Ishii Ansei's expression changed slightly, disbelief washing over him. Jiang Chen's move was akin to magic, conjuring a long sword out of thin air—truly astonishing.
"What kind of sword is this?" Ishii Ansei asked.
"Yunxiao!" Jiang Chen replied.
"What a fine Sky Sword; it qualifies to battle my Godslayer." Although Ishii Ansei was shocked, a fierce light shone in his eyes. He had devoted his life to the way of the sword and rarely encountered worthy opponents; an exhilarating battle was what he longed for.
Ishii Ansei gripped Godslayer tightly, sunlight reflecting off its blade, casting dazzling rays. The Iai-ryu sword style was immensely powerful in close combat; any strike could spell death for an opponent. With his Inner Energy flowing, Ishii Ansei pushed off the ground like an arrow released from its bow, charging straight at Jiang Chen.
In just three seconds, he closed the hundred-meter distance.
Godslayer slashed down at Jiang Chen diagonally. Jiang Chen swung his sword effortlessly to block it. Ishii Ansei struck again, and Jiang Chen parried once more.
"Clang! Clang! Clang!"
Ishii Ansei continued his relentless assault, the clash of Godslayer and Sky Sword producing sharp metallic sounds. He unleashed dozens of strikes against Jiang Chen; the sword lights danced fiercely with overwhelming momentum. Yet, Jiang Chen stood firm, effortlessly deflecting all attacks with Sky Sword.
Ishii Ansei's expression grew increasingly serious. Suddenly, he took several steps back and began to whirl Godslayer rapidly in the air. Waves of sword energy shot toward Jiang Chen like tangible blades of wind. Holding his sword with one hand, Jiang Chen maneuvered Sky Sword gracefully, dissipating each wave of sword energy into nothingness.
At this moment, everyone who had doubted Jiang Chen—including Tengye Kikuko—was left dumbfounded. Although no victor had yet emerged, it was clear that Jiang Chen was handling Ishii Ansei's attacks with ease while the renowned swordsman appeared somewhat flustered. Each of his aggressive strikes was effortlessly neutralized by Jiang Chen.
Takeda Kyoko's previously confident expression turned heavy. She had once trained under Ishii Ansei and knew that while he wasn't the best swordsman in the Island Nation, he ranked among the top three. In terms of skill, very few could withstand dozens of his strikes. Now it was evident—even to a fool—that Ishii Ansei was at a disadvantage and seemed to be toyed with by Jiang Chen.
This realization was hard for Takeda Kyoko to accept; she couldn't believe that such a young man could make Ishii Ansei struggle so ineffectively in the way of the sword—it was simply unbelievable.
At that moment, Ishii Ansei's heart churned with shock and disbelief.
