"Xiao Lin, what are you doing?" Gu Chen asked, furrowing his brow as he looked at me.
I quickly replied, "Master, that sunken ship just reappeared! This is really a Mirage!" I turned to look back at it.
But as I did, a shiver ran through me, and I couldn't help but tighten my brows in confusion. "What’s going on? Why has it disappeared again?"
Gazing at the empty expanse of sea before me, the azure waves rolled gently with the breeze, yet that massive ship had vanished once more. Even the people on board had disappeared, leaving only the sound of the waves behind—no laughter or chatter to be heard.
Could this really be a Mirage?
I couldn't believe it.
Noticing my furrowed brow, Gu Chen asked again, "Did you see that ship again?"
"Yes."
I nodded and said, "Not only did I see the ship, but there were also many people on it. They seemed to be foreigners."
With a puzzled expression, I continued, "But how could they vanish in the blink of an eye? This Mirage is truly fascinating."
Although I was confused, I didn't dwell on it too much and muttered to myself.
However, Brother Luo couldn't help but interject, "That's not right. As far as I know, while a Mirage is an illusion, once it appears, it should last for at least a while. How could it suddenly appear and then disappear again?"
He seemed deep in thought, struggling to make sense of it all.
"It's not a Mirage," He Si said, his brow furrowing deeply as well.
"Brother Luo, where is our ship right now?"
Just as everyone was feeling puzzled and uncertain, Gu Chen suddenly asked this question, drawing all curious gazes toward him.
"Brother Luo said, 'I'm not quite sure. How about I go ask Hou Guli?'"
"Okay, hurry up," Gu Chen nodded, his expression seemingly serious.
"Master, what's going on? Is something wrong?" His demeanor made me uneasy, prompting me to ask.
"It's nothing. Everyone, let's head into the cabin," he replied casually before turning and walking toward the cabin.
Although I felt confused and had a nagging sense that something might happen, I couldn't figure out why, so I decided not to dwell on it.
However, I was certain it had to do with the enormous ship that had suddenly appeared and then vanished moments ago.
Thinking back, its appearance was indeed rather strange. With that thought in mind, I quickly followed Mu Yan and Mingyue into the cabin with He Si and the others. I hesitated to look back, fearing that if I did, that massive ship would reappear on the surface of the sea, back in my line of sight.
Once inside the cabin, Brother Luo approached us quickly from a distance, calling out loudly, "Senior Gu! I asked Hou Guli. He said we are still near Newfoundland Island and haven't traveled far."
"Newfoundland Island?" Gu Chen seemed to have not heard clearly and asked again.
"Yes, Newfoundland Island," Brother Luo confirmed once more.
But after hearing this, Gu Chen lowered his head, furrowing his brow as he began to mutter, "Newfoundland Island, Newfoundland Island, Newfoundland Island."
He paced back and forth, repeating those four words as if he were quite anxious, which left all of us puzzled.
"Gu, Senior Gu, what's wrong?" Brother Luo tentatively asked, but Gu Chen ignored him and continued repeating those words with a troubled expression.
"Master, are you okay?" Seeing him like this made me worried as well.
"Senior Gu!" He Si also called out in confusion.
Suddenly, Gu Chen looked up, his gaze sweeping over us as he asked, "Does anyone know what happened near Newfoundland Island?"
"What happened?"
His sudden question left us all even more puzzled, and for a moment, we were at a loss for how to respond.
I softly repeated the four words Gu Chen had just mentioned: Newfoundland Island.
Then, it struck me. My expression changed as I looked at Gu Chen and exclaimed, "I remember now!"
"You remembered?"
Instantly, all eyes turned to me.
"Lin Hao, what did you remember?" He Si asked, noticing my pale face.
"Do you all remember the Titanic that sank in the Atlantic?" I said quietly.
"The Titanic that sank in the Atlantic?"
As He Si repeated my words, I could see their expressions darkening when they lifted their heads again.
"The Titanic," Brother Luo's voice was heavy, like a stone dropping into the depths of our hearts.
"That's right, it was indeed the Titanic." I nodded firmly.
In 1912, the Titanic sank in the Atlantic, and its sinking location was near Newfoundland Island.
What was even more terrifying was that according to the information Brother Luo had obtained from Hou Guli, our current location was also near Newfoundland Island.
As the recently appeared yet vanished Titanic came to mind, along with the foreign nobles who mingled aboard, my face suddenly turned pale.
The Titanic and the foreign nobles were not hard to imagine.
At that moment, it wasn't just me who looked grim; everyone's expression turned serious.
Even Brother Luo, having dealt with Gu Chen in the past and due to some experiences, instantly recalled something. With a trembling voice, he looked at Gu Chen and asked, "Gu, Senior Gu, what should we do now?"
Although Gu Chen's face was grave, he showed no signs of fear. He glanced at us and calmly said, "Everyone shouldn't worry too much; perhaps we are overthinking this."
"Mm."
We all nodded silently, but the worry and gravity in our hearts did not dissipate; instead, it grew into a sense of impending crisis.
After his words, Gu Chen turned to Brother Luo and said lightly, "Although it's just a guess, for safety's sake, Brother Luo, please go to the bridge again and tell Hou Guli to quickly steer the ship away from this position and increase the distance from Newfoundland Island."
"Okay, I'll go right away." Brother Luo nodded seriously at his words without any hesitation and immediately turned to jog away.
However, by nightfall, we had not increased our distance from Newfoundland Island. On the contrary, we were gradually approaching another location that sent chills down our spines—a place that was terrifying just to think about.
