Horror Chapter
By the light, Jiang Liu clearly saw the face before him.
It was a face that looked exactly like his own!
Looking at the boy in front of him, Jiang Liu slowly spoke, "So this is what they call the final showdown."
"That's right, this is the final showdown. How do you like the stage I've prepared for you?"
Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu spread his arms wide, surveying the familiar scene as if he were a proud child showcasing his masterpiece.
Jiang Liu shook his head, regretfully saying, "If you truly are another aspect of my personality, you should know that I can't recall anything about this memory. What you've done is somewhat unnecessary."
"Unnecessary for us?" Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu paused for a moment, then burst into laughter, glaring at the other Jiang Liu with gritted teeth.
"You coward who only knows how to escape reality! You definitely wouldn't remember these memories; otherwise, how could I possibly exist?"
Jiang Liu stared at Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu in silence for a while before asking, "What exactly happened in that lost memory?"
"What happened?" Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu's ferocious expression suddenly calmed down as he looked at the other Jiang Liu and smiled eerily. "Do you really want to know?"
"Yes."
"Then see it with your own eyes once more!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the surroundings began to change. The blood flowing on the floor started to reverse, and the White Curtain floated in the air without wind. Everything was returning to some point in the past.
Gradually, things began to settle down, and the blood-red world that had filled Jiang Liu's vision returned to its original colors.
The knocking sound from outside seemed to signal that time was returning to normal.
Strangely, Jiang Liu's body once again became uncontrollable; he couldn't move or even make a sound. He could only watch quietly with his eyes as events unfolded.
After a pause in the knocking, seemingly not hearing any response from inside, a distinctly childish voice rang out from outside the door.
"Mom, I'm back. Please open the door."
Inside the house, there was still no response. Jiang Liu stood there, unable to move due to his physical condition, only able to hear the faint creaking sound coming from the dark bedroom.
For some reason, upon hearing that sound, a wave of fear surged from deep within Jiang Liu. It wasn't despair; it was a kind of fear that he felt he couldn't bear.
The child outside finally couldn't hold back any longer. He turned the doorknob a few times and was surprised to find that the front door of his home wasn't locked. With a gentle twist, he pushed the door open.
At that moment, Jiang Liu caught sight of the child's appearance and froze.
He was not stunned because the child looked frightening; on the contrary, the boy had an innocent face.
Yet from this innocent visage, Jiang Liu sensed something familiar. He had seen this boy before, and not just once. During his growing years, he often flipped through old photographs and would see this face. It felt both familiar and strange to him.
Because this child was unmistakably him at that age.
The boy who walked into the house seemed oblivious to the two Jiang Lius standing before him. He called out loudly into the house, "Dad, Mom, are you home?"
The large room remained silent. The boy didn't think much of it; after casually closing the door behind him, he innocently walked into the living room with his deep blue backpack.
Jiang Liu watched as the boy passed through him and approached the sofa. He pulled out several notebooks from his backpack, seemingly for homework.
The scratching of the pen against paper filled the air with a soft rustling sound. The two Jiang Lius quietly observed as the boy worked on his assignments, creating an unusually warm atmosphere.
Suddenly, a noise came from the bedroom.
The boy paused in his writing upon hearing the sound and looked curiously toward the direction of the bedroom. After thinking for a moment, he called out, "Dad? Mom? Is that you?"
No one answered him. The boy gazed at the closed bedroom door and ultimately couldn't suppress his curiosity any longer. He set down his pen and stood up to walk toward the bedroom.
Gently opening the bedroom door just a crack, he peered inside.
However, it was pitch black in there; he couldn't see anything in the darkness. So he opened the door wider and tiptoed to turn on the bedroom light.
As the lights turned on, the boy felt two dark shapes blocking his view. Instinctively, he took a few steps back, trying to see what these two dark objects were.
Stepping back, the boy finally got a clear look at the dark shapes. They were two human heads, their expressions grotesquely fierce, hanging in the air with pitch-black eyes staring intently at him.
Having never encountered such a horrifying scene before, the boy was frozen in shock, standing there without any reaction.
Jiang Liu, who had been observing the boy's movements, was also startled by the sudden appearance of the two heads in the bedroom doorway. However, after experiencing so much, his mental fortitude had grown significantly; he quickly regained his composure.
Jiang Liu widened his eyes, trying hard to discern the features of the two heads.
Strangely, no matter how Jiang Liu looked, it seemed as if a layer of black mist shrouded the faces of those heads, making it impossible to see their appearance clearly.
The boy stiffly turned his head to look inside the bedroom and noticed two headless corpses lying quietly on the bed, their clothing strikingly familiar.
Before the boy could process this shocking revelation, something even more terrifying occurred.
The two headless corpses on the bed suddenly sat up simultaneously, turning to face the direction where the boy stood, as if they had noticed his intrusion.
At that moment, the two heads hanging in the doorway seemed to come to life. The fierce expressions vanished, replaced by an eerie calmness as their dark eye sockets fixed on the boy.
"Child, my neck hurts so much," said the head on the left with short hair in a pained voice.
"Good son, help Daddy; Mommy will put your head back," said the long-haired head on the right gently.
The boy appeared stunned; he could hardly believe that these once lifeless heads had come to life and were speaking to him. His mind was clearly in a state of shock as he stared blankly at this surreal scene.
Seeing that the boy remained silent, Male Head seemed to grow agitated. Its expression twisted back into a grimace as it shouted angrily at the boy.
"My neck hurts so much! Quickly put Daddy and Mommy's heads back!"
"Quick, put Mom's head back!"
The female head suddenly changed from its earlier gentle tone to a wretched scream.
The shriek pierced through Jiang Liu's eardrums like two thin needles. Jiang Liu gritted his teeth against the pain echoing in his ears, staring wide-eyed at the boy.
The boy was crouched on the ground, clutching his ears in agony, rolling around as he tried to dispel the continuous screams that invaded his mind.
Seeing the boy's suffering, the two hanging heads appeared particularly pleased.
"You ungrateful wretch! You see your father and mother in such pain and don't come to help? Go die!" the Male Head exclaimed excitedly.
"Go die!" the Female Head echoed from the side.
At that moment, the two headless corpses sitting on the bed also got up and slowly approached the boy who was rolling on the floor.
Unable to bear the torment any longer, the boy slammed his head against the doorframe and lost consciousness.
As he fainted, the entire world shattered like a broken mirror, splintering into pieces.
