The Pharmaceutical Factory covered a considerable area, situated in the central part of the Industrial Park. The entire Industrial Zone had an oval shape, with a wide road dividing the massive oval into two irregular semicircles. The left side was smaller and concentrated on the Administrative Area and Living Area, while the larger right side contained the Production Area, Auxiliary Area, and Storage Area. Each region varied in scale and purpose, with slight differences in size. Based on what Luci observed, it seemed that the entire factory was still operational and had not been centrally managed due to the vastness of the Industrial Zone. 0

Luci entered through a wall in the middle of the front section, between the Administrative Area and Living Area. The building she had previously seen faintly illuminated was the Administrative Office Department, three stories high and standing alone after a small square at the main entrance. The greenery in front of the building was well-maintained, contrasting sharply with the overgrown areas outside the Pharmaceutical Factory. 0

After landing, Luci carefully concealed her tracks, hiding behind the shade of trees as she observed the administrative building. Thanks to her past experiences in the Gobi Desert, Luci did not recklessly venture inside but cautiously circled around the building. Noticing no surveillance equipment, she felt slightly reassured. It appeared that as a research division, the Security forces were still significantly less than those at their Gobi Desert headquarters. 0

Many vehicles were parked in the square near the main entrance, but from a distance, it was unclear if anyone was monitoring them. There were no patrol Security personnel around the White Building as expected. Behind the Administrative Building was a Fork in the Road; according to the signs, one path led to the Living Area while another delved deeper into the Storage Area. From their literal meanings, it seemed that the production workshop better matched the requirements of an Experimental Site; thus, these front sections were likely just ordinary workplaces for Internal Staff. 0

Luci felt puzzled. Aside from those insane experiments, what other tasks required such a large workforce at this scale of Pharmaceutical Factory? The number of staff should exceed a hundred; did an Experimental Site really need so many people? She vaguely remembered that during her time in the Gobi Desert, there had not been such a large personnel composition. 0

As a lone intruder facing danger, Luci's questions went unanswered. After patiently waiting for a moment and confirming there were no patrols, she quickly darted out from the Green Belt and sprinted along the base of the Administrative Building's wall. When she reached the front entrance, she paused for a moment before quietly stepping up onto the stairs and peeking through the glass doors. Inside was pitch black; there were no signs of bustling activity as she had imagined. 0

Not daring to enter recklessly, Luci observed through the glass door for a while before pulling out a marker to make a mark on one of the tiles. Then she swiftly retreated, using the cover of trees to slip back toward the rear section of the Industrial Zone. With no way to investigate personnel configurations further, she considered that earlier gunfire could serve as a comparative measure; if there were many Security personnel present, then ordinary internal staff and researchers would not be few either. As an Experimental Site, administrative logistics surely wouldn't be their main focus—the real action must lie deeper within. 0

In this isolated situation, probing further would not be wise; however, their manpower was limited. According to their pre-departure plan, earlier teams needed to take on scouting responsibilities because they could not rely on others' incompetence. If other teams encountered blockades and delayed waiting for help from those who arrived first, they might miss critical opportunities. 0

With utmost caution, Luci kept moving forward along her path. Every time she passed by a signpost, she left a mark. After all, her mission was to launch a surprise rescue operation; it didn't matter whether she would be discovered or not—the Industrial Zone was vast and it was their territory; playing hide-and-seek would be pointless. 0

The Industrial Zone primarily consisted of concrete surfaces with wide roads separating pedestrian traffic from logistics flow; there was hardly any exposed land and landscaping appeared relatively well-maintained—this place looked like it had taken considerable time to construct. Thinking about how close this ticking time bomb was to ancient cities made Luci shiver slightly; recalling Dr. Zhong's mention of the Dust Virus sent chills down her spine—could that sudden Acid Rain have any connection here? 0

Operating alone had its pros and cons: on one hand, there was no need to consider companions' situations; as long as her own conditions allowed it, plans could be adjusted based on actual circumstances. On the downside, without backup support from others, any oversight could easily lead her into an ambush. With heightened senses and decent physical condition backed by personal experience, Luci chose to stop and observe as she approached the latter half of the Industrial Zone. 0

There were no notable discoveries along her route until she neared a temporary scaffolding structure before entering deeper into that section of Industrial Zone—it was quite tall and covered with waterproof cloth. Luci slipped inside for a quick look but found nothing unusual; this scaffolding appeared old with rust covering it entirely—built into a giant framework whose purpose remained unknown. 0

Beyond was the wide road that cut across the Industrial Zone, serving as a dividing line that split the entire production area into two distinct sections. Numerous vehicles were parked along the road, and Luci glanced around, noting that the end of the road was blocked off, eliminating any possibility of zombies or others slipping through, ensuring the integrity of the Industrial Zone with only one entrance remaining. 0

Luci hesitated, her instincts warning her of danger. She felt as if eyes were watching her from the darkness across the road; if she crossed over, she would surely be spotted. After standing still for a long moment, Luci gritted her teeth and decided to retreat. She had already explored the first half and found no useful information. It would be more convenient to wait for the main group to arrive and enter through this road together. 0

Without any hesitation, Luci slipped back into the Green Belt along the wall, climbing up the trees lining the path. She glanced toward where she had entered, carefully perched on the wall's edge, ready to jump down when her peripheral vision caught a flash of bright light. 0

Luci furrowed her brow and quickly crouched down to maintain her balance. Turning to look at the source of the light, she saw a Golden Cup Van approaching from the main road near the entrance. Leading it was a Jinbei Car that drove straight through the gate, speeding along the path Luci had just taken. 0

Almost simultaneously, at the other end of the main road, a Cherokee and an SRT drove side by side, arriving late. 0

"What’s going on?" Luci was stunned. 0

In that moment of distraction, the Jinbei had already passed by the Green Belt and crossed the road, heading deeper into the Industrial Zone. Luci remained on top of the wall, watching as the Jinbei Car disappeared into the darkness. She felt uncertain about whether to follow that vehicle or regroup with her teammates. 0

Quickly, Luci made her choice. She jumped back inside and ran after the Jinbei. 0

The reason was simple: a confrontation had broken out at the entrance. 0

Luci's brief contemplation did not affect the two teams facing each other at the narrow entrance. The lead vehicle did not stop, but two vehicles behind it blocked the way. The four cars were separated by several dozen meters, staring at each other from a distance. After a few breaths, Cherokee fired first. 0

Wu Wentao rolled down his window and leaned halfway out, resting his G3 rifle on his shoulder. A burst of bullets flew out without warning, catching their opponents off guard. 0

"You guys go in!" Wu Wentao shouted at SRT while giving quick orders below. The driver’s face turned serious as she pressed down on the accelerator, heading straight toward the two vehicles blocking their way. Song Jiu was simply unlucky to have run into a team preparing to head to National Highway for an operation. 0

What Goes Around Comes Around. This time, the troops were caught off guard. Why did so many targets suddenly appear at their doorstep? Wasn't it said that there was only one vehicle? 0

The commander was a middle-aged man, not directly part of Kenny's team. Two years ago, Kenny expanded the Field Duty team, selecting a group from many Survivors and training them under the Field Operations Team. They managed to train dozens of temporary personnel. The Commander had never handled a gun before and had average combat skills, but among the trainees, he was considered to have relatively strong leadership abilities, which led to his assignment as the head of Security for the division. 0

For the Commander, this was undoubtedly a good position. Everyone knew that the Experimental Base rarely faced any significant issues; it was mostly about clearing Zombies or assisting the laboratory with searches. This Experimental Base had been stationed for a long time, and for two years it had been largely ignored. The Zombies had mostly been eradicated, and the few remaining Hordes were kept as experimental materials. The Field Duty personnel truly lived like bandits. 0

Today was fortunate; they intercepted two Survivors on the National Highway and had just sent them back to the research facility when new information came in from the National Highway. What was supposed to be a short trip to capture people unexpectedly turned into a fierce battle at their doorstep. 0

The information that Song Jiu and his team had came from various sources, while the Commander's information came from the laboratory and the National Highway. Song Jiu's team split into six groups to deal with the imagined enemy, but no new messages were relayed from the National Highway, so all the Commander knew was that there was a sapphire blue car. 0

Thus, an unexpected yet reasonable melee began. 0

The siblings worked together to wear down a wave of enemies. Now it was Wu Wentao's turn. The former Field Duty Leader faced off against the new Field Duty forces with just a handful of people—who would prove stronger? 0
