Second Round The chosen battlegrounds for the competition are all dangerous areas within Farn County, testing the participants' strength while also serving to exterminate various Radiation Monsters, reducing future hazards—a twofold benefit.
After the Preliminary Round eliminated ninety percent of the participants, those who remained were naturally the more outstanding and powerful candidates, all boarding flying insects to enter the dense forest above.
These flying insects can also be remotely controlled by thought, requiring minimal control—just basic commands like moving forward or backward—since they hover several dozen meters in the air, providing a broad view.
Yura rode on one of the flying insects, her Insect Beast flying alongside her, calmly gazing at a nearby Black-armored Man: “Vaxinger, do you want to team up?”
Her voice instantly drew the attention of dozens around her, all looking at her with grave expressions.
Both of them were top contenders from the first round, belonging to the most dazzling group. Their data had long been studied by others as primary competitors.
After all, in the Second Round, mutual attacks are allowed!
“Weaklings need to band together,” Vaxinger replied for the first time, his tone dripping with disdain.
Yura did not get angry; she continued to look at him calmly: “Heh, aren’t you afraid they will team up to eliminate you?”
“My only goal is to become the champion. Until then, no one can eliminate me!” Vaxinger stated indifferently, his tone filled with absolute confidence as if victory was already in his grasp.
Faced with such an arrogant Vaxinger, Yura naturally would not make herself a fool again. She steered her flying insect into the central mountain of the competition area, aiming to secure a more advantageous position first.
As a standout from the first round, she was destined to be targeted by others who would team up to eliminate her—a favorite for the championship—if they hoped to achieve higher rankings!
Fortunately, the Second Round competition Battlefield is much larger, a vast map measuring a kilometer on each side. After over two thousand participants entered, they were sparsely distributed across the expansive danger zones and would not encounter each other immediately.
In this battle, there are many more types of monsters to hunt, each worth points ranging from 1 to 100. Ultimately, the top ten thousand qualifiers will be determined based on everyone's total score.
This "everyone" refers to all participants in the Second Round. Thus, even after Yura and her group finish their battles, they will not know their final rankings until everyone else has concluded!
The battle quickly commenced as each first-round qualifier descended into the vast Battlefield, prioritizing attacks on monsters lurking in various locations.
In the Second Round, an interesting setting emerged: the ability to share vision with one's Insect Beast, meaning you could see what your Insect Beast saw.
However, this vision sharing consumed a significant amount of mental energy. No one dared to use it recklessly unless it was a critical moment in battle; otherwise, they would risk fainting from exhaustion, effectively withdrawing from the fight.
The battles in the Second Round were simultaneously broadcasted on the Magic Web, allowing viewers to spend five Source Points to watch a match.
Additionally, spectators could ride various Flying Insect Beasts high above to watch from hundreds of meters in the air. Disruptions were strictly prohibited, with severe penalties for anyone caught causing trouble.
For ordinary people wanting to watch, they needed to view through Projection Bugs and could not attend the matches in person. New Projection Bugs had appeared in a Duel Zone, providing real-time footage of the event.
As Yura had anticipated, as soon as the battle began, five individuals teamed up, controlling their Insect Beasts in an attempt to eliminate her first.
Unfortunately for them, her Insect Beast was far more formidable than theirs and, most importantly, capable of flight, rendering their plans futile.
However, many spectators banded together to counter those competitors with powerful Insect Beasts, making it difficult for her to earn points against these participants.
Their strategy was simple: no matter what, they aimed to break into the top ten thousand. By working together, they hoped to enhance their chances of survival and improve their rankings.
Meanwhile, she noticed Vaxinger surrounded by opponents. His adversaries' Insect Beasts lacked flying capabilities and were not even Second-Grade Insect Beasts. Nine individuals had teamed up to eliminate him first.
Both the Magic Web and Projection Bugs focused their cameras on this scene, eager to see who would endure until the end.
Barely two hours into the match, a popular contender for victory found himself in a perilous situation, likely unable to even reach the top ten thousand!
Surrounded by opponents, Vaxinger showed no signs of panic or retreat; instead, he disdainfully surveyed his surroundings. "A bunch of ants who aren't even warriors. You possess great power but lack matching combat experience. You think you can surround me? You'll only find death!"
"Well then, let's see what you've got." From several dozen meters away in the air, a man seated atop a Flying Insect Tribe commanded his allies to launch an attack without hesitation.
Buzz!
The vision-sharing was activated, and the silver-gray humanoid Zerg seemed to have a soul injected into its hollow eyes. Its body became as agile as a cat, effortlessly dodging an attack from a scorpion-like creature.
Then, it stepped onto the Trunk, using it as leverage to leap behind its opponent. Its sharp claws, half a foot long, sliced through the back of the creature's head with a piercing screech, tearing it apart in one swift motion.
A lethal strike!
Vaxinger's score instantly increased by several points, but the others were not intimidated. A Brown Six-Winged Insect Beast flapped its wings and dove down from above, moving even faster.
However, it was still futile. With minimal movement, Vaxinger brushed past the flying beast, its sharp claws slicing through the creature's abdomen and leaving a one-meter-long gash that opened it up completely!
This scene was bizarre, as if the beast had flown directly into its claws, willingly seeking death.
A Second-Level Mantis-Shaped Insect Beast lunged forward like a phantom, instantly leaping onto Vaxinger's back. This green-hued Insect Beast, over three meters long, blended perfectly with the surrounding leaves until it launched its attack, drawing gasps from countless spectators outside.
Yet the silver Insect Beast seemed to have eyes on its back; it narrowly avoided the ambush and swiftly swiped its claws across the Mantis's head with minimal movement.
But the Mantis reacted extremely quickly, its scythe-like forelimbs snapping back to defend against the attack.
However, this was merely a feint from the silver Insect Beast; it exerted no real force and effortlessly changed direction. Its target was now the Mantis's left forelimb, which it struck with precision, severely injuring it and causing the limb to drop limply to the ground!
The silver-gray Insect Beast suddenly leaped up and pounced on a fourth Insect Beast. In mid-air, Vaxinger's arrogant laughter echoed: "Now, my hunting moment has arrived! Tremble, you ants that only know how to huddle together!"
