Strange, humanoid figures surrounded her, resembling humans but with limbs and heads that were completely different, more like upright walking beasts.
They ranged in height from one and a half to three meters, each with a bizarre appearance.
The leader was a slender figure just over one and a half meters tall, dressed in simple fur. In its hand, it held a black staff topped with a large purple gemstone.
What stood out the most was the fluffy, bright red tail behind it, nearly as tall as the figure itself, swaying as it moved.
Under the light, it was clear that it had a standard fox head, with pointed ears and a snout. Yet its eyes sparkled with a human-like intelligence, resembling that of a wise elder rather than the ferocity of a beast.
Squeak!
The humanoid fox monster pointed its staff at the tent, and the creatures behind it immediately launched an attack.
Boom!
The tent exploded instantly, and Yura, clad in chainmail and wielding a sword, leaped out, filled with murderous intent as she glared at them.
As a Second-Level Source Energy Warrior, she could maintain a semblance of wakefulness even while sleeping. The strange sounds had already roused her and awakened her companions.
However, facing this group of monsters made her realize the danger they were in.
The weakest among these creatures was stronger than a First-Level Source Energy Warrior. The presence of a Black Bear Monster and a White Ape made her feel an acute sense of crisis.
In this situation, she quickly consumed hundreds of Source Points to upload what she saw and heard to the Magic Web.
While discussions on the Magic Web's forum typically didn't require Source Points, uploading images or videos did.
Moreover, the more images and videos there are, the more it costs. Additionally, there are limits on upload speeds; spending 10 Source Points does not equate to spending 100 Source Points in terms of upload speed.
After all, the uploaded videos and images do not comply with the Source Lord's Magic Web rules, requiring a certain level of review and modification, or one must choose to upload in specific categories such as combat, tutorials, blood battles, adult education, and so on.
But now, how could Yura possibly hesitate to spend her Source Points?
After pouring down thousands of Source Points, within a minute of her upload, the Magic Web exploded with activity because this video was approved and pinned at the top of the Forum section!
Being pinned means that anyone who opens the Forum will see this video at first glance.
The unique monster depicted in the video ignited the passion of countless adventurers who saw it. They hurriedly spent their Source Points to call their friends and quickly prepared to rush to Yura's location.
There was no choice; the emergence of a new species represented a wealth of Source Points, especially such a novel creature.
They could tell that these monsters seemed to possess high intelligence and were not merely ordinary beasts.
In the Magic Web, the higher the intelligence of a newly discovered species, the greater the rewards received!
"What kind of monsters are you?" Yura growled tightly gripping her weapon. The recently awakened Tracy hid behind her, her face filled with sorrow and fear.
She had already seen that two companions lay on the ground, their fates unknown.
Tracy had originally come from a merchant background; if nothing unexpected happened, she would likely have been used as a bargaining chip for profit and become the wife of some fallen noble.
However, with the changes in the world, her father was killed by monsters during an expedition with a merchant caravan. As an ordinary girl, she naturally could not withstand those brutal and cunning wolves.
In this situation, she decisively approached the Magic Network Management Department, selling off the majority of her assets to exchange for Source Points, in order to enhance her own strength and gain the ability to protect herself.
Unfortunately, while Source Elixirs could indeed improve physical attributes, combat experience was not something easily acquired; it required real-life battles.
As an adventurer with no combat experience, she naturally found it difficult to be accepted by any team. After several setbacks, she finally encountered Uncle Cruton, an adventurer who often nagged and scolded her but genuinely cared for her well-being.
With the addition of Ma Fei, a young man, their adventure team was formed. As they embarked on one adventure after another, they grew closer and began to treat each other like family.
But now, both of them had been pierced by spears, lying on the ground and unable to rise again—
This meant she was once again alone!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The monsters did not respond; their attacks were the best answer. Spears whistled through the air, raining down like arrows and covering the area where they stood.
Yet Yura held her with one arm and sidestepped to evade while using her other hand to swing her sword and knock down the incoming spears.
Upon seeing the enemy's formation, Yura showed no inclination to fight; she was fully focused on retreating.
These monsters were powerful individuals; seeking revenge for those two would only lead to their own demise.
Unfortunately, these monsters had no intention of letting them go.
One by one, the monsters moved faster than she could. Unless she abandoned her companion in her arms, that thought barely surfaced in her mind before it was immediately cast aside.
She couldn't do it. She would rather die in battle than abandon her companions and live on in shame.
With a whoosh!
Monsters chased behind her, throwing spears as they pursued. One spear viciously grazed her arm, tearing away a large chunk of flesh.
The longsword in her hand clattered to the ground, and she nearly stumbled forward.
"I'm sorry, I've dragged you into this," Yura sighed, her face devoid of fear, filled instead with endless regret.
The trio had fallen victim to an unforeseen disaster by following her to search for these special Humanoid Monsters. Though she had meant well, hoping they would reap generous rewards alongside her, the reality was grim. Two of them had already perished on the spot, and now they were all doomed, about to be killed by the monsters.
All of this was her fault; there was no escaping responsibility!
"I don't blame you. We're just too weak; this world is too cruel. Those creatures evolve every moment, while we remain stagnant. Eventually, we will be eliminated. Survival of the fittest—it's not just the monsters!"
Tracy's once lively tone suddenly turned mournful. She stretched out her hand, trying to push away from Yura's embrace. "Sister Yura, let go of me and run! I won't hold it against you. Go back and find those powerful adventurers to avenge us!"
"Heh, silly sister, even though I’m a woman, I’m not one to cower in fear!"
Yura shielded Tracy behind her, ignoring the blood gushing from her arm. She turned to face the monsters and shouted angrily, "Come on! Show me what you stealthy creatures are made of!"
