As soon as they entered, they spotted a middle-aged man sitting at a table near the entrance, flanked by several bodyguards in suits.
Upon seeing this man, Tengye Kikuko’s expression changed instantly.
“What are you doing here?” she asked in Island Language.
The middle-aged man was her pursuer, Murata Kazuki.
Murata Kazuki was no ordinary person; he was a member of the largest gang in the Island Nation, the Yagawa Association. Members of the Yagawa Association are notorious worldwide, and Murata Kazuki held a relatively high position within the organization.
The Tengye Family, to which Tengye Kikuko belonged, had ancestors who were once members of the Yagawa Association. Although they were gradually washing their hands of such ties now, the connection remained unbreakable. In Kyoto, establishing good relations with gangs is essential unless one belongs to a top-tier family or conglomerate that can afford to disregard the Yagawa Association, like the the Takeda Family. With their deep-rooted influence, even the Yagawa Association would not dare provoke them. However, the Tengye Family lacked such strong foundations and still needed to appease the gang.
Recently, Murata Kazuki had visited the Tengye Family and inadvertently met Tengye Kikuko. He became quite interested in this charming woman and began pursuing her. Naturally uninterested in a gang member like Murata Kazuki, she rejected him outright. However, he persisted and repeatedly pressured her family into agreeing to let him marry her. Despite her parents’ attempts to comply with his demands, Tengye Kikuko remained resolute against marrying him. When he heard that she had made an appointment at this sushi restaurant to entertain a man from Huaxia, he decided to confront her directly.
For someone like Murata Kazuki from a gang background, possessiveness runs deep; the more unattainable something is, the more they desire it. Even though Tengye Kikuko had rejected him, he believed she was still his woman. How could his woman be dining with another man? That was absolutely intolerable.
