The soul of Old Master Xu did not emerge, nor did the soul of the Japanese Soldier. By nightfall, even if the Spirit God did not appear, it could still be detected using a compass, which was not surprising. 0

Since there was no one else around, I could boldly begin to set up the Call of Souls. I arranged a Soul Calling Array with a very limited effective range, just enough to cover this small clearing. Honestly, I was unsure whether the Japanese spirit would understand the Chinese Call of Souls incantation. 0

I activated the formation for the Call of Souls. Although it felt awkward, it succeeded, allowing me to breathe a sigh of relief. The ability to call upon souls indicated that communication was possible. This indirectly suggested that the Japanese Spirit understood Chinese. I had no idea how souls were handled in the Island Nation, but methods may differ while principles remain the same. 0

The moment the Japanese Spirit appeared, I felt an inexplicable sense of loss and pity. It was hard to describe that feeling in words; perhaps this was one of the most tragic Spirit Gods I had ever seen. Its right leg was completely missing below the knee. Its left hand had also been deformed, and its face was not as pale as that of an ordinary Spirit God; instead, it was marred by streaks of blood and tears. It had short hair, but it was so sparse that a smooth scalp could hardly be seen. The numerous Blood Holes on its head created a pockmarked appearance: those Japanese ghosts were truly cunning. They were incredibly crafty. Hence, we were largely unaffected by the Japanese Soldiers. 0

However, one Grandmaster from our Qiaoling had been conscripted during the Anti-Japanese War and participated in real combat for several years. Many heart-stopping stories were shared with me by my master. I have notes on these stories and hope to write them down for you all someday. 0

Returning to the Taijun Spirit, after being abandoned, it had nowhere to go and dared not enter the village. It could only hide in the mountains and steal food from what villagers grew—sweet potatoes, corn, potatoes—taking whatever it could find. In this way, it survived for about a month and a half. During the day, it hid in a cave in the mountains and came out at night to steal food from the fields. 0

One night while digging for sweet potatoes, Old Master Xu caught it red-handed. The spirit understood some Chinese but spoke very haltingly and wore a Japanese soldier's uniform. It had no means to resist. This was serious; everyone was struggling to find enough food, and grain was especially precious. When Old Master Xu confirmed that he was dealing with a Japanese Soldier, without saying a word, he swung his hoe and broke one of its hands. 0

Then another blow struck its head, knocking this General unconscious. At that moment, Xu thought he had killed him. He felt nervous; this was his first time taking a life, even if it was a Japanese person. That fear clouded his judgment. Old Master Xu acted decisively; he found a place and dug a deep pit overnight to bury the General. 0

To keep it discreet, Old Master Xu did not dig horizontally but instead dug a vertical pit over a meter deep. He worked through most of the night until dawn before placing the General inside. After putting him in, he began to fill in the dirt. Just then, as soon as the General was thrown into that pit, he suddenly woke up. This startled Old Master Xu terribly. In panic, he grabbed a stick nearby and began to strike at the General's head. 0

A stick could not compare to a hoe; no matter how hard he hit, he couldn't knock out this General—only making him scream loudly in pain. The General begged for mercy while shouting until exhaustion set in and pain overwhelmed him; he eventually ceased his resistance as harsh reality forced him to accept his tragic fate. 0

This chapter is dedicated to all those who tirelessly supported my voting efforts; I am deeply moved and won’t say much more—it's all in the wine. Goodnight for real this time; thank you all for your support. Sweet dreams! 0
