Once Mr. Huang's Soul solidified, the atmosphere in the living room changed instantly, but I knew this was only temporary.
Upon seeing Sister Li, Mr. Huang couldn't help but move closer. However, Sister Li looked at Mr. Huang and seemed almost unable to recognize him. She wanted to approach but hesitated, feeling conflicted and torn inside, her body frozen in indecision. When Mr. Huang leaned forward, he startled Sister Li, causing her to take a few steps back. Liu Bi quickly stepped forward to grab Mr. Huang, preventing him from advancing any further.
Everyone could see Mr. Huang, but Liu Bi remained invisible. So when Liu Bi held onto Mr. Huang, it created a peculiar sight, as if an invisible person was pulling him forward, yet he couldn't move an inch.
I recited a passage from the Soul Requiem, gradually stabilizing Mr. Huang.
After finishing, I pointed my umbrella at Master Wang and the doctor and said, "You two, in your greed for Mr. Huang's inheritance, are even willing to harm his soul. Do you have any idea of the sins you are committing?"
As soon as I spoke, Mr. Huang turned his head and glared resentfully at the doctor and Master Wang. The doctor couldn't bear the intensity of Mr. Huang's gaze and immediately ran toward the other three thugs. Master Wang also flinched, taking two steps back to glance at the four individuals in the corner. Suddenly regaining his composure, he said, "Who are you trying to scare with a broken soul? What can it do to me? If it has the guts, let it come and kill me."
After saying this, Master Wang walked over to the corner and addressed them: "Don't worry; there's nothing to fear—it's just a soul. It can't do anything significant; trust me on this. Take this—one for each of you—hold it tightly in your hands. With this talisman, you won't have anything to fear." As he spoke, he handed them protective charms that had already been folded into triangular shapes.
Taking advantage of Master Wang's distraction, I turned to Sister Li, who still looked shaken: "Are those agreements you signed all on this table?"
Sister Li replied, "No, that's just the property transfer agreement; everything else is in his bag." She pointed toward the doctor, who was carrying a single-shoulder bag.
"Forget it for now," I said as I grabbed the property agreement from the table and tore it into pieces.
Seeing me tear up the agreement, Wang quickly exclaimed, "If we don't act now, we'll end up with nothing! It's just a ghost; what are you afraid of? I'll handle it; you go take care of that Liu!" Without hesitation, he lunged toward us with the talisman in hand.
Mr. Huang was fragile; it was already difficult for him to materialize. Aside from looking terrifying, he had little capacity for resistance. I felt a surge of dread; if Master Wang succeeded in his attack, the remaining individuals would undoubtedly charge at me without hesitation.
In an instant, I spotted Liu Bi and felt a sense of calm wash over me. However, I underestimated their courage; upon seeing Wang rush forward, they all charged after him as well. Clearly, their fear had dissipated with the prospect of quick money—if they could take me down first, they would consider themselves successful.
Wang was cunning; although he was the first to charge at me, he slowed his pace significantly. By the time the other three were nearly upon us, he still hadn't reached me while they were closing in fast. In their minds, I posed no real threat as a living person.
I quickly pulled out a small dagger from my pocket and waved it threateningly while saying, "Come on then; if you have what it takes!" The moment they saw my dagger, the three paused abruptly and began scanning the living room for any suitable weapons they could use against me.
They paused for a moment, allowing Master Wang, who had been charging towards Mr. Huang from behind, to overtake them. Clenching a talisman in his hand, he swung a punch directly at Mr. Huang's head.
Regardless of whether the talisman had any significant effect, it was clear that it was genuine; otherwise, he wouldn't have dared to be so bold. Mr. Huang appeared utterly weak, standing there like a living target. If others weren't afraid, the talisman would be of no use at all.
However, what Wang didn't know was that Liu Bi was standing right in front of Mr. Huang. Before his punch could reach Mr. Huang, it struck Liu Bi instead. I saw it clearly; Liu Bi turned slightly and floated up a bit, and Wang's punch landed squarely on Liu Bi's back. Liu Bi's expression changed only slightly, a fleeting moment before he burst into laughter. The talisman might have some effect on Mr. Huang, but for Liu Bi, it felt no different than a tickle.
Yet Liu Bi wasn't one to let things slide easily. With a mournful expression, he turned to me and said, "Brother, he—he hit me with the talisman. I want revenge; you won't stop me, will you?"
I shook my head and replied, "If you want revenge, go ahead; I can't see it."
As Wang's punch hit Liu Bi, I couldn't tell what Wang felt, but I saw him suddenly retract his hand and shake it vigorously as if he had struck iron.
Sister Li noticed that I had drawn my knife and immediately became alert, asking hurriedly, "Master Liu, Master Liu, should we call the police?"
I told her not to bother; this situation couldn't be explained easily—I could handle it.
The three Social Brothers saw Wang's reaction and immediately lost their resolve. To them, this was the power of a ghost; they simply couldn't land a hit.
Although Wang didn't understand what was happening, he realized that the situation was out of control. He shouted at the three Social Brothers, "I'll hold this ghost off; you guys take down that Liu guy! As long as he's down...”
Just as I agreed to let Liu Bi seek revenge, he turned around with a bright smile directed at Wang. Before Wang could finish his sentence, Liu Bi accelerated and slammed his own Soul into Wang. Wang trembled violently as if he were having a seizure.
The three men seemed to grasp Wang's intent; one of them wasted no time grabbing a plastic stool and hurled it at me. It was a small stool likely used by Mr. Huang's daughter.
I instinctively raised my hand to block it; while I managed to deflect the stool, my dagger slipped from my grip upon impact and fell from my hand, causing pain in my palm. Shaking my hand lightly, I softly recited an incantation to draw Mr. Huang's soul back into the Oiled Paper Umbrella.
Seeing my dagger fall from my grasp, they prepared to charge at me. But at that moment, Wang unexpectedly rushed in front of them to block their path without saying a word and slapped the person at the front across the face.
With a crisp sound, I winced at the sharp slap. In an instant, I realized what had happened: Liu Bi had possessed Master Wang and was controlling his body to deliver a merciless blow to that Social Brother.
Understanding the situation didn’t mean everyone else did, especially the young man who had just been struck by his own ally. He covered his mouth, which was stained with a hint of blood, and looked at Master Wang with a face full of grievance. "Brother Wang, why did you hit me?"
Liu Bi didn’t respond; he only chuckled mischievously and raised his hand again, preparing to slap him once more. The young man hurriedly stepped back, fear evident on his face as he looked at Master Wang.
I laughed heartily and said, "Your Brother Wang attempted to fight a ghost and has now been possessed by one. Want to give it a try?" They shuddered in unison and turned to where Mr. Huang had just stood, only to find the spot empty—Mr. Huang had vanished. To them, it seemed as if Mr. Huang had taken over their Brother Wang. Realizing this, their fear intensified, and they huddled back into the corner.
Liu Bi was truly wicked; after I informed them that their Brother Wang had been possessed, he grinned again and walked toward the coffee table by the sofa.
I watched in confusion, unsure of what he intended to do. But the next scene nearly made me burst out laughing. Liu Bi controlled Master Wang's body to approach the coffee table, placing both hands on its edges as if preparing to lift it.
My heart raced; I feared he would use the table to smash them. The table was made of glass, with two thick layers on top and bottom—if he really lifted it and hurled it at them in the corner, it could be deadly. Just as I was about to intervene and stop him from using the table as a weapon, Liu Bi did not lift it; instead, he suddenly tilted his head and slammed it down onto the table.
With a loud crash, Liu Bi controlled Master Wang's body to bang his head hard against the coffee table. Everyone present was left dumbfounded; such an act was beyond even a fool’s imagination, yet Liu Bi managed to pull it off.
Liu Bi lifted his head with a silly grin and rubbed his forehead. Then he lowered his hand to inspect it before shaking his head in disappointment and sighing, "Why isn’t there any blood?" After saying this, he glanced at a vase sitting on the TV cabinet. Chuckling to himself, he walked over and said, "This one’s good; this one’s good."
I couldn't believe it—Liu Bi was planning to smash his head with the vase just to draw some blood. I quickly interjected, "That's enough! Just go get that doctor's bag!"
Liu Bi paused for a moment without looking at me but nodded before heading toward the corner where they were cowering. As he walked slowly, he called out, "Great Doctor, hand over your bag or I might not be so polite." This time his voice wasn’t Master Wang's but his own.
I silently praised him; this made him even more intimidating.
The doctor heard Liu Bi's voice and became even more panicked. Unable to control his fear any longer, he took off his bag and tossed it to Liu Bi. Liu Bi caught it effortlessly and tossed it back without even looking behind him but didn’t move forward again.
I grabbed the bag, unzipped it, and pulled out a large handful of documents without even glancing at them. Turning around, I asked, "Sister Li, would you mind if I burned these agreements?"
Sister Li nodded frantically and said, "I don't mind at all, Master Liu, thank you. Please hurry and burn it."
I agreed and began to burn the document at a leisurely pace. In the corner, three of the four people were silent, staring at Master Wang, who was possessed by Liu Bi. Only the doctor watched my actions with resentment, saying, "You maliciously tore up the contract. I will sue you in court."
I ignored him and continued to burn the document. Suddenly, I heard a loud crack, followed by Liu Bi's voice saying, "What are you saying? You want to sue him? Otherwise, you'll be suing me too."
I turned to look at the doctor, who was covering his face with a look of grievance and fell silent. It seemed that Liu Bi had just slapped him again. I felt a sense of satisfaction; he deserved it—people like him needed to be dealt with.
After the agreement was nearly burned, I was about to tell Sister Li that they could no longer threaten her when I felt a chill breeze sweep past me, quickly blowing toward Liu Bi. My heart sank as I realized something was wrong, and I hurriedly took out a small compass to check. Before I could determine what the chill meant, an angry voice came from the doorway: "How dare you control a ghost to harm others? Are you tired of living?"
I looked toward the voice and saw an elderly man in his fifties standing at the door, glaring at me with fury.
It was clear that the chill had come from this old man. I ignored him and continued to focus on the compass. Once I understood what was happening, my heart dropped—what had just passed by was actually a Five Spirit.
I had an early engagement at six o'clock tonight that would take me quite far; I needed to leave now. Thank you to "szruoer," "Tie Someone," and "qq150819100136" for their diamonds.
