Instructor Tang quickly released his grip. "Sorry, I was too anxious just now."
Jiang Shiyan didn't seem to mind. She turned to the Veterinarian and asked if there was a sedative. Upon hearing this, the Veterinarian hurriedly brought over a syringe, but the problem was that no one could get close to Black Tiger. Unexpectedly, Jiang Shiyan volunteered.
"My family runs a pet hospital, so I'm very familiar with the process of giving injections. Besides, Black Tiger has the least hostility towards me right now, so I'm the most suitable person to do this."
As she spoke, she took a few steps closer to the fence, soothing Black Tiger's emotions while approaching.
Black Tiger stopped his self-destructive actions and then collapsed painfully onto the ground, his limbs starting to twitch until he gradually ceased convulsing. A tranquilizer needle found its mark in his hind leg.
The Veterinarian quickly entered to check Black Tiger's condition and drew a vial of blood for testing.
Jiang Shiyan watched with sympathy and ultimately exchanged 200 points from the system for an item to alleviate Black Tiger's pain.
She stepped forward and gently stroked Black Tiger's back. The item's power seeped into Police Dog's body, and after a few minutes, he finally fell asleep.
Once the situation was resolved, Officer Zhang invited Jiang Shiyan to his office and immediately offered her a position in the police force. However, Jiang Shiyan hesitated and declined. "My dream is to open a zoo, and besides cats and dogs, I also plan to learn the languages of other animals. It wouldn't be convenient for me to stay at the Police Dog base."
Officer Zhang was somewhat surprised. "You can learn the languages of other animals?" Jiang Shiyan nodded. "But it will take time."
In the end, he didn't press her further. After she left, Officer Zhang reported Jiang Shiyan's situation up the chain.
As soon as she returned to the pet hospital, Jiang Yiheng pulled her into his office. Upon learning that she had turned down the job offer from the Police Dog base, he sighed in relief. But when he heard about his sister's dream of opening a zoo, he immediately gave her a light smack on the head.
"Are you daydreaming? Do you really think you have what it takes to open a zoo?"
"Not now doesn't mean I won't in the future."
"Jiang Yiheng, don't underestimate me."
"Watch your tone, you little brat! Who told you to call me by my full name?"
As he spoke, Jiang Yiheng raised his hand again to give Jiang Shiyan another tap. She quickly covered her head and ran out of the office just as Lily at the front desk called out to her, "Yanyan! There's a handsome guy looking for you!"
Just as she wondered who the handsome guy was, he had already turned around, and a familiar, handsome face came into her view.
Jiang Shiyan's expression of anticipation instantly froze, and she wore a look of disdain on her face. "I’m not Jiang Shiyan; you’ve got the wrong person."
Without looking back, she rushed out. "Hey, your bag!" Lily shouted from behind.
Yan Anting casually caught the bag and immediately took long strides to chase after her. It was only after Jiang Shiyan had run out that she realized she hadn’t grabbed her bag, which contained her phone and elevator key card. She hesitated, wondering if she should go back for it.
Suddenly, a deep voice called her name. Jiang Shiyan's legs reacted faster than her brain; just as she was about to bolt, Yan Anting grabbed the hood of her sweatshirt. "Stand still."
Jiang Shiyan instinctively straightened up. "Why are you running when you see me?"
"I'm not running; I'm just hungry. I came out to find something to eat."
Yan Anting didn’t say anything more and let go of her grip, handing her backpack back. "Thanks, Captain Yan. I’ll be on my way then."
Before she could finish her sentence, he added, "Just right, I’m hungry too. Let me treat you to a meal."
Jiang Shiyan was about to refuse when he continued, "I need to ask you about Black Tiger."
Three minutes later, they found a Chinese restaurant. Just as they sat down, Jiang Yiheng's call came through. "Jiang Shiyan, where are you?"
"I'm out eating; Lily said some guy chased you out—do I know him?"
Jiang Shiyan stole a glance at Yan Anting, who was busy ordering food. "I'll tell you when I get back."
Jiang Yiheng laughed in anger. "Jiang Shiyan, your guts have grown! Out so late with another man?"
Realizing he misunderstood the situation, Jiang Shiyan hurriedly explained, "It's not what you think; wait until I get back to explain."
Then she hung up the phone. Jiang Yiheng stared at his device, gritting his teeth. "Alright then, getting bold enough to hang up on me!"
In the private room, Jiang Shiyan held a cup of water, feeling anxious inside.
At that moment, Yan Anting spoke up, "Miss Jiang, you seem quite afraid of me. Have I caused you any trouble?"
In truth, it wasn't much; it was just that every time Jiang Shiyan saw that face, she couldn't help but recall some unbroadcastable scenes from her dreams. After all, this man outshone her in every aspect, and Jiang Shiyan would never dare to admit her little thoughts. She could only say that she had been afraid of the police since childhood.
Yan Anting could tell at a glance that Jiang Shiyan was lying, but he didn't mind. He shifted the topic, "I've heard about Black Tiger. The blood tests from the Veterinarian have come back, and he was indeed injected with a poison."
Jiang Shiyan instinctively looked up at Yan Anting. "Is it serious?"
"Black Tiger was supposed to retire next year, but now he has to do so early. The Veterinarian said the detox process will be quite difficult, and even after he recovers, he won't be able to take on missions again."
Jiang Shiyan couldn't help but feel a bit regretful. However, thinking about the item she had exchanged to alleviate pain made her feel slightly better.
"I heard you turned down the Police Dog base's offer."

"I want to open a zoo."

Jiang Shiyan's eyes brightened slightly. "Captain Yan, could you tell me where it is? Let's exchange contact information."
