Master Pan swiftly threw a stone the size of a fist, which accurately struck a rock beneath the Small Coffin. With a loud thud, the supporting stone crumbled, causing the coffin to sway. Master Pan shouted for me to move aside and turned to leave, clearly worried that the coffin might fall on him. 0

I reacted quickly; as soon as the coffin began to wobble, I had already stepped aside. The Small Coffin slid down the slope and came to an abrupt stop at the bottom, its inertia causing the lid to fly open halfway, while the other half remained on top of the coffin. 0

From our angle, Master Pan and I couldn't see inside the coffin. So, once it settled on the ground, we cautiously approached it. 0

Master Pan led the way, raising a hand to stop me. He bent low, appearing very cautious. I couldn't help but underestimate him, saying, "Master Pan, it must just be that Senior Master’s Corpse inside. There's no need to be this careful." Master Pan replied, "I'm afraid there might be something else." 0

A chill ran down my spine at his words, and I quickly pulled out two Exorcism Talismans from my Cloth Bag. Slowly, I moved closer to the coffin. 0

The coffin was ancient, but surprisingly little grease had fallen off it. This was likely due to the humidity and temperature of the surrounding air; when I shone my Flashlight on it, there was still a faint reflection. 0

Just as we were about a meter away from the coffin, Master Pan stopped and lifted his head to look inside. Just as I was about to take a closer look myself, Master Pan yanked me back and whispered, "As I suspected, this Senior Master’s Corpse has already been destroyed." 0

I felt puzzled; what I had seen didn’t seem unusual. The headless corpse of the Senior Master I had glimpsed earlier was wearing nothing but a pair of white shorts and appeared extremely stiff. Its body was glistening as if coated in a layer of white wax. 0

"Even if it was destroyed, it shouldn't be able to run away. Is it really that terrifying?" I thought dismissively; after all, it was just a decaying corpse. 0

Master Pan chuckled and said, "Why don’t you take a look for yourself? Just don’t get too close." 0

Skeptical of his warning, I returned to my previous position, stood on tiptoe, and raised my Flashlight to peer into the coffin. 0

The coffin lay diagonally at the bottom of the slope. Dark yellowish water slowly oozed from between the lid and body of the coffin, emitting a foul stench. The open upper half revealed part of its body; however, unlike what I had seen before, it was not as intact or smooth. The muscles and skin were nearly rotted away, exposing several stark white ribs. 0

Without a head, it looked somewhat terrifying; yet even so, it shouldn’t have scared Master Pan enough for him to retreat behind me. Just as I pondered this, I suddenly noticed something writhing within the corpse's chest cavity. A shiver ran through me; curiosity compelled me not to step back but rather change angles to observe more closely. 0

"What is that?" I asked Master Pan in confusion. Before he could respond, I watched in horror as the corpse's chest cavity suddenly tore open. Layers of flesh erupted outward as if a bomb had exploded inside—like some grotesque slow-motion lens effect—making me feel nauseous. 0

"Don't look anymore; that's a snake," Master Pan whispered from behind. 0

Upon hearing Master Pan's words, I instinctively pulled back the flashlight and turned to run. To my shock, it really did look like a snake. There were so many of them visible in the chest cavity, and I couldn't even imagine how many more were lurking in the lower half of the coffin. These snakes were not harmless; it seemed they were breeding right inside the coffin. This was a bit hard to believe—both the formation itself and the coffin were tightly sealed. How could there be snakes inside? 0

But there was no time to ponder this further; my immediate concern was how to escape. If all these snakes decided to attack, we would be in serious trouble. 0

"How could there be so many snakes in the coffin? What should we do? We should probably get out of here. With the corpse like this, there's no hope for the Senior Master’s revival," I whispered to Master Pan. 0

Master Pan didn’t answer my barrage of questions but simply asked what time it was. 0

I shone the flashlight on my watch and replied, "It's just past five... It will be dark soon." 0

"The Senior Master's hiding place must have been tampered with, which is why this situation has arisen. When the Senior Master left this morning, he likely sensed that his own body was unusable and decided to depart. If he were to return tonight and see this scene, he would definitely know that someone had meddled with the formation after his death. He would be furious and might even unleash the suppressed resentment within his soul, losing all rationality. That would make things very difficult..." 0

I nodded in agreement; anyone would find it intolerable to have something like this happen after preparing for most of their life, only to be betrayed by their own partner. It was easy to lose one's mind over such a betrayal, especially since he had now transformed into a heavy Yin Qi spirit, capable of changing completely in an instant. 0

However, thinking it through, perhaps the master who tampered with things had done a good deed after all. He must have been confident that the Senior Master's resurrection plan would fail, and in order to prevent further chaos, he acted secretly. As it turned out, that master’s guess was entirely correct—the Senior Master had not given up and still wanted to continue causing trouble. What he failed to consider was how the disciples left behind would deal with it if the Senior Master turned against them. 0

Master Pan said that old man would surely be furious, and I felt a wave of dread wash over me. If the Senior Master truly went on a rampage, I—an innocent Little Taoist—would be among the first to face his wrath. 0

Why me? Because when they initially discussed trying this new Daoist technique, opinions were split into two factions; one side firmly opposed it, and those most likely to meddle were among that opposition—led by my Grandmaster. 0

Now that my Grandmaster had long passed away, this debt would undoubtedly fall on future generations. Without a doubt, only my master and I remained as descendants of Qiaoling. My master had never met him, and we had long since moved out of the original temple. However, I had encountered him several times and felt his chilling winds sweep past me. Under these circumstances, it would be all too easy for him to seek revenge on me. 0

The more I thought about it, the more terrified I became. I quickly shared my concerns with Master Pan. He frowned and said, "Well now, if you hadn't mentioned you were from Qiaoling, things might have been fine. But now that you have... you're definitely going to face retribution. Why are you so careless?" 0

I couldn't believe it; who knew there was such a twist? I quickly said, "Master Pan, please stop pointing at me. The urgent matter is that we need to figure out what to do. It's almost dark, and the Binding Formation will soon become ineffective. That Senior Master might arrive at any moment. If they come, we won't be able to escape. I'm sure the two of us are no match for them. We should hurry and find a safe place to prepare before night falls." 0

Master Pan shook his head and replied, "What’s the point of running out to prepare? We're in the mountains; by the time we get home, it will likely be dark. When that Senior Master sees this situation, they'll quickly understand what's happened. If we're still on the road then, we'll be trapped. It’s better not to run; if we do, it will only complicate things further, and we won’t have time to prepare. So this plan won’t work. Since we still have some time, it’s better to prepare here." 0

I anxiously said, "Are you suggesting that we restore the coffin and reset the formation so that the Senior Master won't see that someone has tampered with this place? If you think that's feasible, then fine. You can direct me while I move things." With that, I headed toward the pile of collapsed stones. 0

Turning around and seeing the coffin made me deflate; I realized how absurd my idea was. 0

"You may not have the ability to restore the formation, but we can take some precautionary measures here. In case the Senior Master comes looking for you, we’ll have some means of defense. This way, we won't be too passive; this is the safest approach for now," Master Pan said. 0

Looking at Master Pan's serious expression made me sigh internally, filling me with guilt. I knew about the Senior Master's strength; I didn't know how much stronger they were than Master Pan, but I was certain they were at least equal or superior. This was a responsibility I had taken on; initially, my master said it would be a great merit. I never expected it would lead to this situation. If anything happened to Master Pan because of this, I didn’t know if I could forgive myself or how I would face Master Xiao. 0

However, thinking it through, if something happened to Master Pan, I would definitely be in front of him because that Senior Master would target me first. In that case, there would be no need to explain anything to Master Xiao. 0

At six o'clock sharp. Thank you to "One Meter of Gentle Breeze" for twenty flowers. "I am Little Ming" for a diamond. "Frost123" for ten flowers. "qq150703092805" for a cup of fine wine; thank you for your support! There will be an update tonight as well. 0
