Werewolves are one of the most frequently appearing characters in Aqua Star and Western Mythology, a type of creature that fears silver. They usually resemble humans, but on nights of the full moon, they become frenzied mythical creatures, absolute enemies of vampires.
Their presence can be seen in numerous movies, television shows, and even games, making them the most iconic of beastmen.
However, in this world, there are only humans as intelligent beings; fantastical creatures like werewolves and vampires do not exist.
Moreover, even if werewolves did exist, they would not be able to wreak havoc in the human world as depicted in films.
Spirit Masters are far more formidable than werewolves or vampires; a Fourth-Level Spirit Master can rival the gods of Western Mythology!
In such circumstances, even if werewolves truly lived among them, they would inevitably face extinction.
Yet, the corpse before him bore no distinction from the legendary werewolf: it had a fierce wolf head and was covered in dense black fur, but its limbs were clearly human-like, indicating it was an upright walking creature.
Xiar crouched down, curiously observing it and was astonished to see its fingers twitch slightly.
Was it a nervous reflex or was it not completely dead?
This left him somewhat incredulous; after all, a large portion of its thigh had been gnawed away by that rat, and a massive wound gaped on its belly with intestines spilling out.
There was also a distinct sword mark on its chest, as if pierced through by a sharp longsword. Given such severe injuries, if it were still alive, its vitality would be astonishingly resilient!
"Whatever, let's give it a try." Xiar took out a box containing Colorful Puffballs from his pocket.
Colorful Radiance shimmered and enveloped the creature.
Moments later, a miniature three-dimensional image quietly appeared on the translucent panel before him.
"Werewolf: Special Totem, Not Evolved, Can Be Enhanced, Evolution Success Rate 10%, Cost 6 Evolution Points;
Abilities: Frenzy, Regeneration."
What a terrifyingly perverse vitality!
Xiar could only marvel at the other party, as these injuries were completely fatal, yet the individual had survived—unable to transform into a Half Totem.
"Very well, you have successfully piqued my interest, so I shall grant you a new life!"
Xiar's gaze was intense as he looked at the other. This fellow's appearance had shattered his preconceived notions, leading Xiar to wonder if mythical creatures like vampires and Minotaurs might actually exist.
With a thought, he pressed the "+" on the attribute list.
Buzz!
A faint white light enveloped the individual, cocooning them in a massive chrysalis. Moments later, the white light merged entirely into their body.
The attribute list still prominently displayed "Un-evolved," but the gruesome injuries that resembled those of a corpse were rapidly healing.
Flesh began to sprout from the gaping wounds across its body, clearly indicating that it would not be long before it fully recovered.
The effects of Evolution Points were far superior to mere Evolution; they could surpass even the strongest medicinal treatments. If enough Evolution Points were invested, Xiar had no doubt that this being could completely heal and evolve!
He waited quietly for a while until the other slowly awakened, confusion evident in their eyes.
Upon seeing him, an intense killing intent surged forth, accompanied by a low growl.
However, under the suppression of the Soul Contract, the individual quickly lowered their guard and emitted a whimper akin to that of a dog.
"What a pity; it seems there is little intelligence present." Xiar couldn't help but sigh.
He had initially thought that this being possessed intelligence similar to that of humans, but now it appeared to be little more than instinctual, not much better than a monkey.
"That's unreasonable. It clearly has the same vocal organs as a human, and its brain is no different. Why can't it learn to speak?"
Xiar looked at the werewolf on the ground, whimpering softly, and suddenly a thought flashed through his mind. "Could it be that it's a product of the failed first generation of the Evolution Potion?!"
When the first generation of the Evolution Potion was completed, he hadn't yet crossed over, so there were no relevant images in his future Story Database, nor was there any such werewolf creature.
But the essence of the first generation of the Evolution Potion was to extract the superior Bloodlines of other species and create a potion that could enhance the human body through special means.
This potion had extremely terrifying side effects, leaving only a few survivors among hundreds of test subjects. The rest either died outright or transformed into mindless monsters.
Leslie was one of them!
Once he thought of this, he was instantly convinced that his assumption was correct.
"Poor thing, born as a human but turned into this strange form," Xiar murmured.
The werewolf couldn't understand what he was saying and continued to whimper while covering its wound, even lying down to lick it with its tongue, behaving just like those wolves.
It was evident that this creature had been completely overtaken by the wolf's Bloodline, becoming a true wolf.
How to deal with this creature posed a dilemma for Xiar, as its identity was too special and could not be exposed; it belonged to the absolute dark side of the academy.
The higher-ups would love nothing more than to eliminate these creatures to bury their inhumane experiments completely, ensuring that no one would ever find out.
"Well, I can only leave it here for now," Xiar frowned and issued an order for it to remain in this forest.
This forest was lush and dense with various trees and bushes, making it very easy to hide.
Moreover, with an abundant food source available, it would be enough for it to survive for a while. He planned to come back later when he had the opportunity to take it away.
The Ironfeather Eagle soared into the blue sky, swiftly carrying him away from this place.
More than half an hour later, the Ironfeather Eagle had crossed half the island, bringing him down to his residence.
Xiar hurriedly descended from the rooftop with a large bag, an act that drew little attention.
After all, this was Morent Academy, a school for Spirit Masters, where many students captured wild creatures from the wilderness for research. What he was doing was quite ordinary and unremarkable.
In the basement, Xiar placed a Mutant Insect Species on the Experiment Table and began to study its anatomy with great focus.
After a preliminary examination, he found himself increasingly amazed by its extraordinary features.
This creature could not have arisen naturally; it possessed various terrifying abilities—an abnormal vitality, astonishing speed, formidable strength, and an untraceable camouflage—essentially combining the advantages of many different species.
For the next while, Xiar remained in the laboratory. This creature was like discovering a treasure to him.
He was certain that the laboratory had inadvertently caused its mutation, resulting in such a near-perfect form.
It was likely that this mutation could not be replicated; otherwise, so many people wouldn't be searching for creatures that had escaped from laboratories.
Xiar's eyes sparkled with excitement: "It seems I really can cultivate such a terrifying creature that roams across the stars!"
