging out, and felt a wave of helplessness wash over him as he recalled their recent encounter.
"Sure enough, I carry the aura of a protagonist's enemy. Just under a month since my arrival, and I've already attracted two main characters. Am I destined to be at odds with all of them?"
Thinking about those future characters, each possessing divine beast totems, sent chills down his spine at the thought of them surrounding him—such a scene was terrifying.
These individuals were favored by destiny, each destined to be an absolute protagonist in their own right. Anyone who opposed them would either be eliminated or turned into their subordinates.
The only silver lining was that Rody was a heroic figure; he likely wouldn't threaten Xiar's family.
Yet caution was still necessary. If that Green Tea Bitch whispered in his ear and stirred up his anger, it wasn't impossible for him to come after Xiar's family.
Given Xiar's malicious thoughts, such a scenario seemed highly likely!
Before that could happen, he needed to quickly enhance his strength. The fastest way to do so was through the White Spirit and the precious item he had just acquired.
As long as he used this treasure to transform more totems, he could establish himself firmly and face any enemy without fear.
However, it is important to note that the totem produced by this transformation is fundamentally different from other totems in that it cannot be rendered void!
This means it cannot be retracted and must consume food like an ordinary beast, remaining by one's side. Who would believe that a massive creature following them is just an ordinary beast?
Moreover, this type of totem is called the Half Totem, possessing some characteristics of a totem but lacking the regenerative properties.
This implies that its death is true death; it cannot be repaired at all. Therefore, in future battles, as more and more heroes rise to power, that organization will be unable to cultivate more Ultimate Evolution Bodies, leading to its complete downfall due to insufficient top-tier strength.
"It seems I must find a way to acquire a large estate soon; otherwise, I won't be able to hide the increasing number of Half Totem Beasts."
Xiar felt a bit troubled but had no choice but to set it aside for the time being.
"White Spirit!"
With a thought, the Evolution Modulator Interface instantly appeared, and in the lower grid, next to the Firefly icon, there was suddenly a three-dimensional image of the newly acquired Giant Lizard totem.
"Komodo Dragon, Special Totem, has evolved; can be enhanced. Evolution success rate 15%, consumes 8 Evolution Points;
Abilities: Devour, Savage Charge."
As he focused on the abilities, a line of information appeared for interpretation, and he was particularly intrigued by the Devour ability.
This Totem Beast could repair its bodily injuries by consuming flesh and blood, allowing for rapid recovery.
It reminded him of a game he once played, which featured a monster called Abomination that had a similar ability.
This meant that as long as the opponent was not killed or severely injured, they could quickly recover by consuming flesh and blood, dramatically increasing their survival ability. It was an extremely powerful capability. Considering the possibility of Ultimate Evolution or even Super Evolution was not out of the question.
He glanced briefly at the ability before shifting his gaze to the Skill Icon of the White Fox. Upon reading its description, he noticed an additional status indicator labeled "Weakened."
The White Fox had been struck down by that crow after its Evolution while trying to save him, suffering a blow far worse than the light scrape he received from the Grizzly Bear. It had instantly fallen unconscious and had yet to Awaken.
After all, the ability of Firefly leaned towards Agility, akin to an assassin in an Online Game, yet it had to temporarily transform into a shield warrior to save him... It was a miracle it hadn’t died.
Now, he had no idea how to awaken it. The White Fox's condition was somewhat unique; it was not like a normal totem but rather resembled a Half Totem transformed from a Life Tree Seed.
Perhaps he needed to find a Veterinarian for treatment. He immediately thought of that Brutal Uncle and prepared to seek his help.
Before that, he needed to return to town and leave as quickly as possible; otherwise, he would definitely be blocked by that furious fellow.
Having made up his mind, Xiar allowed the Komodo Dragon to rest for a moment before swiftly finding the carriage and letting it roam freely in the wild for now.
He drove away in the carriage, significantly delaying the opponent's return speed.
Once back at Storm Harbor, Xiar unhesitatingly abandoned several guards, taking with him the instruments he had purchased earlier and leaving Storm Harbor alone.
Just as Xiar had not gone far from the city gate, he spotted Rody approaching slowly from a distance. Under Rody's furious gaze, he left without looking back...
