Zhou Huai, who had narrowly escaped death, was not feeling at ease at that moment. He was originally the leader of the Six-Person Team, and with his calm mind, he had helped a few others survive the most difficult two months in this desolate city. If they could successfully take over the bar and seize a large amount of supplies, Zhou Huai's next move would be to arm his people. This unremarkable young man suppressed a fierce and bloody nature deep within him. Although he was a music teacher who taught piano, when disaster struck, his survival instincts far surpassed those of the physical education teachers at his school. 0

In the first two weeks after the Cataclysm began, the school became a key Safe Zone, where a group of Plainclothes Military Police was stationed under the guise of quarantine protection. However, Zhou Huai keenly sensed that this was a form of soft lockdown. At that time, rumors spread throughout the city about a virus leak, causing panic among residents. Yet, the government did not provide an explanation right away; instead, they suppressed those spreading information through various local authorities. A long-established Newspaper in the area was shut down the day after it published photos of Zombies that had surged into the streets that night. 0

Classes were suspended, and the gates were tightly locked, with guards stationed every few steps. Students were not allowed to leave campus, and the campus network was cut off. Countless parents who rushed to pick up their children were taken away in Black Audis and never heard from again. Soon after, students and teachers discovered that communication lines had also failed; phones and landlines became mere decorations. A group of teachers led students in protests on the playground, demanding their right to know what was happening. That day, the Military Police guarding the school gate did not come to "persuade" them back to their dorms as usual. 0

As if to complement the eerie atmosphere of that moment, hundreds of students heard a loud explosion from somewhere nearby. The campus loudspeakers that had been repeatedly broadcasting official announcements fell silent, and a few Military Police inside the campus rushed out through the gates, followed by a barrage of gunfire. In full view of hundreds of students and teachers, more than a dozen Military Police were torn apart by Zombies rushing in from both sides of the street. 0

Before the stunned students and teachers could react, a tide of Zombies crashed through the flimsy Iron Gate. In an instant, screams filled the afternoon campus. 0

After a brief moment of shock, Zhou Huai quickly regained his composure. He refused the Party Secretary's order to protect the students and dashed back to the Staff Building, locking the door with chains. Many students cried out and begged this cultured piano teacher to open the door. Zhou Huai stepped aside and coldly observed as he opened the Fire Hydrant just before a large number of Zombies arrived. The powerful water spray shot out through the gate, knocking down students who were desperately trying to escape, leaving them as easy prey for the Zombies. 0

His actions were witnessed clearly by Qiangzi, the security guard at the Staff Building. Terrified for his life, this young guard reached an agreement with Zhou Huai; together they barricaded the entrance to the Staff Building and scavenged supplies left behind by teachers. 0

Of course, some teachers who did not participate in that day's protest remained in the Staff Building. After hearing about the sudden chaos, most felt compelled to go out and rescue students; their fate was predictable. In short, Zhou Huai and Qiangzi hid in the Staff Building for nearly half a month, and when they finally left, only they two emerged. 0

While hiding in the Staff Building, they kept a close watch on what was happening on campus. The events that unfolded clearly shattered their worldview as they watched those who had been bitten rise again like Walking Dead wandering around campus; it was an unsettling feeling. Fortunately, after more than ten days passed, for reasons unknown, Zombies gradually left the campus, giving Zhou Huai an opportunity to escape. 0

Taking advantage of dusk, they ran out of campus and picked up discarded Military Police firearms from the ground but failed to find a safe place despite moving around several locations. Their unfamiliarity with guns caused them to waste precious ammunition while attracting hordes of Zombies. This forced them to quicken their pace; reluctantly, Zhou Huai and Qiangzi had no choice but to hide their empty QBZ95B assault rifle and 92-style pistol behind a counter in a convenience store. 0

Later on, they encountered Fat Boss and Renovation Worker Lao Wu; together they rescued Chengcai who was fleeing for his life and Gao Yang who had escaped from an expressway. While exchanging information among themselves, Gao Yang informed them that many areas along their route had fallen into chaos with numerous corpses of troops scattered about. Zhou Huai became invigorated upon hearing this; in times of upheaval with Zombies rampant everywhere, only firearms could ensure survival. He immediately decided that they should find a place to settle down first before splitting up to search for any lost weapons and ammunition from Military Police—having guns would make many things much easier. 0

In China’s heavily regulated environment regarding firearms ownership, most people go through their lives without ever touching real guns; thus, their deterrent power is undeniable. 0

Among the six people, only Zhou Huai, Qiangzi, and Zombie had fought directly, and they bore the blood of the living on their hands. Thus, Zhou Huai naturally became the leader, driven by his own calculations. Unfortunately, his dream of stockpiling weapons and setting up camp shattered in front of Fan Bar. 0

Zhou Huai had curled up in the KTV's drink area for a long time, and there was a moment when he almost gave up. His companions were either dead or had fled, and with Zombies gathering in large numbers nearby, survival seemed hopeless. However, after huddling for most of the day, not a single Zombie appeared. Cautiously, he stepped out of the KTV into the bright sunlight, where the Zombies had vanished without a trace. 0

The instinct to survive reignited within him. Zhou Huai picked up a fallen Cutter and was the first to enter the bar. Inside, apart from the corpse of Fat Boss, there was nothing else. He had no interest in alcohol, so he left that place, inadvertently allowing Gao Yang and Fifth to find a safe haven. 0
