The seventeen-member team, full of vigor and determination, once again headed towards the Silent National Highway at night. They stuffed barrels of gasoline into their small car, making three trips back and forth to transport everyone back to the mountain tunnel they had escaped from in the afternoon. As expected, those who had been trapped in the tunnel satisfied the Zombies' brief feeding frenzy, and for a distance near the exit, no signs of Zombie activity were detected. 0

Having learned from past experiences, this time they were cautious. The small car was turned around and kept ready at the Cabin, while Jin Bo and a few others guarded both sides of the tunnel entrance with vigilance. Wu Wentao and his team entered the tunnel quietly, checking each abandoned vehicle one by one until they quickly gathered the necessary ones. Since this mission was for a long-distance raid, fuel consumption was irrelevant; as long as the vehicles could run, they were good to go. 0

In the darkness, Wu Wentao signaled, and his companions crouched neatly among the vehicles, their eyes sharp as they squinted into the pitch-black depths of the tunnel, listening intently for any faint sounds. The Zombies moved erratically; a large number gathered in the tunnel frequently traversed through emergency passages. With visibility hindered in the dark and time pressing, they couldn't afford to waste time making torches, relying solely on Wu Wentao and Luci as their searchlights. 0

A young man responsible for relaying messages ran out to inform Jin Bo at the tunnel entrance. Jin Bo nodded in acknowledgment and immediately gestured to Song Jiu. 0

"Back it up," Song Jiu understood and turned to Luo Yu, who was driving. 0

Luo Yu pressed her lips together, a faint smile gracing her frosty face. It had been a troublesome few months, often fighting their own battles; it had been a while since she had fought side by side with Song Jiu. With that thought in mind, she didn't delay her movements as she controlled the car's speed to reverse to the tunnel entrance and adjusted its angle. 0

Song Jiu leaned into the back seat to grab a bundle of Hitch a Ride wires. She got out, lifted the hood, clamped onto the positive and negative terminals, then tossed the other end of the clamp to Jin Bo. The young man returned with two clamps and connected them in order before starting the engine. After several attempts without response, he patiently tried again until finally, the motor roared to life and the long-dormant dashboard lit up. Checking the fuel gauge, he opened the gas tank and turned off the engine; those waiting behind immediately began pouring gasoline. 0

With the first vehicle ready, it became much easier for those behind. The Hitch a Ride wires shortened the distance into the tunnel as barrels of gasoline continuously flowed into the dusty car. Twenty minutes later, six battle-ready vehicles roared to life; their engines echoed through the once-silent tunnel like a natural amplifier. 0

"Go," Wu Wentao commanded upon spotting Zombies appearing not far away. The standby personnel climbed into their vehicles one after another, turning on their headlights that illuminated the dark tunnel. 0

At the tunnel entrance, Song Jiu was also prepared; she secured the Trailer rope and waved her arm. 0

Seeing Song Jiu's signal in his rearview mirror, Luo Yu immediately shifted gears and pressed on the accelerator while Jin Bo and others manually pushed to drag away a vehicle blocking their path at the tunnel entrance. 0

The Toyota Land Cruiser followed behind as Song Yao drove it backward with furrowed brows; only one vehicle had been pulled out so far, leaving insufficient space for Jiao Ziqian to leave ahead. Realizing this, Song Yao gestured out of her window for Jin Bo to signal those on either side of the tunnel to step back. Jin Bo didn’t understand but waved for everyone to move aside. 0

Biting her lip lightly, Song Yao slowly adjusted her Cabin's angle before buckling her seatbelt. Suddenly accelerating with a roar from her six-cylinder engine was unmatched power; she slammed into New Swift at the tunnel entrance with a loud crash that shattered its front bumper. The hood crumpled under pressure as her vehicle jolted forward with tremendous force. 0

Seeing this, Jiao Ziqian rejoiced and quickly shifted into reverse. His Chang'an Benben was small enough to squeeze through any gap; its pearl white body covered in dust hadn’t been started in ages—the clutch felt slightly stiff but manageable as he followed closely behind Luo Yu's Land Cruiser without any pressure. 0

Bang! Bang! 0

The Horde had appeared again. There was no way to avoid the sound of the car starting; it was an expected situation. Wu Wentao and Luci remained expressionless, their guns flashing with brilliant sparks as they fired, not caring about the casualties, only seeking to delay their pursuers. The other three vehicles started one after another, varying in size and style, producing a cacophony of harsh sounds, some metallic and aging, retreating quickly or slowly. 0

"Alright, retreat!" Jin Bo shouted at the tunnel entrance. Several young men opened fire to help cover the two inside. Wu Wentao and Luci did not linger; they immediately ceased fire and ran back, boarding the vehicles in the prearranged order, speeding away just before the Horde could reach their rear. 0

Song Jiu and Luo Yu were in the lead vehicle, Roewe. In the rearview mirror, a few beams of white and yellow headlights approached—just the right number, neither too many nor too few—all leaving the Zombie attack range in a grand procession. 0

Seeing this scene, Song Jiu's long-dormant blood surged slightly. He lightly scraped his finger along the sharp edge of the Steel Saw Blade, with a map spread out on the dashboard, leading the way. 0

The team could only carry a limited amount of gasoline. Aside from Roewe's full tank, the fuel in the other vehicles barely sufficed for their journey. Song Yao had brought along an old fuel truck; however, its massive weight made it an excellent choice for clearing paths—far superior to Jin Bo's vehicle. The six cars drove side by side without concern for being conspicuous; it seemed all drivers were holding back a surge of anger, roaring louder than ever before, reaching a peak of arrogance. 0

With a lead vehicle guiding them, those behind needed not worry too much. They hurriedly checked their ammunition supplies and compared their route maps, finalizing their advance directions. After exchanging a few words back and forth, they soon arrived at the accident-prone section where the two graduate students had encountered trouble. The series of bends slowed their pace; the rising battle intent gradually settled as vigilance reclaimed its high ground. Several vehicles passed over that still glaring pool of blood, following the tire tracks steadily forward without incident. 0

At four in the morning, the convoy changed its order. Song Yao took over as lead vehicle, coordinating with Wu Wentao's Cherokee to crash through the Zombies lingering at the ramp. The following vehicles quickly followed suit, crushing through and leaving behind pools of bloody remains silently fermenting. 0

Ten minutes later, they entered the bypass highway around the city. After a brief stop at the toll booth where human workers cleared away roadblocks, they set off again. As they drove onto suburban roads, they spread out according to their chosen routes, heading straight for a large Industrial Park hidden in darkness just over a kilometer away. 0

Coincidentally, at that moment when six vehicles dispersed, another convoy also emerged from within the encircled Industrial Park—interestingly enough, it consisted of six vehicles as well. However, unlike Song Jiu's ragtag group, this one was uniformly composed of Jinbei seven-seaters. 0

From above, six vehicles formed a long line as they drove along the park's roadway toward the western exit. The Jinbei at the tail end suddenly broke away from the formation; Cabin veered into an eastern route and sped off. According to Song Jiu's planned route, that solitary vehicle was headed straight toward Jiao Ziqian's location while the other five vehicles chose paths that overlapped with Song Jiu's. 0

The night was deepening while lights flickered on the ground. 0

The Roewe car cruised slowly along the wide suburban road; moonlight dimmed on the horizon as stars vanished behind clouds. All around were desolate and dilapidated commercial buildings of varying heights—like a ghost town. 0

"Almost there." Luo Yu steadied herself, her palms slightly sweaty on the steering wheel, a hint of nervousness creeping in. The road was dimly lit, and the sensation of driving with the headlights on always felt a bit strange, so she turned them off and slowed down. 0

Song Jiu let out a low hum, squinting out of the car window. A hundred meters ahead was a T-Junction, just as marked on the map. Three six-story office buildings loomed at the intersection. If they turned and drove straight, they would reach the west gate of the Industrial Park in five hundred meters. 0

The Azure Blue Sedan gradually picked up speed, the cabin swaying lightly as it brushed past two frail, staggering Zombies, heading straight onto the overgrown green median in the middle of the road, planning to take a shortcut by going against traffic. There would likely be lookout personnel at the entrance of the park; they had no guns and couldn't manage long-range sniping, so they had to cross the defense line as quickly as possible. 0

Luo Yu focused intently. As they approached the intersection, she instinctively turned on the high beams. The headlights illuminated the road ahead, and she froze for a moment before letting out a self-deprecating smile. However, before she could fully suppress her grin, her expression suddenly changed. At the instant she turned on the headlights, a beam of light flared up from around the corner. 0

As if on cue, Luo Yu hurriedly turned off her lights, and the other light vanished as well. 0

"Looks like we've been spotted," Song Jiu straightened up and murmured to himself. "They're here to block us." 0

"Right in front?" Luo Yu glanced at him. According to their previous plan, they needed to avoid collisions before reaching the park. If their opponents had already discovered them, they should abandon the turn and continue straight to evade confrontation. 0

"Don't engage." Song Jiu thought for a moment, suppressing his urge to confront them head-on. He instructed Luo Yu to keep going straight while fixing his gaze on the intersection to assess their opponents' situation. 0

In just a blink of an eye, they were upon it. 0

At the ninety-degree junction, a Roewe sped through first like a bolt of blue lightning, cutting through with a gust of wind. 0

In that fleeting moment as they crossed paths, Song Jiu couldn't help but widen his eyes in shock—there were so many! 0

At the intersection stood five Jinbei seven-seaters parked diagonally in the middle of the road. As the Roewe passed through, gunfire erupted. 0

"Shake them off!" Song Jiu exclaimed in surprise. It wasn't surprising that they had been noticed, but it was shocking that these people had dispatched five vehicles to intercept them with such determination. 0

Luo Yu was startled by the sudden gunfire. The small car sped up, and he glanced at the rearview mirror, noticing a few figures emerging from the intersection, only to retreat moments later. A few seconds later, beams of light illuminated the scene as five vehicles sped out in pursuit with clear intent. 0

Song Jiu scanned the map and decided to drive a bit further. A left turn would lead towards Jiao Ziqian's area, while continuing straight would take him toward Wu Wentao's route. If they were surrounded by those five cars, it would be better to gather in one place. After all, their strength was unequal; being trapped in a Dead End on enemy territory would be disastrous. 0

"Where to go?" Luo Yu asked, though his hands had already made a choice as he drove past the left turn and headed toward Wu Wentao's direction. 0

It was wiser to leave the confrontation with so many people to Wu Wentao rather than face them himself. 0

Meanwhile, Chang'an Little Benben slowed down on a long, straight road. 0

In the passenger seat, Ying Dou Dou seemed lost in thought as she stared at a Jinbei vehicle across the street that had also come to a stop. She murmured, "Waiting for an opportunity." 0

"Avoid it," Fang Fei, who was driving, hesitated before asking. Song Jiu's intention was to steer clear before entering the park; there was only one car on the opposing side, so playing cat and mouse should work. 0

In the back seat, Jiao Ziqian picked up the assigned Rifle, rolled down the window, and gritted his teeth as he said, "Charge through; I'll take him out with one shot." 0
