The banquet was lively and grand, continuing into the evening as the more vibrant ball began. Young noblemen and ladies stepped into the center, dancing gracefully to the delightful music.
In one corner of the hall, two young men sat quietly, completely indifferent to the attention around them, simply enjoying their food and drink.
"Brother, did you really bring me here just to eat?" Daniel looked at him with a pained expression, his face becoming increasingly exaggerated. "You must be looking down on me! Come on, Storm Harbor has everything you could want. I'm now left with nothing but a few gold coins... boohoo!"
Before he could finish, a chicken leg was shoved directly into his mouth. Xiar glanced at him calmly and said, "Shut up. If you want to leave, you can go now."
"Meow!"
White Fox Fire also let out a sound, seemingly expressing dissatisfaction. It clutched a roasted chicken that was much larger than its head with its two paws and took big bites, looking quite comical.
Strangely enough, it had no traces of grease on it; its fur remained snow-white and shiny as if it could never get dirty.
"Fine, you eat here while I go find some beauties to dance with!" Daniel disdainfully tossed aside the chicken leg, elegantly wiped his mouth with a handkerchief, transforming into a dashing gentleman as he approached a Noble Young Lady he had already set his sights on.
The girl blushed, clearly aware of his identity, and extended her hand holding the handkerchief to him. The two glided into the dance floor together.
Crunch!
Xiar paid no mind and bit down on the chicken bone, chewing a couple of times before swallowing it whole.
With his newly acquired Evolved Grade Totem abilities, he felt his teeth getting stronger; he was eating voraciously as if he could never be full.
"Could it be that all my food has been stolen by those gluttons?" Xiar felt a bit frustrated.
Those Evolved Grade Totems were indeed standard gluttons; one cow wouldn't even be enough for them in one meal. He had no choice but to let them hunt for themselves; otherwise, he couldn't provide such vast amounts of food.
His gaze returned to the dance floor as he continued watching, thoughts swirling in his mind: "Clearly, there are no Spirit Masters here with Guardian Spirit Light visible. They might have all learned to conceal their Spirit Techniques; without using search Spirit Techniques, it's impossible to detect them. But using them would also alert others."
Guardian Spirit Light is a layer of defense that appears on the surface of a Spirit Master’s body when danger is near. It can be concealed using Spirit Techniques during normal times so that other Spirit Masters cannot detect it. This made it difficult for him to determine how many Spirit Masters were present.
After all, this was a gathering place for the True God Cult in Farn County where Spirit Masters congregated; there should at least be two Second-Level Spirit Masters stationed here—there's no way there aren't any.
However, he did spot a familiar face...
"Allen, are you sure this is the place?" Rody sat there, feeling a bit uneasy.
He came from a common family and this was his first time attending such a noble banquet. Everything around him felt out of place.
"Relax, you’re with a prince..." Before he could finish, Rody quickly covered his mouth in panic.
While he was starting to believe that Allen possessed some magical ability to foresee the future, he could not accept that he had noble royal blood. If anyone heard that, it would surely lead to trouble.
Allen helplessly pried Rody's hand away, wiping his mouth disdainfully. "Don't worry. We've searched all over Storm Harbor, and this is the only place that matches what I saw. Just wait; something special will definitely happen!"
"Alright then, if the Ultimate Form really appears, it won't be easy for us to escape." Rody wanted to ignore the situation but his sense of justice wouldn't let him run away. He decided to relax and started eating heartily.
After all, this was free food and drink; he might as well treat himself well.
With the evolution of his dark powers, his appetite had also increased several times. By the time he stopped, the table was cleared of chicken and duck dishes, leaving everyone around him in shock.
"Rody, are you okay? That’s enough food for ten people!" Allen looked equally astonished, never expecting Rody's appetite would become so outrageous.
"I'm fine... burp!" Rody let out an ungraceful belch, drawing even more attention from those around them. Some began to whisper among themselves.
Allen facepalmed; he had tried to avoid drawing attention but everything fell apart due to their earlier gluttony.
Now many curious eyes were on them in the hall, and some were already looking at them with suspicion. After all, everyone present was nobility; who would eat so shamelessly?
Before he could explain himself, a terrifying roar suddenly erupted from outside, as if something had exploded. The entire hall shook.
Boom!
The roar came again, and an oil lamp mounted on the wall fell down, spilling oil onto the tablecloth. Flames erupted instantly, igniting the entire dining table and catching a nearby girl in a flowing gown on fire.
"Ah! Help me!" The girl screamed as she tried to escape but tripped over her own skirt and fell hard to the ground.
Her sheer dress caught fire immediately, turning her into a burning torch. Her piercing screams echoed through the room, causing further panic among the guests.
Some rushed to help her by throwing wine from the table onto her in an attempt to douse the flames. Instead, it only made the fire more ferocious, completely engulfing the girl and spreading rapidly.
"Idiot, don't you know that alcohol fuels the flames even more!" Xiar exclaimed in disbelief. As he saw the fire spreading closer, he hurriedly jumped out of the window, holding Firefly tightly.
The nobles and guards numbered in the hundreds, all scrambling to escape. However, they were horrified to find that outside, a thick, inky fog had enveloped everything, obscuring even the courtyard walls and making escape impossible.
Boom!
Just as Xiar regained his footing, the building behind him collapsed with a thunderous roar, crushing those who had not managed to flee into mere pulp.
Amidst the ruins of the house, two terrifying beasts emerged, locked in a fierce battle.
One was a plant-like creature, with countless vines stretching dozens of meters long, sprawling across a large area with menacing intent.
The other was a monstrous dinosaur-like beast, resembling a Tyrannosaurus Rex but entirely crimson, spewing forth torrents of flames from its mouth.
"What the hell? Is the battle starting just like this?"
Xiar's eyes widened. He had expected some sort of buildup before the fight began, hoping to find an opportunity to slip away unnoticed. Instead, both sides launched into their full powers without regard for the lives of so many people.
He took a deep breath and keenly sensed that a mysterious sound seemed to echo around him, stirring within him an impulse to go completely mad.
What on earth is happening?
