Boom!
On the boundless wasteland, a herd of herbivores was leisurely grazing.
Suddenly, the wind stirred and clouds shifted, as a dark, gaping hole abruptly appeared. The ground erupted with a thunderous explosion, creating a deep pit several dozen meters wide, instantly killing a few massive beasts resembling bison.
Moments later, a figure crawled out from the bottom of the pit, clad in silver armor that enveloped his entire body. He looked around with a dazed expression.
"Cough, cough, where am I?" Xiar felt as if his internal organs had been displaced; his body had suffered immensely terrible injuries, with nearly all his organs shattered.
Fortunately, his physique was incredibly resilient. Even with shattered organs, he could regenerate lost limbs in a very short time.
"Devour!"
Seeing the unfortunate corpses nearby, Xiar activated his ability. A black, ferocious maw materialized and consumed them all.
Pure Life Energy flowed into his body, allowing him to finally recover completely and have time to contemplate what had happened.
Initially, everything had gone smoothly on this alien planet for the hunting expedition. He and Oniens had teamed up to take down three or four Disaster Monsters, but at the last moment, they encountered an incredibly terrifying Transcendent Monster.
That beast likely resided on one side of the planet's Satellite, which is why it had gone unnoticed. However, the terrifying battle on the planet finally alerted it, leading to its direct descent.
The General Rank possessed the ability to tear through space and perform spatial traversal; thus, it could appear silently in the air. Otherwise, it would have been detected thousands of kilometers away.
With its arrival, the only Soldier Level in the Hunter Team was instantly killed, while the others were brutally slaughtered. Even the Spatial Gate was destroyed by its attack.
Xiar had originally had a chance to completely pass through the Spatial Gate and return but was caught in a terrifying assault that caused the spatial transmission to collapse instantly, plunging him into a mysterious rift in space.
Fortunately, with the life-saving artifact provided by Vilanica, he did not perish within, but upon emerging, he found himself in an unknown and unfamiliar Empire.
This was not merely a matter of the unknown; he couldn't even attempt to summon the star map.
It is important to note that every Stellar Hunter can connect their soul to the numerous branches established by the Hunter's Guild throughout the universe, allowing them to determine their position in the vast cosmos and avoid getting lost.
This connection disregards distance and is not obstructed by anything. However, Xiar was astonished to discover that the Sky seemed to be shrouded in an invisible field of Mysterious Energy, completely severing this connection.
Such a peculiar scene sent a chill down his spine because Vilanica had emphasized that only the high and mighty Lords could block the star map network of the Hunter's Guild.
This meant that he had intruded into the lair of a Supreme Monarch.
The Lords possess lifespans spanning tens of thousands of years, and each has a vast family. To secure their descendants and prevent outsiders from prying, they focus on creating a planet as their stronghold.
These planets have extraordinarily high defensive capabilities; under full defense, even beings as powerful as kings find it difficult to breach them, sufficient to withstand the return of their planetary owner.
But now the question arose: how had he managed to penetrate their defenses?
The spatial rifts were indeed mysterious, but a king's defenses are specifically designed to repel entities of equal standing who control spatial rules, allowing no casual spatial traversal!
Unable to comprehend this for now, Xiar decided to set it aside. Being new to this place, he naturally dared not act recklessly; instead, he flew close to the ground at high speed, not daring to unleash his mental field freely—only enveloping an area of several hundred meters.
This planet was incredibly vast, with gravity exceeding that of Source Star by more than five times, causing both flora and fauna to be significantly enhanced.
After a moment, Xiar traversed several dozen kilometers and caught sight of the east bathed in brilliant hues of dawn.
In the sky, Radiance formed a dazzling giant bird, resembling a phoenix soaring high, resplendent and noble.
Countless birds flew around, circling that magnificent sight as if paying homage to it.
There stood a colossal tree, a Flame Tree ablaze with Blazing Flames, towering like a mountain, surrounded by clouds that wrapped around its trunk, so immense that it was hard to believe.
"Over tens of thousands of meters high, with a diameter of several thousand meters—can this really be a tree?" Xiar murmured.
Had he not seen it with his own eyes, he would never have believed such a massive tree could exist, taller than the highest mountains on Source Star, seemingly reaching beyond the planet itself!
"Hey, brother, you made it here too! Don't just stand there in a daze; find a place to hide quickly!"
At that moment, a voice suddenly rang out behind him. Xiar instantly turned around, on high alert, only to see a young man in strange gray armor standing less than ten meters away!
He warily asked, "Who are you?"
He knew that his mental field had been covering an area of hundreds of meters, yet the other person had approached silently. If not for the sudden voice, he wouldn't have been able to defend himself even if attacked!
"Hey, no need to be so formal! We're both here to see if there's an opportunity to snag some treasures. Since we’ve met, why not team up?" The stranger grinned widely, completely unaware of the concept of politeness. Then he suddenly seemed somewhat disgruntled.
"I don't know which Bastard it was who brazenly traversed space and startled those patrolling Firebirds!"
"Oh, sorry, I can't trust you." Naturally, Xiar wasn't foolish enough to trust a stranger so easily.
"Hey, judging by your outfit, you must be a Stellar Hunter, right? Have you heard of Interstellar Thief Gibson? That's me!" The stranger chuckled cheerfully.
"Sorry, I haven't heard of it," Xiar replied bluntly. He had just become a Stellar Hunter and knew nothing about the celebrities in the field, only a few untouchable Lords and their families.
"Is it really that unfair?" The other person slapped his forehead, feeling a bit speechless. However, he didn't continue to explain but pointed behind him. "Bro, those Firebirds are coming after you. Aren't you going to run?"
Gulp!
Xiar turned around and immediately saw a flock of giant crimson birds engulfed in flames flying towards him from the sky, heading straight for where he had originally been.
Clearly, the Bastard that the other person mentioned who was traversing space was referring to him!
These giant birds had wingspans of a kilometer and were clearly Soldier Rank monsters. The leader among them exuded a sense of deadly danger, unmistakably belonging to a Soldier Level!
Gibson grinned, "Hey, how about we team up for a job? I need to go somewhere to grab something, and you can keep watch outside for me."
"Not interested," Xiar flatly refused.
The person in front of him came out of nowhere, and he had no intention of risking his life alongside him.
