At the moment I exerted all my strength, I truly felt the vast difference in power between this Senior Master and an ordinary Spirit God. Before the Ink Fight Line could tighten, my hands already throbbed painfully, and it became difficult to apply more force. 0

It seemed that the Senior Master did not expect me to strike at it. When I grabbed it, it was not significantly affected; instead, it slowly turned its head to look at me in disbelief. However, in an instant, it reacted and raised its hands sharply, attempting to grasp me. 0

Having prepared for a delay, I swiftly extended my right foot and kicked at it before its hands could fully rise. 0

It felt as if I had kicked a wall; it merely staggered back two steps from my kick, while I was thrown back by the tremendous impact, crashing against the stone wall inside the Small Stone Cave. Instantly, my back felt like it was on fire, and my chest ached as if struck by a hammer, nearly causing me to spit blood. 0

At the same time I kicked the Senior Master, Master Pan quickly approached the entrance of the Small Stone Cave, raising his Peach Wood Sword and swinging it fiercely at the creature. Following that, several talismans flew from his hands, all landing on the Senior Master without exception. The incantations were chanted rapidly without pause; as the talismans struck its body, Master Pan thrust his Peach Wood Sword forward toward its chest. 0

With a muffled "thud," the Peach Wood Sword pierced into its Soul. It let out an angry "ah," and just as I was about to feel triumphant, Master Pan was suddenly struck by the Senior Master's flailing hands and was sent hurtling back toward the Small Stone Cave. I hurriedly stepped forward to catch him as he stumbled backward and spun around to pull him into the cave. 0

Master Pan gasped for breath, a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth, yet his gaze remained resolute as he gripped his Peach Wood Sword firmly. However, the Flashlight had slipped from his hand and fell to the ground nearby, casting light onto the right wall of the Small Stone Cave. 0

Looking again at the Senior Master's Soul, it no longer exuded its previous dominance; what had once been a solid Soul began to appear somewhat ethereal. It seemed that Master Pan's strike had not been insignificant. 0

Master Pan took a moment to steady himself before suddenly sitting on the ground. He opened his Heaven and Earth Bag and quickly pulled out a pair of red candles, placing them on either side of the Small Stone Cave. He then took out a bronze bell and began shaking it continuously while muttering incantations. Watching Master Pan's actions left me bewildered; I cautiously glanced at the Senior Master's Soul nearby, calculating its next move in my mind. 0

To my surprise, the Senior Master merely glanced at us before snorting coldly and floating away, disappearing from near the Small Stone Cave. 0

I couldn't comprehend what this meant at first. Had it sustained too much injury to remain? Watching Master Pan continue to shake the bell and chant spells left me with questions that I dared not voice; he was reinforcing the protective talismans at the cave entrance—this was not a moment to interrupt him. 0

After a brief moment, Master Pan stopped. He tilted his head to look around at the cave entrance but said nothing. 0

"Master Pan, are you alright?" 0

Master Pan shook his head and replied, "I'm fine. How about you?" 0

I said, "Thanks to Master Pan's timely intervention, I'm not seriously hurt. But what about that Senior Master? Wasn't he severely injured by your sword? Why did he leave so suddenly?" 0

Master Pan shook his head and replied, "Leave? How could he leave? Right now, he is a Soul filled with resentment and hatred. He won't easily depart until he achieves his goal. As long as you're here, he will remain lurking nearby. If you don't believe me, just open your eyes and see." 0

I shook my head in response. "I won't open my eyes. I have no way to deal with him anyway, and opening my eyes would be pointless; it wouldn't help at all. So what should we do now?" 0

Master Pan smiled wryly and said, "If you were your master, you would be the one asking me what to do. I heard from Xiao X that when you were working together, you had plenty of clever ideas. Why are you silent now?" 0

"Hehe, Master Pan is joking. How can I compare to my master? In situations like this, none of my clever ideas seem to work. When I called earlier, my master repeatedly instructed me to listen to you. Now that he's not here, please think a bit harder about what we should do next," I replied. 0

Master Pan didn't seem to take my words seriously. He was similar to Master Xiao; when working with someone else, he didn't like to be the one doing the thinking. However, given the current situation, his partner was essentially someone without combat ability. 0

"What time is it?" Master Pan asked. 0

I raised my hand towards the red candle and checked the time. "It's half an hour until Midnight." 0

Master Pan nodded. "Midnight is when Yin Qi is at its peak; it will definitely try to assault our defenses again. However, if we can withstand this attack and leave it with no options, we should be able to get through tonight safely." 0

"It's already injured; we should be fine holding this position, right?" I asked with some concern. 0

Master Pan nodded and took out a very old book from his Heaven and Earth Bag. He flipped to a few pages at the back and handed it to me, saying, "This contains the incantation for enhancing and solidifying our defensive talismans. Memorize it quickly; when Midnight arrives and it assaults our defenses, we will chant this together. After Midnight passes, we'll take turns reciting it so we can safely get through tonight. Once sunlight streams into the cave tomorrow morning around ten o'clock, we can go outside." 0

"Okay." I took the ancient book and quickly processed Master Pan's plan in my mind. It was similar to what I had thought; he must have calculated the timing long ago. The cave entrance would allow sunlight in around ten in the morning. As long as we could reach the sunlight, we would be safe. I just wasn't sure how far the sunlight would reach. 0

The incantation resembled a Buddhist scripture—several hundred characters long—making it more challenging to memorize than typical Taoist spells. After about ten minutes of effort, I managed to memorize the entire incantation that Master Pan showed me. This was quite a benefit; otherwise, I wouldn't have had access to such powerful spells for enhancing defensive talismans in ordinary circumstances. 0

Looking back, Master Pan had actually fallen asleep against the wall, even letting out a faint snore. Glancing at the clock, there were still more than ten minutes until Midnight, so I decided not to wake him. He deserved a bit of rest. He was exhausted; after finishing dinner at Second Master's house in the afternoon, he had been here for a full six or seven hours without a moment's break. This was indeed quite taxing for an older Master. 0

I felt relieved that Master Pan was here. His understanding of spirits far exceeded mine. From the moment we began breaking through the barrier formation here, everything unfolded according to his expectations. The preparations he made in advance had proven effective, and he was certain that Senior Master would become a vengeful Soul. Moreover, that Soul would be watching me for revenge, so everything was developing according to his plan. What puzzled me was why Senior Master had changed so drastically after crawling into the coffin. 0

I initially thought this incident would be an opportunity to accumulate great merit, but it had turned into a calamity. And now, Master Pan was dragged into it as well; perhaps this was also a trial for him. Everything in the universe seems to have its own fate; I just didn't know how this calamity would ultimately conclude. 0

Lost in thought, I began to wonder about my absent master. If my master and Master Pan had come together to handle this situation, would it have been easier? I recalled what Master Pan had said: "If you were your master, the one asking what to do would be me." That statement made me feel ashamed; as fellow Spirit Mediums, the gap between my master and me felt like an insurmountable chasm. 0

I took out my phone to send a text to my master but found there was no signal. To make matters worse, the screen had cracked during my earlier tumble. It was a brand new phone that I had just bought at great expense. 0

Just two or three minutes before Midnight, Master Pan woke up as expected. I was now completely in awe of him; if he said Midnight would come, it surely would. So even if he fell asleep, he would wake up before its arrival. 0

The first thing Master Pan said upon waking was, "Time is almost up; have you memorized your incantation?" 0

Here’s the first installment for six o'clock. Thanks to One Meter of Gentle Breeze for the twenty flowers. 0
