"Hey, Xiar!"
The central experiment had concluded quickly, and Xiar emerged from the facility, guided by the staff. He keenly sensed that this might be his first and last visit to this place.
As he stepped out of the laboratory and took a breath of fresh air, someone suddenly approached him and spoke.
"What's up, junior?" he asked, looking at the person in confusion.
It was Lyle, dressed simply in black fitted pants and a white jacket. Her long, snow-white hair was casually tied back in a ponytail, swaying gently as she moved, giving her a clean and efficient appearance.
"You've been working too hard, haven't you?" Lyle said with a smile. "You've been here for over twenty hours, and I haven't seen you take a break. Are you trying to overdo it?"
"I enjoy learning," Xiar replied with a smile. "Learning makes me happy. Swimming in the ocean of knowledge is truly delightful."
"Uh, I can't understand that. I've seen too many people like you," Lyle said with an exasperated shrug, but she quickly regained her cheerful demeanor. "Junior, how about joining us for a camping trip? It would be a good way for you to relax and meet some new people. After all, you have plenty of free time."
"Sorry, I have plans coming up..."
Lyle hurriedly interrupted him. "Wait! This time we're going to an island in the north. There are so many strange creatures there; you should be really interested!"
"What kind of creatures?"
"The island is a typical deserted one, home to many species that are different from those found elsewhere. Among them, the Insect species is the most unique. I heard you're studying bugs—why not come along for a field study?"
"Alright, thanks for the invitation. Just let me know when you're leaving," Xiar nodded.
He was in urgent need of various special Insect specimens for his experiments. It was hard to find someone who could help him meet his requirements; it would be better for him to go personally and take a little break at the same time.
"That's settled then. We'll set off early tomorrow morning, so don't forget," Lyle said before hurriedly leaving, clearly with many tasks awaiting him.
He was indeed a very enthusiastic person. After watching him leave, Xiar continued on his way back to his residence.
The experiment was only halfway through, and he needed to modify the corresponding Inheritance Factor for the White Mouse.
What left him somewhat regretful was that the professor responsible for the Inheritance Factor grafting, the Middle-Aged Teacher, was too rigid, wearing a cold expression as if someone owed him billions. Every inquiry met with a wall, making it difficult for him to form the Skill Icon.
However, he managed to use the Evolution Modulator to elevate his Inheritance Factor Analysis ability to Master level in one go, allowing him to learn grafting through related knowledge.
He estimated that within two or three days, he would thoroughly master it. By then, he would possess the ability to modify the future development direction of totems from the Inheritance Factor perspective.
Of course, such modifications were not without limits; it would cost an astonishing price and could at most elevate a medium-grade Totem Beast to a high-grade one. As for Supreme Totem Beasts, that was out of the question.
Upon returning to the basement, Xiar glanced at the approaching Moon Child and ordered it to obediently squat in the corner and continue working.
This little fellow had previously dared to damage equipment worth tens of thousands; it needed to face appropriate punishment and learn some discipline.
He lifted the Spirit Technique shrouding the Experiment Platform and calmly continued his work in front of a pile of grotesque flesh mountains...
The next morning, Lyle appeared punctually outside the villa, accompanied by a shorter girl with short hair.
Upon seeing them come out, she greeted them with a smile: "Good morning, Xiar, Erin."
"Good morning, Lyle," Erin replied as she walked over and affectionately linked arms with her.
The two girls had been spending a lot of time together lately, and their relationship was growing stronger.
"Alright, let's hurry up. Everyone else is waiting for you," Lyle urged after a brief chat.
Then, Xiar spotted a massive Totoro Bus parked not far away, lazily basking in the sun.
Some people leaned out of the windows, clearly curious about him.
"Okay, the famous classmate Xiar has finally been brought out by me. Everyone, stop staring; otherwise, our junior will get shy," Lyle called out to the more than ten people on the bus.
"Uh, am I really that famous?"
Xiar asked in confusion, which drew a light chuckle from Lyle as he covered his mouth. "Xiar, you're wasting your looks by being so immersed in studying and going out. What's even more astonishing is that in just a short time since you arrived, you've joined the Enforcement Team and entered Garfield's laboratory. Are you really not famous?"
"Xiar, have you really become Lord Gafiel's student?" someone exclaimed with shining eyes, and everyone else turned their attention to him.
"Oh, I suppose so; the teacher treats me well," Xiar replied, prompting a wave of gasps from the crowd.
A few girls looked at him with sparkling eyes, as if they had found a treasure, making him feel a bit uneasy.
Clearly, his identities as a high-ranking academy member, one of the five Arbiters of the Enforcement Team, and a Third-Level Spirit Master made Gafiel's status equivalent to that of an important figure from his past life—a Soldier Level figure—enough to inspire genuine awe among these ordinary students.
Things improved significantly after that; with such a layer of identity surrounding him like a dazzling aura, people began to gather around him wanting to chat.
Until Xiar finally grew impatient and said, "Alright, please return to your seats."
A hint of Killing Intent unintentionally radiated from him, causing the young students, busy with their studies, to feel a wave of fear wash over them. The car fell silent in an instant.
Having hunted down dozens of fierce Spirit Masters, his mental stance was steeped in bloody Killing Intent, far beyond what these sheltered flowers could endure.
Lyle paused for a moment before quickly trying to ease the tension. "We still have plenty of time on the road; feel free to ask anything later."
The Totoro Bus moved gracefully on its eight massive legs, silently traversing the academy grounds. Before long, it left the academy and arrived at a Type Port located on Northern Island.
When the ship arrived, Xiar was slightly taken aback.
It was another giant beast, somewhat similar to the Totoro Bus, but it was also a hollow colossal creature.
This monster measured nearly twenty meters in length, resembling a whale with its large round head tapering off towards the back.
On its back was an opening nearly two meters in diameter, covered by a transparent membrane that allowed a clear view of the dark gray skin inside, forming several seats.
"This is the Whale Ship. Originally just an ordinary whale, it has been transformed by the academy into a vessel capable of carrying passengers and cargo, and it’s faster than those steamships," Lyle explained.
"Impressive," Xiar remarked.
However, he was no longer as naive as when he first arrived. After intensive study, he had become a master-level figure in biology, and if his extensive knowledge were made public, he would undoubtedly find himself on the Dissection Table!
