Suddenly, Jiang Luyi seemed to see something, and her frosty expression was replaced by surprise. This left Zhao Wenjing and the others puzzled. What was going on? Why was Jiang Luyi so interested?
"Mr. Jiang, what are you doing here?" Jiang Luyi quickly approached Jiang Chen, her face lighting up with joy.
"You know me?" Jiang Chen asked, slightly taken aback.
"Yes, I went to Songnan Martial Arts last year with a few friends," Jiang Luyi replied.
Jiang Chen nodded, understanding now. Many people had attended Songnan Martial Arts last year, but he only recognized a few. However, anyone who had been there would surely know him.
At this moment, Shi Wannian, Zhao Wenjing, and Sun Weiwu were so shocked they nearly stumbled. The fact that Jiang Luyi knew Jiang Chen and was being so polite to him was astonishing, especially for Shi Wannian. It felt as if a heavy stone had crashed onto his heart, leaving him breathless.
He had gone through great lengths to invite Jiang Luyi, intending to showcase his own status, but now it seemed he had invited her to slap his own face instead—something he couldn't accept.
Ye Ming, on the other hand, was not surprised by Jiang Luyi's attitude toward Jiang Chen. After all, Jiang Chen was no ordinary person; it made sense for Jiang Luyi to treat him with respect.
Noticing that Jiang Chen's table was empty, Jiang Luyi continued, "Mr. Jiang, my name is Jiang Luyi, and I am the owner of this restaurant. Are you planning to host a meal here? Let me help you arrange it."
"No need, thank you! I've finished eating," Jiang Chen casually replied. "Director Jiang, if you have things to do, please go ahead."
"I’m done with my work now, Mr. Jiang. If you plan to visit any other places, I can take you there," Jiang Luyi offered. She wanted to seize the opportunity to get to know Jiang Chen better.
"That sounds good. If there are any places you'd recommend, I prefer quieter ones," Jiang Chen said.
"Then let's go have some tea," Jiang Luyi suggested eagerly. She understood that Jiang Chen was an extraordinary individual; although he appeared young on the outside, his mindset was very mature. Activities like bar hopping or singing were likely not of interest to him.
"Alright, let's go have tea," Jiang Chen smiled and stood up, beckoning Ye Ming to join them. As for the others, he couldn't be bothered with them anymore.
"I'll take my leave then," Ye Ming said to Zhao Wenjing and the others before leaving with Jiang Chen and Jiang Luyi.
It wasn't until the three of them left the restaurant that Shi Wannian and Zhao Wenjing finally recovered from their shock.
Shi Wannian felt extremely awkward while also being filled with anxiety. If Jiang Chen were to say something bad about him in front of Jiang Luyi, she could easily fire him! Shi Wannian was now restless and impatient. Had he known about Jiang Chen's capabilities beforehand, he wouldn't have dared to underestimate him even with a hundred lives.
Zhao Wenjing and Sun Weiwu fell silent as well; reflecting on their earlier behavior made them feel ridiculous. How could Ye Ming possibly look down on someone like Shi Wannian after knowing such a significant figure as Jiang Chen? It was laughable that she had just been praising Shi Wannian while belittling Jiang Chen.
"What exactly is up with this Jiang Chen? How is he so impressive? It seems Ye Ming has truly recovered from her illness this time. President Jiang treats him with such respect; how did they come to know each other in the martial arts world? Clearly, there's more to him than just being a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine," Zhao Wenjing thought inwardly, filled with envy.
