However, what Master Pan pulled out left me utterly astonished. I thought he was going to take something to deal with the Insect of Sorcery, but instead, he produced a small iron hammer. Master Pan didn’t directly smash the lock; instead, he handed it to Master Xiao and said, “Break it open.” 0

Before Master Xiao could swing the hammer, someone burst in from outside. 0

It was Brother Zhou, panting heavily as he said, “Not good, Master X and Master Pan! My sister Xiaorou has also been possessed by a malevolent spirit. My master sent me to ask you both for help in exorcising her.” 0

“What? When did this happen? Where is Miss Xiaorou now?” the master asked calmly. 0

Brother Zhou swallowed hard and gasped for breath. “It should have been last night. She’s at her home. This morning when she woke up, she started screaming. Anyone who got close to her, she would try to hit them and kept scratching her head and body. My master said it’s a ghost possession. So I rushed to the hotel to find you, but you weren’t there. My master thought you might be here, so I drove over. If we wait any longer, my sister might end up hurting herself.” 0

Hearing Brother Zhou's description made me worry a bit; poor Xiaorou had become like this—it was quite frightening. 0

“Let’s go back and check on her,” the master said as he turned to leave, with Master Pan following suit. 0

Just as I was about to leave, Master Xiao grabbed my arm and said, “What about the lock?” 0

“Forget about the lock. Even if you break it open now, what will it matter? Let’s go back first,” I replied anxiously. 0

After stepping outside and following the master for a few paces, I noticed that Brother Zhou had already walked quite far ahead. The master suddenly stopped and said, “You and Xiao Xiao stay here. Quickly dig a pit at each of the four corners of this room and put some grains in it. Also take this—bury it with soil. Don’t touch that locked room for now. Call me if anything comes up.” After saying this, he handed me four talismans. 0

I nodded in agreement. Seeing that we didn’t need to return immediately, Master Xiao also nodded eagerly. Master Pan thought for a moment and said, “Xiao, use this chicken blood to seal that door, then prepare nine Peach Wood Nails.” He handed a bottle of red liquid to Master Xiao. 0

It was a bottle of chicken blood; normally chicken blood would coagulate over time, but with added heparin, it could remain liquid indefinitely. If one got hungry without food, it could even serve as sustenance. Truly an essential item for home travel or dealing with spirits. 0

After Master Xiao and I took the items, the two masters hurried after Brother Zhou. Master Xiao chuckled and said, “Let’s get started.” His eyes gleamed with mischief as I kicked him lightly and said, “You dig the pit; I’ll handle putting things in.” 0

“Why do I have to dig again?” 0

I shot back with an irrefutable four-word truth: “Because you’re fat.” 0

Without a shovel or spade available, even though there was plenty of earth around Tsuchiya's area, it was still quite difficult to dig without tools. I searched around for something that could help me dig while Master Xiao looked at me curiously and asked what I was doing. 0

"I said not to look for things, just dig with your hands," Master Xiao chuckled, without saying much. He handed me the bottle of chicken blood in his right hand and raised the hammer in his left, saying, "Today, let me, Master Xiao the Great Magician, perform a magic trick for you." 0

He unscrewed the head of the hammer, which could also be twisted off. Once opened, there was a hole where the handle could be inserted. The other side of the hammerhead had two sharp points used for pulling nails. After inserting the handle into the hole, it transformed into a small blunt tool, similar to a small shovel. It was perfect for digging small holes. 0

"What a great tool! Give it to me," I couldn't help but envy him. This thing was truly multifunctional; I would often need to dig and shovel in the future. The tool my master gave me was a small folding shovel, which took up space and could only be used for digging soil. 0

Master Xiao said, "This was passed down from my master's master. He had it specially made by a blacksmith using Black Iron. Moreover, this hammer has been blessed and can even be used as a magical tool. There’s only this one; I can't even get my hands on it, let alone you." After saying this, Master Xiao turned and walked toward one corner of the house. 0

"You fool, start digging at that corner. Dig counterclockwise from this corner. Do you even understand?" I joked while pointing at the right corner of the house. 0

Master Xiao scratched his head awkwardly and said, "I was just checking if the soil is easy to dig; I never said I would start from this corner." 0

After burying the four corners, Master Xiao began preparing to seal the door with chicken blood. By then, it was almost ten in the morning, and bright sunlight streamed into the room. The Jar inside was also visible from outside, meaning that whatever hole the Jar was placed in could be seen from inside. 0

"What is that thing you have?" Master Xiao asked as he finished drawing symbols on the door and noticed me holding a Jar. 0

"I don't know; I pried it off the wall," I pointed to the hole in the wall. Master Xiao walked over and snatched the Jar from my hands, saying, "Let me see what it is." 0

I quickly stopped him and said, "It might be a curse; don't open it, you fool." 0

Upon hearing that it might be a curse, he halted his hand that was about to twist open the Jar and looked at me, saying, "So what should we do now? Should we put this thing back?" 0

I replied, "Of course not! I still want to see what's inside." 0

Master Xiao grinned lewdly and said, "Then that's easy." After saying that, he stepped out of Tsuchiya and walked over to a large rock about twenty or thirty meters away outside. He raised his hand and forcefully smashed the Jar against the rock. 0

With a crisp sound of shattering glass, the Jar broke apart upon hitting the stone, and clumps of something spilled out. 0

"What is this?" Master Xiao mumbled as he walked over. I was also curious about what it was and followed him. 0

As we got closer, we were taken aback to see that inside were tightly coiled centipedes—some large and some small. The smaller ones were already upside down with their hundred legs in the air while some of the larger ones were still wriggling around; others had flipped over but remained crawling in circles on the ground. 0

There were hundreds of centipedes, most of them already dead, while the few that were still alive spun in circles on the spot. The centipedes were not black but a dark red color. Under the sunlight, each centipede appeared translucent. 0

Although I wasn't afraid of centipedes, I did have a slight fear of clusters of objects, and that pile of centipedes made my scalp tingle a bit. 0

"Disgusting," Master Xiao spat. "They are definitely not good news. I'm going to gather some firewood to burn them." 0

I replied, "No need. They haven't turned into pests yet, but they can't escape now. Centipedes prefer the shade; they won't survive long in this sunlight. Let them perish on their own." 0

"Alright then," Master Xiao said, turning to head towards the Tsuchiya. 0

"Wait," I said, grabbing Master Xiao and pulling him behind a stone to hide. "Someone's coming." 0

I had business during the day and only returned in the afternoon, barely making it out in time. Apologies for being a minute late. 0
