Horror Chapter
The White-Collar Man and the Student Sister fell silent at Li Lin's words. As for Jiang Liu, his thoughts aligned with Li Lin's; he remained skeptical about the idea that the mirror was a way out, so he had nothing to add.
Lin Mao'er had always been quiet, speaking very little. Even when Xu Qian's attitude suddenly changed, she showed no significant reaction, leaving Jiang Liu wondering if she had known about this all along.
"What should we do now? We can't just stand by and watch Li Jing get killed by a ghost!" The White-Collar Man seemed to have abandoned the idea of breaking the mirror after hearing Li Lin's reasoning and asked if there were any other options.
"Who says a ghost will definitely kill Li Jing?" Li Lin countered.
"Isn't that the case?" The White-Collar Man was taken aback. Among them, only the Student Sister felt that gaze; shouldn't the ghost be targeting her? This preconceived notion led him to firmly believe that the Student Sister was the next victim.
"Do you remember that during the first incident, only the Student Sister sensed a gaze that none of us felt? Yet in the end, it was Liu the Great who went missing," Li Lin pointed out.
The White-Collar Man fell silent, glancing at the Student Sister, who was looking down, her expression unreadable, leaving him unsure of what she was thinking.
Li Lin continued, "Liu the Great's death is shrouded in too many unknowns. We don't know how he died or what he experienced before his death. That's why I need everyone to stay calm and not lose their composure! Do you understand?"
Seeing that the two remained quiet, Li Lin pressed on: "I know everyone is scared right now, especially Li Jing! But please remember that in situations like this, we need to remain calm. If we make hasty decisions, it could endanger not just ourselves but others as well!"
Li Lin looked at the Student Sister and said, "I know you're frightened right now, but please trust me. I won't abandon anyone. I will do my utmost to help everyone survive this ordeal together!"
"Okay, I understand. I'll try to stay calm," the Student Sister replied quietly, still looking down.
"Good. We have four hours until nightfall," Li Lin said as she glanced at the black clock. "In this time, let's see if we can come up with any solutions!"
The group then resumed discussing where their escape might lie and what to do if the Student Sister encountered a ghost that night.
Before long, night fell, and everyone uneasily returned to their respective rooms.
"Don't be afraid! It's all an illusion, it's all fake! I won't die! As long as I call for help, they will come to save me!"
In Room 107, the Student Sister curled up in the corner of her bedroom, her eyes fixed intently on the mirror covered by a bedsheet. She kept talking, as if in conversation with someone, creating an eerie atmosphere throughout the house.
Suddenly, the lights in the Student Sister's room began to flicker, alternating between bright and dark, instilling fear in her heart. Yet, the usually brave Student Sister seemed oblivious to this strange scene, continuing her murmurs without a care for her surroundings.
During the flickering of the lights, the bedsheet that hung flat against the mirror suddenly began to bulge, as if something was trying to emerge from within the mirror but was obstructed by the sheet.
Gradually, more and more areas of the sheet swelled up, and it vaguely resembled a person! A grotesquely twisted and fierce face emerged on the sheet, its expression contorting as if it were enduring some severe pain.
Then a splash of bright red appeared on the white bedsheet, quickly spreading and staining it entirely red as it writhed wildly in the quiet room.
At that moment, the Student Sister had buried her head deep between her legs, her body trembling uncontrollably. Rationality told her that she was in grave danger and needed to escape immediately, but her body refused to move. The words of Li Lin from earlier that afternoon echoed in her mind.
"Although I can't be sure if you're the next target of a ghost, remember this: no matter what you see, as long as it doesn't pose a life-threatening situation for you, act like you didn't see it! Calmly observe your surroundings, understand?"
"Why?"
"It won't let us carry out a mission that is certain death. During the time when a ghost is scaring you, there will definitely be hints for survival. If you encounter such a situation and want to live, you must calmly observe the hints it provides..."
Time returned to the present.
When the Student Sister lifted her head to look again, the bloodstained bedsheet had turned back to white, as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion!
She let out a sigh of relief, thinking that Li Lin hadn't lied to her; it was all just a figment of her imagination! Now she needed to find a way out and survive through this night!
Taking a deep breath, the Student Sister suppressed her panic and slowly dragged her trembling feet toward the enormous mirror.
Standing before the mirror covered by the white bedsheet, she reached out with trembling hands to grasp one corner of the sheet. She didn't know why she felt compelled to do this; there was just a voice inside her urging her to pull down that sheet. Only by doing so would she uncover everything!
With a gentle tug, the bedsheet slid off the mirror.
There was no blood, nor was there a ghostly woman bursting from the mirror to drag her in; it was just her, standing alone in front of the mirror.
Student Sister finally relaxed completely, loosening the bed sheet and turning away from the mirror.
Although nothing supernatural occurred in the mirror, she still felt some resistance towards it. Perhaps the events she experienced in the bathroom that morning had left her with some lingering shadows.
At the moment she turned her body, she sensed something was off; it seemed like her reflection in the mirror hadn’t moved!
Turning back, she stared intently at her reflection, trying to discern something unusual. After watching for a long time without noticing anything, she slowly began to turn away while keeping her eyes fixed on herself in the mirror.
Even as she stepped away from the mirror, she found nothing amiss. So, she prepared to follow Bai Li Lin's method and started searching her room to see if anything had changed.
What she didn’t see was that as soon as her gaze left the mirror, her reflection reappeared in place! A strange smile crept across its face, as if another version of her stood before the mirror, gazing into another world.
Meanwhile, in Room 101, Li Lin stood before a large mirror, looking at her harmless appearance and couldn’t help but smile wryly:
“…When did I become what I used to despise the most?”
“Don’t blame me, Li Jing! I just want to survive…”
