Li Xiaonan took a deep breath and created twelve Puppet Demons, naming them in the order of the Zodiac Signs before casually tossing them into the Western City of the Eastern Kingdom.
This place was truly remarkable, and he certainly wouldn’t let Jack take advantage of it; sooner or later, it would all end up in his pocket.
With a flash, he moved to the third level of the Seven-Level Pagoda, which was the main battlefield for conversion.
“Namo Amitabha Buddha, I greet the Bodhisattva!” Over ten thousand Buddha's Envoys chanted in unison. Li Xiaonan nodded and smiled, almost waving his hand like a leader.
“Xiao Zhi, how many demons have we captured here in the Eastern Kingdom?” he asked Ni Zhi, who stood beside him.
“Almost ten thousand.”
“Good. Be careful not to damage the buildings here. We are converting demons into Buddhas, not slaughtering them!”
“The Bodhisattva is compassionate. Xiao Zhi will follow your orders!” Ni Zhi nodded and hurried off. Li Xiaonan sat cross-legged, using his spiritual sense to observe the situation on the streets. Demons were flying chaotically, fleeing in all directions, while some accomplices were attacking and feasting on their fallen comrades. He shook his head and muttered to himself, “It should be about time…”
He flashed out of the Seven-Level Pagoda and flew straight to the center of East City, elegantly brushing off the dust from his clothes. The demons around had long since vanished without a trace, leaving the streets desolate.
“Big Brother, I’m here!” Jack appeared at the end of the road in tattered clothes. One extra wing had sprouted from his originally nine pairs of wings, indicating his cultivation had improved.
Li Xiaonan fanned himself with a Carefree Fan, looking relaxed and at ease. Jack stared in awe; this guy was even better at showing off than he was. What kind of cultivation did he have? How could he be so unharmed? I was ambushed by a fourteen-year-old!
No! He must be tricking me; I refuse to believe his nonsense!
“It’s about time. Let’s head back to Central Land. I suspect that old man East Emperor has made a move,” Li Xiaonan said, glancing at the weary Jack.
“Big Brother is indeed calculating! I just spied on him; East Emperor has already acted, and he was in quite a hurry. He set up a restriction in his room but didn’t take your wife with him!” Jack snapped his fingers to tidy his hair and changed into a new outfit, retracting his newly grown wing as he spoke energetically.
“Spying… Be careful not to get a needle in your eye. Where’s your flying device?”
“It’s here. I’ve cleaned it up; I’ll drive it back. You must be tired too, Big Brother. Just rest well and wait for Sister-in-law to reunite with you!” Jack said with an eager expression.
Li Xiaonan nodded and took a seat in the passenger's position, crossing his arms and closing his eyes slightly, as if he had dozed off.
Jack's slender eyes kept darting toward his waist, yet he dared not make a move.
An hour passed quickly as Jack wrestled with whether or not to take action. Just as he decided to be resolute, they had already reached the skies above Central Land. Li Xiaonan suddenly opened his eyes and exclaimed, "Are we there?"
"Yeah..." Jack grimaced as he brought the aircraft to a stop on an open patch of land. Li Xiaonan swiftly dashed back to the castle.
"Big Brother! Wait up!"
Though Li Xiaonan was concerned about Ling Kui, it did not mean he had lost his rationality. He stood coldly at the door and glanced at Jack, who had just caught up. "You come here!"
"Huh?" Jack was momentarily taken aback. Li Xiaonan pulled out the skeleton from his waist. "What? Is your bone itching?"
"No! No!" He took a deep breath and channeled his magic into his hand, slowly pushing the door open. A burst of light shot toward Jack's body, and he shouted, "Oh no!"
It turned out that the barrier set by East Emperor was a mental imprint; whoever opened the door would immediately alert its master. This time, they had truly crossed a line...
"Spirit!" Li Xiaonan dashed to the bedside and embraced Ling Kui. Under the dim red moonlight, the couple nestled together, looking beautiful and happy.
Jack wished he could slap Li Xiaonan; the Dragon Maiden would surely be taken away by him, and the blame for stealing her would undoubtedly fall on his shoulders. Meanwhile, these two were indulging in their affection without a care in the world.
"Spirit, you’ve suffered. Did that old bastard do anything to you?" Li Xiaonan carefully checked her body.
Ling Kui shook her head. "He drank a bowl of my blood and fed me many elixirs. Not only did I suffer no loss, but my cultivation was forcibly enhanced; I’m now at Initial Fusion... I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing..."
"An increase in cultivation is naturally a good thing! Big Brother, we should leave first!" Jack urged.
"Shut up! Why are you trembling? That guy East Emperor won't be back so soon!" Li Xiaonan snapped back, his gaze softening again as he looked at Ling Kui. "Don’t worry; what’s meant to be good will be good; what’s meant to be bad, I’ll handle!"
He held Ling Kui close to him, wishing he could merge her into his very flesh and blood.
No more harm could come to Ling Kui!
He picked up Ling Kui and walked out of East Emperor's room. After thinking it over, he realized that the safest place for her was within his own body, inside the Seven-Level Pagoda. However, he didn't want Jack to know about this secret weapon.
He said to Jack calmly, "Get me a room."
"No matter where you hide her, East Emperor will find her. Brother, I think you should just return to the Cultivation Realm!"
"Return? Without me negotiating for you, do you really think you can succeed? Aren't you just trying to use the dimensional rift to escape my control? You've got quite the plan there! I won't leave until I get what I want! Prepare a room for me and get ready the flying vessel and Divine Dragon Cannon. I'll come back for them shortly!"
The aura emanating from Li Xiaonan made Jack shiver. "Brother, why don't you go to my room first? I'll prepare what you need right away!" With that, he vanished without a trace.
Ling Kui curiously asked, "Xiao Nan, why does he listen to you so well?"
"I'll explain later. For now, I'll take you to the Seven-Level Pagoda so you can adjust your body. In a few days, we'll return to the Cultivation Realm!" He kicked open Jack's bedroom door and gently placed Ling Kui on the bed.
Looking at her delicate face, his gaze softened even more. "Ling'er, I'm really useless..."
Suddenly, Ling Kui pressed her cool red lips against his mouth, silencing his words.
Li Xiaonan smiled as he savored her fragrance. He loosened his grip around her waist and gently pushed her down onto the bed, continuously seeking with his tender lips.
If it weren't for his concern that Ling Kui had just lost some blood, he would have immediately taken her and fulfilled his desires!
His fingers slowly traced over Ling Kui's delicate brows as he spoke softly, "Once the Demon War comes to an end, I will marry you and make you my true wife! Just wait for me a little longer, okay?"
"You fool..." Two blushes appeared on Ling Kui's cheeks as a slight smile curved at her lips, embodying the essence of joy.
Li Xiaonan was entranced; after knowing Ling Kui for so long, he still couldn't resist when she smiled so gently.
With a single hand forming a seal, he brought Ling Kui into the first level of the Seven-Level Pagoda.
Once everything was settled, he swiftly returned to Jack's bedroom, sitting cross-legged as he utilized the Spirit Platform and the Spirit Tree to communicate about tomorrow's negotiations. By the time he was ready, Jack had also returned.
"Hey? Where's your sister-in-law?"
"What about the items I requested?" Li Xiaonan directly skipped over Jack's question.
"Oh! Everything is ready, big brother! Follow me!" Jack formed a hand sign, and a blue light array suddenly appeared on the floor.
Li Xiaonan frowned slightly but followed Jack's lead. As soon as he stepped into the light circle, the surroundings changed dramatically, revealing cold rock walls illuminated by several green flames.
"This is the basement," Jack noticed Li Xiaonan's concern and quickly explained.
"What about the items?"
"Oh, they're in the cellar just around the corner." Jack led Li Xiaonan deeper into the space, a cold smirk flashing across his face.
Just before he left, he had proactively contacted the East Emperor, placing all blame for the attack on the Eastern Kingdom and the abduction of the Dragon Maiden squarely on Li Xiaonan. Although the East Emperor didn't fully believe him, a decision was made.
He split himself temporarily into two forms, creating two nineteen-winged entities—one heading to the Eastern Kingdom to gather information and the other to Central Land. The demon race's wings served not only as decoration but also for instant teleportation rather than flight.
The East Emperor rushed back to Middle Earth Castle to meet with Jack just as Li Xiaonan was entangled with Ling Kui.
They had long set up an ambush, waiting for Li Xiaonan to fall right into their trap.
"It's right behind this door," Jack rubbed his hands together as he led him to a stone door, wearing a sly and ingratiating expression.
Li Xiaonan shot him a cold glance; the Spirit Tree trembled slightly as if warning him of something. He spoke up, "Little Jack, there's a saying in our cultivation world: 'If one does not seek death, one will not die.' I believe you are a smart person!"
"Ha ha! Of course!" At that moment, Jack was eagerly waiting for Li Xiaonan to take the bait and didn’t pay attention to his words.
Li Xiaonan pushed open the stone door with one palm. Inside the cave were four Divine Dragon Cannons and two flying vehicles. Without saying a word, he directly stored them into the Seven-Level Pagoda.
A sudden gust of wind swept from the right, and Li Xiaonan let out a cold snort. Indeed, there was something fishy going on!
Li Xiaonan stepped back with his right leg and struck out with a palm, only to be forced back several dozen steps by the incoming force, his blood surging.
As he focused his gaze, he realized it was East Emperor's old friend.
"Jack told me you ambushed East City before, and I had my doubts. I didn't expect you to hide so deeply. Very good! Very good!" East Emperor spread his wings behind him, looking coldly at Li Xiaonan.
Damn it! The demon race truly is despicable. How did I not realize that Jack would suddenly switch sides to East Emperor?
In the blink of an eye, Li Xiaonan and East Emperor exchanged hundreds of blows. If it weren't for the combat experience he had accumulated in the Underworld Sea's demon realm, Li Xiaonan would have long been defeated.
Jack watched from the sidelines, initially planning to take advantage of Li Xiaonan's unguarded moment to snatch his puppet. However, seeing the fierce battle between Li Xiaonan and East Emperor, he was completely dumbfounded. Although East Emperor's strength had weakened after splitting, he was still a nineteen-winged being. Coupled with the old man's impressive combat experience, he still hadn't managed to overpower Li Xiaonan.
However, Li Xiaonan's situation was far from as easy as Jack perceived. His forehead was already covered in fine beads of sweat, and his True Essence Power was being consumed at an alarming rate.
East Emperor sneered, "Kid, I admit you're not weak, but in the end, you can't match me. Another part of my body is already on its way back. Once I merge with it, your life will be mine to take—along with your woman!"
"Not a chance!" Li Xiaonan shouted fiercely as he recalled his first and second avatars.
If he didn't run now, when would he?
