Upon hearing the old man speak, Jiang Liu felt certain that this supernatural incident was connected to the deaths he mentioned. However, since the old man had not finished his story, he suppressed his questions and continued to listen. 0

"At first, I thought this matter had passed, but unexpectedly, strange occurrences began happening at the school every year," the old man said. 0

He suddenly paused at this point. Wang Chao, noticing that the old man had stopped at a crucial moment, anxiously asked, "Grandpa, what happened next?" 0

The old man pondered for a moment and shook his head. "I don't remember. I can't recall what happened afterward, but I know that every year there are incidents at the school." 0

Wang Chao wanted to ask more but was pulled back by Jiang Liu, who then asked, "Grandpa, think about it—doesn't it seem like every year there are reports of deaths at the school, all related to Classroom 000?" 0

"I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm getting older; my memory isn't what it used to be. I can't recall anything at all." 0

The old man's firm demeanor left both of them feeling uneasy. Just as they were about to ask more questions, the old man said, "It's getting late; you two should head home." 0

Hearing the old man usher them away, Jiang Liu and Wang Chao reluctantly left his wooden hut. 0

On their way back, Wang Chao turned to Jiang Liu and asked, "Do you think the old man's story is connected to our current supernatural incident?" 0

Jiang Liu pinched his nose thoughtfully. "My intuition tells me there's a significant connection between the two, but it doesn't help us with our current situation. I believe what the old man has forgotten might be the key to this incident!" 0

"Yes, I feel that way too," Wang Chao agreed with Jiang Liu. "It's just that the old man isn't willing to share with us." 0

"I don't think it's a matter of unwillingness; I believe he genuinely forgot what happened afterward." At this point, Jiang Liu asked Wang Chao, "Do you remember who was the first person to disappear from our class?" 0

"Are you suggesting that the old man's memory might have been altered by some supernatural force?" 0

"Yes, the possibility is quite high. Our memories as Escapers have all been tampered with, just like everyone else's." 0

"This is going to be difficult," Wang Chao said irritably. 0

"Well, we haven't come away empty-handed. At least we've found a direction for this incident. If worse comes to worst, we can come back here tomorrow and ask again," Jiang Liu reassured him. 0

"At this point, that's all we can do. I just don't know what tomorrow will bring. One person has already jumped from a building for no apparent reason today, and I'm afraid there might be more deaths tomorrow." 0

Hearing Wang Chao's words, Jiang Liu felt a twinge of sadness. He had originally thought that the supernatural events were only targeting them as Escapers, but he hadn't expected that this time, innocent people would also be caught up in it. This realization frightened him; normal life seemed to drift further away from him. 0

He wanted to say something, but when he opened his mouth, he found himself at a loss for words. Instead, he patted Wang Chao on the shoulder and said, "It's getting late; let's head back." 0

Not long after Jiang Liu and Wang Chao left, a shadow quietly approached the old man's house. 0

Upon hearing a knock at the door, the old man struggled to get out of his Rocking Chair and trembled as he walked toward the door. 0

"Creak." 0

The harsh sound of the door echoed as the old man opened it, only to find no one outside. He was puzzled for a moment but quickly closed the door again. 0

However, at the moment the door shut, his murky eyes caught a glimpse of a familiar figure through the crack. Memories long buried in his heart resurfaced; he recalled what he had forgotten long ago! 0

He stumbled backward a few steps and fell back into his Rocking Chair. Terrified, he stared at the shadow coming through the door crack. Suddenly, the lights in the room flickered, and the old man fixed his gaze on the figure outside. 0

What he didn't notice was that in a dark corner of the room, a girl dressed in an old school uniform stood silently, her bloodshot eyes filled with Malice as she watched the old man's back. Her pale face twisted into a chillingly eerie smile. 0

Suddenly, it seemed that the old man sensed something and whipped around! 0

The lights suddenly went out, plunging the room into darkness. 0

The dilapidated wooden house fell silent once more. 0

In the early morning, Jiang Liu was still lost in his dreams when he was jolted awake by the sound of a ringing phone. His phone vibrated beside him; it was a call from Wang Chao. 0

"Hey, Jiang Liu, something's happened!" 0

As soon as he answered, Wang Chao's anxious voice came through the line. A chill ran down Jiang Liu's spine at the words, and a sense of foreboding washed over him. 0

"What happened?" 0

Jiang Liu initially thought it might be another classmate from their group who had died, but Wang Chao's next words left him utterly stunned. 0

"The old man is dead!" 0

"What! He seemed fine last night! What on earth happened?" 0

"I don't know. I felt something was off this morning, so I got up early to check on him. But when I entered the house, I found his body. The way he died..." 0

Wang Chao trailed off, seemingly at a loss for words. The sleepiness that had enveloped Jiang Liu vanished with this shocking news. He quickly asked Wang Chao, "Where are you now?" 0

"I'm at the old man's place. You need to get here fast." 0

"I'm on my way!" 0

Without another word, Jiang Liu hung up the phone. He didn't even have time to brush his teeth; he hastily threw on some clothes and rushed out of the dormitory. As he made his way to the old man's house, his mind raced with questions about what could have happened, why the old man had died so mysteriously just after they had found a lead. 0

Minutes later, Jiang Liu arrived at the dilapidated wooden cabin and saw Wang Chao pacing back and forth in front of it, looking pale. As soon as Wang Chao spotted Jiang Liu, he rushed over. 0

"What on earth is going on?" 0

Before Wang Chao could respond, Jiang Liu anxiously asked, as there were some things that had been unclear over the phone, prompting him to ask Wang Chao again. 0

Wang Chao explained clearly this time, "Last night, after I returned to the dormitory, I felt that something was off. So I woke up early this morning to check on the old man. But when I got to his door, I knocked for a long time without getting any response. That’s when I started to worry something might have happened. I kicked the door open, and then…" 0

At this point, Wang Chao couldn't continue; it seemed he was at a loss for words to describe what he had seen inside the old man's cabin. 0

"What did you see?" Jiang Liu pressed urgently. 0

"I can't explain it; you should see for yourself." 0

Wang Chao turned away with a grim expression, urging Jiang Liu to go in alone. 0

"But you need to prepare yourself mentally." 0

Hearing this, Jiang Liu took a deep breath and walked toward the cabin. As he approached, a strong, pungent smell hit him like a wave, nearly making him gag. He glanced back at Wang Chao's distressed face before slowly pushing open the wooden door. 0
