Although Chen Ying had a cheerful personality and a clear mind, her appetite was quite poor. I ordered a large table full of various dishes, but she only picked at them a little. 0

It wasn't until we were almost done eating that I began to explain the situation to her. She listened intently, occasionally asking me for specific details. After I finished, she didn’t seem too affected by what her father had done; instead, she praised my cleverness, even though I had gotten her father into trouble. 0

I earnestly urged her to see the main point of the matter. She simply chuckled and said, "I know, the main point is that my dad wants to use Zhang Zhen's soul to control my body, right? I don’t care; it’s just a shell. He can take it." 0

I was at a loss for words. "But don’t you realize that the chances of success are very low? If it fails, not only will your father face severe punishment, but Zhang Zhen will also be finished—there won’t even be a chance for reincarnation." 0

"I’m not worried about my dad; he has done many bad things and this one doesn’t make much difference. But what do you mean Zhang Zhen won’t have a chance for reincarnation?" 0

I patiently explained the reasons again and told her that even if her father succeeded, Zhang Zhen would still be in danger. "Do you really think what your dad is doing is appropriate? Why would you want your body to be used by someone unrelated to you?" 0

Hearing this, Chen Ying furrowed her brows. It seemed she had been listening to my story without grasping the key points. 0

After thinking for a moment, she said, "If that’s the case, then he definitely shouldn’t do this. My body doesn’t matter; it was given to me by him in the first place. If he wants to take it, fine, it’s no big deal. But harming another person for no reason—I really can’t accept that." 0

I sighed in relief and took a sip of tea before continuing, "So, I hope you can cooperate with us to help rescue Zhang Zhen's soul. If I can send it away, your father will have no way to proceed; suitable souls aren’t easy to find." 0

Chen Ying nodded thoughtfully and said, "Okay. Can I see Zhang Zhen's soul?" 0

"Why do you want to see her?" I asked in confusion. 0

"Hehe, nothing much. I just want to see what a person looks like after they die and become a ghost. Will it be scary? Because I don’t have much time left; soon I'll become a ghost myself." She said this with a smile, but her eyes glistened with unshed tears. 0

I replied softly, "Haven't you ever seen a ghost? Zhang Zhen's soul is still with your dad, but I can let you see another ghost." I thought about letting her meet Liu Bi. After becoming a Spirit God, Liu Bi hadn’t changed much—thanks to the Soul-keeping Umbrella—its soul was robust enough that it could blend in with people at night. Letting Chen Ying meet Liu Bi might help alleviate her fear of death. 0

"I've never been allowed to see ghosts by my dad. He says that if I do, it will affect my fortune. If you can let me see a ghost before I die, it would fulfill a wish of mine. I know there are ghosts in this world, and I've always wanted to see one, but I just can't." Chen Ying said happily, her joy genuine and unfeigned. 0

"Alright, I'll take you to see one. Then we can discuss how to save Zhang Zhen's soul." 0

"Are we going to your house?" Chen Ying asked eagerly as she picked up her belongings. 0

"Yes, to my house. You wait for me at the door." I stood up and walked towards the counter. 0

... 0

As we entered the house, Chen Ying said, "If this were in the past, I would never have dared to eat alone with a stranger, let alone go to a stranger's home. My dad told me that the world is full of darkness and that there are deceitful people everywhere." 0

"That's because your dad lives in that kind of environment. You know, a good environment can lead bad people to do good things, while a bad environment can make good people do bad things. A person's surroundings determine their mindset and view of the world. Your dad says that because his environment truly is as he describes." As I changed my shoes, I took on the role of a wise elder. 0

Chen Ying boldly kicked off her shoes and entered the living room without even putting on slippers, walking around in her pure white ankle socks while saying, "You sound like a philosopher with all your grand theories. Where's that ghost you mentioned? Show me quickly." As she spoke, she headed toward the inner rooms. 0

By the time I finished changing my shoes and reached the hallway, she had opened all three doors of the rooms inside, including the bathroom. 0

"Where's the ghost? Ghost brother, come out quickly!" she shouted as she searched around like a madwoman. 0

Sighing, I walked into the study next to the master bedroom and said, "Come in here; it's over this way." 0

She hurried in and looked around, saying, "Where is it? You’re not just fooling me, are you?" 0

I turned on the lights in the study, closed the door behind us, and turned off the exhaust fan above. Chen Ying looked at me with confusion and asked, "You're not a bad person, right?" 0

I chuckled sinisterly and lit a red candle on the table. She pretended to be scared and stepped back, almost stepping on Liu Bi's Oiled Paper Umbrella. 0

I quickly said, "Don't step back! Don't step on that umbrella; its owner will hit you." 0

She glanced back, squatted down, and picked up the Oiled Paper Umbrella, waving it as she said, "You mean this is the umbrella my dad wanted? The one whose owner you want me to meet?" 0

I nodded and walked over, flicking the umbrella a couple of times before loudly calling out, "Liu Bi, come out and take customers!" My voice boomed, startling Chen Ying so much that she dropped the umbrella on the ground. 0

I laughed heartily. Seeing Chen Ying's expression of mischief, she raised her fist as if to hit me. Before her fist could land, Liu Bi's voice came from behind her: "What are you two doing? Who broke my umbrella?" 0

As soon as Liu Bi finished speaking, Chen Ying abruptly halted her fist, her eyes darting around. After a second of hesitation, she exclaimed, "Oh crap!" and quickly circled around me to hide behind my back. Indeed, every girl has a tough side; that exclamation completely changed my perception of Chen Ying. Perhaps this was her true self. 0

"Bro, who is this girl? Did she break my umbrella?" Liu Bi asked, looking at Chen Ying with an unhappy expression. 0

I grinned mischievously and said, "Yeah, it's her. Go ahead and hit her." 0

Chen Ying peeked out from behind me at Liu Bi and stammered, "Brother Ghost, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to; I was scared by your brother. Please don't hit me." 0

Liu Bi took a couple of steps forward with a fierce grin and said, "If you weren't my brother's girlfriend, I'd definitely beat you up." 0

I chuckled and raised my hand to block Liu Bi. "Hey now, she's Master Chen's daughter; she's here to help us." 0

"Oh wow! I didn't expect that old man’s daughter would turn out to be so pretty," Liu Bi said with a grin, his previous fierceness fading away as he looked like a cheeky rogue. 0

"Are you saying you're good-looking? Idiot," Chen Ying retorted as she stepped out from behind me, clearly having recovered and standing up to Liu Bi. 0

I must say, her adaptability is the strongest I've seen among all normal people. To see a ghost react so quickly and even make jokes is quite impressive. But then again, she already knew that ghosts existed in this world, and now that she has one foot in the realm of the dead, she views everything with a certain detachment. 0

I said, "Alright, enough of the antics. Chen Ying, you've seen the ghost; shouldn't we discuss how to rescue Zhang Zhen's soul?" 0

"Is she here specifically to see me?" Liu Bi asked, puzzled. 0

Chen Ying quickly chimed in, "I came to see a ghost, but look at you! You don't look like a ghost at all; you're not scary in the slightest. It's quite disappointing." 0

Upon hearing this, Liu Bi laughed instead of getting angry. "That's because I'm handsome and charming. Who says ghosts have to look frightening?" 0

"Sigh, you're really embarrassing for those of us who are ghosts," Chen Ying continued with increasing enthusiasm. I wondered where she learned such banter—perhaps it was because Liu Bi was naturally lacking in something. 0

Liu Bi chuckled heartily and replied, "If you want to see a normal ghost, that's easy." After saying this, he picked up an umbrella from the ground and imitated my earlier actions, shouting loudly, "Old Zhang, come out and greet your guests!" 0

It's six o'clock; there will be another update later. Please be patient, everyone. 0
