Let's rewind a few minutes, to the moment when Song Yao had just settled into the Jetta, while Luci and Liu Yan were discussing strategies to eliminate the Zombies. 0

Song Jiu and Old Lin had just climbed down from the inner side of the city wall. The city gate had already turned into a Sea of Corpses, and their Pika, which had been their lifeline, was now caught in the eye of the storm, looking utterly hopeless. Fortunately, with Lin Daozhang as their living map, the two of them stealthily maneuvered through the grass for a while, avoiding the Horde beneath the city wall. They climbed over a power distribution room and walked along a row of store ventilation ducts, managing to cross over the Sea of Corpses below without incident. 0

The situation was not optimistic; the leading Zombie forces surged toward the main road directly in front of the gate. However, the subsequent waves were disturbed by the gunfire from atop the City Wall and by Song Jiu's group entering the city. In less than half an hour, the area around the city gate was completely surrounded. 0

The two had been hiding behind a hot pot restaurant, which was still a temporary sanctuary. A few Zombies that slipped into the alley were swiftly dispatched by them. After considering their options and finding none, they decided to remain on guard and wait for an opportunity. Unexpectedly, gunfire erupted from the other side of the city gate, and it wasn't just one shot; amidst the Zombies' chaotic roars, there were faint sounds of engines roaring. 0

This was troublesome. The area around the city gate was already packed with Zombies, and Song Jiu had hoped they would lose interest in the City Wall and disperse quickly. Instead, as one group finished their performance, another eager contender emerged. 0

With no other choice, Song Jiu and Old Lin left their hiding spot behind the hot pot restaurant. They circled around a few times and managed to reclaim a narrow path leading to the roadside from the Zombies. Just as they caught their breath, a sudden screeching sound pierced through the street. They turned to see a tan off-road vehicle crashing into the Horde like a battering ram, carving out a bloody corridor before finally stalling at the roadside. 0

The Zombies were undeterred; even if one was crushed, countless others remained. This iron behemoth that had fallen from above was no different from a lamb entering a wolf pack. The driver hadn’t even had time to restart his engine before he was overwhelmed by a tide of Zombies closing in around him. 0

Old Lin felt frustrated; he wished he could take control from behind the wheel and was quite displeased with the driver's reaction time. However, what happened next left Fake Taoist utterly astonished. 0

While driving might not have been his strong suit, shooting certainly was. The sunroof of the off-road vehicle opened up as a soldier-like figure leaned out, swinging his arm to unleash a torrent of fire that sent Zombies surrounding the Cabin tumbling backward. The passenger seat and backseat also joined in; dark firearms emerged from all windows, instantly transforming the vehicle into a mobile fortress. Bullets rained down from all sides simultaneously, quickly decimating most of the previously menacing Horde and clearing a path for escape. 0

Lin Daozhang was unusually excited; he seemed to forget that they were in the center of a Zombie encirclement as his attention was completely drawn to the firefight happening near the off-road vehicle. 0

Song Jiu slapped him on the shoulder and asked, "Can you throw knives?" 0

"Huh?" 0

"Throwing knives! At this distance, take out their driver." 0

Lin Daozhang looked at Song Jiu with an incredulous expression and teased, "Sure! I can also do Kamehameha; want to see?" 0

Song Jiu shot him an annoyed glare and said, "With all this commotion, all those Zombies at the city gate will come over. Find a way to take out their firepower and seize that vehicle." 0

"Why are you so malicious? We could just help clear the road and let them take us a bit further," Lin Daozhang said, blinking his innocent eyes and adding seriously, "I'm not someone who kills innocents." 0

"This group isn't a rescue team," Song Jiu said, too lazy to explain the issue of zombies. He rolled his eyes and decided to take a chance. 0

As luck would have it, there was a moment of firepower lull at the off-road vehicle's location. The driver finally returned to his post and started the engine again. Perhaps seeing the horde ahead on the main road, he chose not to push forward but instead turned towards the hiding spot of Song Jiu and Lin Daozhang, seemingly planning to make a U-turn in the parking space in front of the hot pot restaurant. 0

Song Jiu knew this was an opportunity not to be missed. As the off-road vehicle reversed and slowed down, he leaped forward, rolling to avoid the rearview mirror's line of sight. He yanked open the driver's side door, startling the driver, who was about to draw his gun. But before he could react, a whooshing sound filled the air, followed by a muffled thud as a steel saw blade shot through the air and embedded itself in the driver's throat. 0

Feeling relieved, Song Jiu pulled out the driver while thrusting the saw blade towards the passenger seat. The two fully armed foreigners in the back were equally surprised and hurriedly jumped out of the vehicle. Their combat awareness was decent; however, with such a confined space inside the car, they couldn't just shoot at the driver's position. Yet their sharp instincts sometimes led them astray; while they protected their driver’s seat, they threw themselves into a sea of corpses. The foreigner closest to the road didn’t react in time and was dragged away by the approaching horde. The passenger fared no better; seeing his teammate being pulled away, he quickly turned his gun for support but was met with Song Jiu's blade piercing through his chest before he fell into the sea of corpses. 0

"Let's go, let's go!" 0

Just as Song Jiu withdrew the saw blade, he noticed Lin Daozhang had already squeezed into the back seat, deftly locking the rear door while urging Song Jiu to hurry up and drive. 0

By now, Song Jiu had grown accustomed to Lin Daozhang's unpredictable behavior. If it hadn't been for that flying knife earlier, he might not have succeeded so easily in his ambush. He immediately took his place in the driver's seat and pressed down on the accelerator, pushing a zombie into a flower bed and splattering blood plasma everywhere before making another turn that crashed into the awning at the entrance of the hot pot restaurant, barreling through a Pepsi promotional banner. 0

"Can you even drive?" Lin Daozhang exclaimed anxiously as he leaned into the passenger seat, looking eager enough to kick Song Jiu out and take over himself. 0

"Let’s head back first; I’ll give you this car when we do," Song Jiu replied sternly. In less than two days' time, that blonde woman had somehow gathered another group of foreigners—her mobility was absurdly strong. However, Song Jiu did notice one difference: compared to those unrecognizable fighters from Riverside Camp, these foreigners seemed much more normal this time around; at least all four people in this vehicle were ordinary humans who could be easily dealt with. 0

Lin Daozhang shot him a disdainful glance and pulled down the canvas covering the vehicle. "It's not even your car; stop pretending to be generous." 0

"Aside from my life, I'll give you anything you want," Song Jiu said with both urgency and amusement. It turned out that their most troublesome companion, Jiao Ziqian, had been injured and replaced by this Fake Taoist; being around such people made it hard for him to feel tense. 0

"What else do you have besides your life?" Lin Daozhang retorted without giving him any face, counting on his fingers. "The food and drinks for your subordinates are all provided by me." 0

Song Jiu pretended not to hear him as he slammed on the steering wheel to avoid colliding with an oncoming zombie. The vehicle jolted as it mounted the sidewalk; glancing in the rearview mirror, he spotted two more cars emerging from around the corner. He quickly turned left onto another street and urged, "Give me directions." 0

"Where to?" 0

“Roundabout” 0

“Oh oh oh.” Old Lin glanced out the window and said, “Why did you turn? Just go straight.” 0

“There are pursuers behind us.” Song Jiu kept an eye on the rearview mirror. Seeing that the two cars hadn’t caught up yet, he slowed down and asked, “Is this road not good?” 0

“It’s fine, just a longer route.” Lin Daozhang switched back to his talkative mode, crossed his legs, and cheerfully said, “What luck! A pillow when I’m short on sleep.” 0

Song Jiu couldn’t relax, forcing a smile as he replied, “This isn’t good luck; it’s a big trouble.” 0

Before he finished speaking, intense gunfire erupted from a side alley ahead. Song Jiu’s expression tightened as he quickly pressed the accelerator, speeding through the alley and splashing a puddle of muddy leaves. 0

“Hey hey hey!” Lin Daozhang suddenly sat up straight, pointing at the rearview mirror and exclaimed, “Isn’t that Dream Fan?” 0

Without needing to be reminded, Song Jiu slammed on the brakes again. The off-road vehicle shook violently as it came to a halt, screeching against the ground and leaving long scratch marks. 0

“Dream Fan, come over here!” Song Jiu shouted as he leaned out of the window. In a flurry, he shifted into reverse. In the rearview mirror, two cars flashed by as if they hadn’t noticed Song Jiu in the side road and barreled straight onto the main road. 0

“Bang bang bang bang!” 0

The sound of gunfire echoed in the alley. Sparks flew from both walls of the narrow passage as several girls hurriedly ducked behind scattered obstacles to avoid the bullets. 0

Dream Fan looked delighted, tightly gripping Song Yao’s hand, her voice trembling with excitement: “Did you hear that? He’s here!” 0

“Get out quickly!” Song Yao’s voice quivered as she struggled to control her racing heart. The pursuers were closing in from behind, leaving her no time to think about anything else. 0

A few of Luo Yu’s group heard Song Jiu’s shout and finally relaxed their tense hearts. Under Song Yao’s cover, they rushed out of the alley one after another. 0

“They’re all here!” Lin Daozhang exclaimed joyfully as he leaned over to open the back door, suddenly noticing something strange. “Hey, there’s one more person.” 0

"Ah," Song Jiu was focused on the street corner when he heard Lin Daozhang's strange cries. He asked in confusion, "What’s with the extra person?" 0

The four girls of Dream Fan climbed into the vehicle one after another. The last one to enter yanked the door shut and raised her hand to slap the driver on the back of his head. "Drive!" 0

Song Jiu's body jolted as if struck by lightning. He covered the back of his head in shock and turned to face the familiar face so close to him. His lips trembled for a moment before he hoarsely called out, "Sister." 0

"Idiot, hurry up and drive!" Song Yao's pale face flushed with color. Her bright eyes were misty, and her expression was a mix of laughter and tears. While she scolded him for being foolish, her arms instinctively wrapped around him. 0

In the back seat, the four girls huddled together, their eyes fixed on the miraculous reunion of the siblings beside them. It seemed they had forgotten where they were, especially Dream Fan and Xiaofei, who had already started crying uncontrollably even before the main event unfolded. 0

The only one remaining somewhat composed was Lin Daozhang, who wore a dazed expression. He didn’t quite catch Song Jiu's unclear call but suddenly spotted armed men rushing out from the alley through the rear window. Instantly panicking, he squeezed and pushed his way to the driver's seat, stepping on Song Jiu's foot as he slammed down on the gas pedal while shouting, "Damn it!" 0

The overloaded off-road vehicle let out a wail as it shook violently, somehow pushing through despite the bullets raining down from behind. 0

Lin Daozhang then remembered that Song Jiu had left it in reverse earlier; a cacophony erupted from behind as something crashed against the car. The rear window shattered into countless pieces with a loud crash. Old Lin shouted for everyone to brace themselves, steeling himself as he yanked the steering wheel hard. The vehicle’s rear end lifted high as it crushed an unfortunate soul beneath it. Lin Daozhang quickly twisted his body to shift gears again, pressing down hard on Song Jiu's foot once more. A faint crack echoed beneath the tires as they finally rolled over and sped away in a zigzag manner. 0
