Chef Jia felt a dryness in her throat. She wanted to speak but couldn't find her voice, so she continued to watch. 0

The women in the crowd were shaken by the bloody scene before them, each secretly grateful that their ancestors had blessed them with black hair, while their curiosity about the situation grew stronger. 0

Song Jiu released her grip and tossed her hair onto the ground, waving at the Young Man beside her. "It's done." 0

"You... you..." The man was filled with a mix of anger and shock, unable to utter a coherent sentence. He looked at the severed arm on the ground, which had once been so close to his skin, and then at the woman being held by Young Man, his mind completely in disarray. 0

"She is your wife," Song Jiu indicated for Luo Yu to let him go and approached him to ask. 0

"You can't do this! It's a misunderstanding; this is murder!" The man's panicked gaze shifted toward Chef Jia. "Jia, Sister Jia, please say something! You two are sisters; we—" 0

Chef Jia let out a long sigh, her eyes filled with pity as she gently shook her head, extinguishing the last glimmer of hope in the man's heart. 0

Hearing the man's cries, the woman stopped struggling against her bindings and turned to glare at Chef Jia. A cold laugh escaped her lips. "Jia Jia, do you really think you can escape this? You're too naive." 0

Chef Jia's expression fluctuated between despair and resolve as she closed her eyes tightly, as if asking herself: "Why must it be like this? She's still just a child. Why?" 0

"They're coming back soon; they won't let you go," the woman continued to sneer, her venomous gaze sweeping over everyone. "None of you will escape." 0

"If I were you, I'd be more worried about myself," Song Jiu said, tapping the woman's cheek with the blade. "Does your man know?" 0

The woman shot back an angry glare but remained silent. 0

"I'll give you one last chance with what little sanity I have left—a chance for your man to live," Song Jiu poked at the woman with the tip of her knife. When the Steel Saw Blade struck her waist, it produced a faint muffled sound. 0

Song Jiu grinned wickedly as the sharp blade sliced through the woman's waistband, her silk pajamas slipping down to her ankles, while a plastic-handled fruit knife clattered to the ground. 0

"I guess you're not stupid for carrying a weapon on you; you're just planning to use it on someone else," Song Jiu said, feeling a slight sting in his nose. That fruit knife had taken away the life of our little flower. 0

The woman was both furious and distressed, desperately twisting her body in an attempt to cover herself from the air. However, her upper body was tightly bound with coarse ropes, and her struggles only served to accentuate her form even more due to the friction. 0

"So this is what a Zombie looks like," Song Jiu sneered, reaching out to poke at the empty space where the woman's right arm used to be. The blood no longer gushed as it had before; instead, the white stumps of broken bones and surrounding muscle tissue glowed with an eerie flush, and the blood that clung to his fingertips felt slightly viscous. 0

Her man stopped struggling, staring blankly at the fruit knife on the ground with vacant eyes, murmuring, "It can't be true; my wife wouldn't be yours." 0

" Brother Jiu, kill her," Jiao Ziqian said, his eyes swollen and red. He repeatedly tried to take matters into his own hands but was stopped by Luo Yu. 0

Luo Yu wished nothing more than to end it quickly; however, killing was easy, but what came after? Without understanding what was going on, there would be another girl and then another. So Luo Yu understood Song Jiu better—he knew that despite wanting to tear her apart, Song Jiu had to maintain a facade of calmness. 0

"Liu Yan, get all your people out here and have them stand aside obediently," Song Jiu ordered, pulling out the metal box Liu Yan had given him. With trembling hands, he lit a cigarette and added, "Luo Yu, if anyone dares to act up, take them down." 0

Luo Yu complied, taking the makeshift shotgun and following Liu Yan. Liu Yan's eyelids drooped as he silently approached the crowd. The crowd stirred with surprise at how events were unfolding that night; some were enraged by Liu Yan's rebellion. 0

The woman laughed maniacally, her venomous gaze fixed on Liu Yan's back as she shouted, "I told you so! He will betray us sooner or later; he will get us killed!" 0

"Hey." Song Jiu nudged the man slumped on the ground, a sinister expression on his face as he asked, "What’s it like sleeping with a Zombie?" 0

The man's face shifted between shades of blue and white as he stammered incoherently, his gaze vacant. 0

"Does it grant you longevity?" Song Jiu continued to humiliate him. 0

They couldn't bear to watch any longer and wanted to leave, but Song Jiu called out to them. 0

“No one is allowed to leave. Everyone, keep your eyes on me.” Song Jiu flicked away his cigarette butt and glanced at the group of men and women stepping out from the crowd. He counted them, and with Liu Yan and the woman, there were twenty-six in total. 0

“Hmm.” Song Jiu narrowed his eyes and said coldly, “Liu Yan, do you think I can't count?” 0

“ Brother Jiu,” Liu Yan's expression was somewhat troubled. After a moment's thought, he quickly approached Song Jiu and whispered, “I'm begging you, let's not worry about the twenty-seventh person for now. Once we handle this matter, I promise I’ll explain everything.” Seeing Song Jiu's face darken, Liu Yan hurriedly added, “I guarantee they’re all here; there will be no issues.” 0

“Twenty minutes ago, you assured me of the same thing. And then what happened?” Song Jiu's icy words struck like a slap. 0

Poor Liu Yan, the scholarly young man, was nearly in tears as he pleaded softly, “Just trust me one last time. Look, they have no intention of resisting. I—” 0

“Alright, I’ll trust you one more time. I hope you can give me an explanation.” Song Jiu didn’t press him further; it was clear that Liu Yan had some unspoken difficulties. 0

“ Brother Jiu, that’s all of them.” Luo Yu, unaware of how many Zombies were present, returned to Song Jiu’s side when no one else stepped forward. 0

“Liu Yan has spoken to you about peace. He hopes for coexistence without barriers or hostile gazes in this camp.” Song Jiu turned to the crowd and the Zombie Squad, speaking loudly: “His idea is naive but admirable. In this day and age, thinking of others makes one either a fool or a saint; I believe you all feel the same way.” 0

“You don’t need to look at Liu Yan with such disdain; he means well for you.” Song Jiu lit another cigarette, using the smoke to numb his own bloodlust as he continued, “I know there are fierce rumors about Zombies outside. I also know you’re not afraid of me. But I can assure you that if Liu Yan hadn’t come to me today, you would all be dead. You can think I’m bragging; that’s fine. Now I want to ask you something, and I hope for an honest answer. Think carefully before you speak.” 0

The blatant threat continuously provoked the nerves of the Zombies, while dozens of Militia members became mere spectators. Among these Zombies were friends, teachers and students they knew well—even lovers—but a single label had ruthlessly torn them apart. 0

The Zombies maintained their composure; men and women alike wore indifferent expressions. Clearly, they were not intimidated by Song Jiu’s threats, but at least their gazes towards Liu Yan were no longer filled with hostility. 0

“Who among you knows about what this woman did today?” Song Jiu pointed at the half-naked woman behind him and suddenly raised his voice: “Tell me!” 0

The crowd jolted, startled by the sudden tension. Several male Zombies raised their eyebrows, meeting Song Jiu's aggressive gaze. 0

"You see, I extended an olive branch along with a Shotgun, but your friend chose not to take the olive branch," Song Jiu said with a regretful smile at Liu Yan, curling his fingers as Eighteen Guns pointed menacingly at the Zombies. 0

"I'm going to count to three. Either you answer, or we all die together." Song Jiu pushed aside Liu Yan, who was trying to plead for mercy, and raised a finger: "One." 0

"Someone tell him quickly; he's not joking!" Liu Yan exclaimed anxiously. This was not the time for stubbornness. 0

The expressions on the Zombies' faces varied; some were fearless while others showed complex emotions. The Militia and Chef Jia stood by as spectators, with some hoping for a barrage of gunfire and others praying for no more bloodshed. 0

A half-naked woman laughed maniacally, her voice twisted in mockery as she taunted the countdown of Song Jiu: "You won't be proud for long; they won't let you go. You don't understand them at all; you really don't know." 0

"Shut the hell up!" Jiao Ziqian shouted, slapping her hard. The woman winced in pain, spitting out two teeth and blood, yet continued to laugh wildly: "You'll regret it. Kenny will make you understand what true hell is." 0

Chef Jia's brow twitched, and Song Jiu's "Two" abruptly halted. 0

"What did you just say?" Song Jiu turned his head, frowning. "What did you just say?" 0
