My Tenant is a Female Ghost
Darkness enveloped everything, an endless black that felt like a dream, yet the cold wind around me was all too real.
Suddenly, a glimmer of light appeared ahead. Bai Zhuo followed that light and, before he knew it, reached the end. It turned out that the light was coming from a lantern floating in mid-air, its flame a ghostly blue, quite eerie.
Behind the lantern stood a half-open "great door," on which was painted the portrait of a person Bai Zhuo did not recognize.
This was indeed a tall and massive door! No matter how he looked up or sideways, it seemed boundless, and he couldn't even tell where the doorknob was.
He passed through the half-open giant door. Inside, the colors were dim, revealing a desolate path that looked very forlorn. If Bai Zhuo had better eyesight and turned back, he would see three words inscribed above that giant door—Ghost Gate!
Bai Zhuo wandered aimlessly forward when suddenly a figure appeared before him.
"Benefactor, why are you here?"
"Eh? It's you? You are called..."
"The girl is He Yuan. How could the benefactor be here?"
Bai Zhuo asked curiously, "Here? Where is this place?"
"This is Yellow Springs Road. Look, benefactor, just ahead is the Bridge of Helplessness," He Yuan pointed to the misty arch bridge not far away and continued, "How did you come down to the Underworld? Is there something you need?"
Bai Zhuo glanced at his hands and said, "Am I dead? How could I be dead?"
He Yuan smiled slightly and said, "Life and death are fated, benefactor. Come with me to the Underworld to be reborn. In our next life, shall we be a pair of living mandarin ducks?"
Bai Zhuo hurriedly shook his head. "No, no, no! I don't want to be reborn; I want to go back! I want to go back!"
He Yuan's expression darkened. "Benefactor, do you despise this girl for being a withered flower?"
Bai Zhuo shook his head again. "No, no! That's not what I mean!" He Yuan then asked, "Do you despise this girl for being of humble origins?" Bai Zhuo still shook his head in response. "No, no! Miss He Yuan, you are quite beautiful. It's just... it's just that my matters in the Underworld are not resolved yet; I don't want to leave..."
Upon hearing this, He Yuan's face transformed from one of lingering charm into a bloodied skull mask as she growled fiercely, "You don’t want to die but dare to come down here! Get back!"
Bai Zhuo was startled by the terrifying face of the female ghost. With her loud scream, he felt his body lighten, and a strong pulling force swept over him, causing his figure to vanish in the blink of an eye.

Miao Xiaoqi was still trapped within the Five Elements Barrier, and Ge Shui Lian had no idea what was happening inside. However, she dared not relax for a moment. Her right hand pressed firmly on the inner plate to prevent it from moving. Her face began to pale, blood continuously flowing from her fingers along the Curse Seal into the entire Five Elements Plate. The bright red blood covered the character for "Water" in the Five Elements Plate and had already filled half of the character for "Wood"!
Ge Shui Lian's right hand twisted irregularly, and the flesh on her arm started to wrinkle as if it would break at any moment! In pain, she couldn't help but let out a groan, cold sweat pouring down her forehead, yet she gritted her teeth and held on. "Miao Xiaoqi, if you don't come out soon, I won't be able to hold on!"

"Hiss—" Bai Zhuo, lying not far away, took a deep breath and suddenly coughed up large amounts of congealed blood. Ouyang Shirei cried tears of joy and hugged Bai Zhuo tightly. "Bai, Bai, you finally woke up! You scared me to death! Boohoo..."
Bai Zhuo, still shaken, patted Ouyang Shirei's delicate shoulder. "Sister Shirei, don't cry, don't cry. I'm back!"
Ouyang Shirei nodded vigorously through her tears, forcing a smile that looked painful. Bai Zhuo couldn't help but reach out with his right hand to poke her nose playfully. "Little Flower Cat!" This made Ouyang Shirei blush deeply.
Bai Zhuo spat out a mouthful of blood and took out a piece of jade from his pocket. The jade was still cool to the touch, resting in Bai Zhuo's palm. Its originally vibrant green color gradually faded and turned white, losing its luster until it finally disintegrated into powder and vanished into thin air.
Watching this miraculous scene unfold, Bai Zhuo sighed. "I saved you; that's good karma; you saved me; that's good fortune! Thank you, He Yuan; I will remember you!"
Suddenly, Ge Shui Lian, kneeling on the ground, could no longer contain her pain and let out a cry. Her arm had lost all sensation; she felt it was about to break!
Bai Zhuo quickly pushed Ouyang Shirei aside and rushed over. "Shui Lian! What happened to you?"
Ge Shui Lian turned around and was pleasantly surprised to see that Bai Zhuo was alive. "You’re not dead!" she exclaimed joyfully. However, her grip loosened at that moment, causing the inner plate to spin rapidly. The pain forced her to finally let go; her arm fell limply onto her shoulder as if it were dislocated.
As Ge Shui Lian released her grip, the inner plate of the Five Elements Plate began spinning faster with a clicking sound. The blood from the Curse Seal completely covered the character for "Wood," starting to flow toward the character for "Metal." In less than a minute, it had covered the character for "Metal."
With two sudden sounds of "crack," Miao Xiaoqi and the Ghost Fetus appeared out of nowhere in mid-air before crashing down to the ground. Miao Xiaoqi looked somewhat disheveled but was unharmed; perched atop her head was a small Rainbow Silkworm about the size of a finger, soft and adorably noticeable.
Golden Cicada Gu? Shouldn't it be golden? Why is it rainbow-colored?
Bai Zhuo felt puzzled but knew this wasn't the time to dwell on such things! Because the Ghost Fetus appeared exceptionally furious! Its head faced Bai Zhuo and the others while its body turned away from them, looking incredibly terrifying!
Fortunately, the Ghost Fetus seemed to have suffered severe injuries within the Five Elements Barrier. Its left hand was missing, and nine-tenths of its remaining arm had turned into rotting flesh! Its tattered clothing revealed deep and long holes in its young body, with blood occasionally oozing out, creating a sight that was both disgusting and terrifying, making everyone's hair stand on end!
Moreover, half of its face was a skull, while the other half was a bloody mess, with its white jawbone clearly visible in the air! This sight caused the children to wail uncontrollably!
The Miaojiang Gu Technique was truly horrifying!
Miao Xiaoqi stood up and, upon seeing Bai Zhuo's figure, rushed over in delight!
"Brother Bai! You're not dead!"
Bai Zhuo embraced the delicate Miao Xiaoqi, feeling her genuine joy, which made him smile happily as well. He intended to pat her head but quickly withdrew his hand when he noticed the Rainbow Silkworm perched on her head, startling him.
He patted Miao Xiaoqi's shoulder and said, "With you being so clever and adorable, how could I bear to die?" The blossoming young girl felt her face flush at his words, turning a bright shade of pink even on her neck, unsure of how to respond to her Brother Bai.
Ge Shui Lian watched Bai Zhuo and Miao Xiaoqi being so affectionate and felt a pang of jealousy in her heart. Unable to help herself, she snapped, "Hey! Bai! Can't you see the timing isn't right for romance? If you let the tiger return to the mountain this time, you might not be so lucky next time!"
Bai Zhuo positioned Miao Xiaoqi behind him and smiled confidently at Ge Shui Lian. "You and Qiqi did great. Now, leave the rest to me!"
