Despite the interference from others, Bai Zhuo still felt a pang of guilt regarding Cao Xin's situation. His good intentions had led to bad outcomes, and if Cao Xin harmed anyone, consuming their soul, she would be on an irreversible path, making it difficult for her to find peace. Perhaps only Master Yongdu, the mentor of Hengyuan Monk, could help her achieve that. 0

If possible, Bai Zhuo was willing to try to help Cao Xin again. Therefore, what concerned him most at the moment was that Peng Lulu seemed to know someone named Cao Xin. 0

“Peng Lulu, you looked surprised when you heard ‘Cao Xin.’ Do you know this person?” 0

Peng Lulu pondered for a moment and replied, “I’m not sure if it’s the same Cao Xin. My sister has a friend named Cao Yu, and she seems to have a younger brother who passed away named Cao Xin.” 0

“Did they used to live in Liangye Villa Area?” 0

Peng Lulu shook her head. “I’m not sure about that. But I do know they are quite wealthy. Her sister, Cao Yu, seems to be the president of a pharmaceutical group and holds most of the shares along with her brother.” 0

This Cao Yu could very well be a relative of Cao Xin! Bai Zhuo asked, “Oh? Do you know where they live?” 0

“I’m not really sure. This woman is very aloof; my sister only knows her casually and doesn’t know where she lives. However…” 0

“However what?” 0

“Well, although I don’t know where she lives, I do know that she has a mother who often goes to a certain place. You might be able to find her there.” 0

“Her mother? Where is this place?” 0

“It’s Ning University. Ever since her son passed away, she has become quite unhinged and has been looking for him at the entrance of Ning University…” 0

Upon hearing this, Bai Zhuo exclaimed in surprise, “Is it that Crazy Woman? So that’s how it is!” 0

“Uh… Mr. Bai, do you know her?” 0

Bai Zhuo recalled the Crazy Woman who mistook him for her son. Suddenly everything clicked into place; having spent two months with Cao Xin, it made sense that the grieving mother could sense Cao Xin’s lingering spirit and mistook him for her son! 0

After obtaining this crucial information, Bai Zhuo bid farewell to Nie Qian and the others. The only thing left on his mind was Zheng Ming—where had he gone? Even Zhu Cong had disappeared. Zheng Ming’s Five Elements Plate was incredibly valuable; there was no reason he would abandon such an opportunity. But now it was already past one in the morning—an hour late for their agreed meeting time—he must have run into some troublesome situation. 0

“Sigh, I’m always too soft-hearted. We’re still Senior Brothers after all; I should look for him,” Bai Zhuo said as he took out his phone to call Zheng Ming. The call went through, but no one answered. After searching for over half an hour without any leads on his whereabouts, just as he was about to give up and head home, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw it was indeed Zheng Ming calling! 0

“Hello? Where have you been? Are you giving up on the Five Elements Plate?” However, on the other end of the line came Zheng Ming’s frantic voice: “Bai! Come to Ningze Road and help me!” 0

"What? Hello? Damn, it's disconnected." Bai Zhuo cursed as he slung his backpack over his shoulder and rushed towards Zheng Ming's location. 0

On Ningze Road, Zheng Ming was half-kneeling on the ground. Beside him lay a heavy Sophora Wood Coffin that had toppled over, and a figure was sprawled on the ground. The talismans and Peach Wood Sword from inside the coffin were scattered everywhere. His hands were mangled, covered in blood and knife wounds, but the most serious injury was the charred flesh on his back, emitting a foul odor. The dignified Yin Coffin from Ningcheng was in such a pitiful state that it was hard to believe. 0

A swirl of grayish-white mist flashed above Zheng Ming's head. Sensing something, he quickly pressed a talisman to the ground and rolled away to evade the mist's attack. 0

"Earthly Extremes, Cosmic Borrowing Method... Divine Fire Unquenchable, Thunder Unceasing... Divine Fire Thunder, Borrowing Method Supreme, Urgent Command!" Zheng Ming formed several Hand Seals swiftly and skillfully. 0

Boom! A thunderous sound erupted as talismanic flames ignited on the ground, enveloping the grayish-white mist. Then, a flash of purple lightning illuminated the silent night, striking down upon the mist—this was indeed a double Curse Seal! 0

However, despite being hit by the talisman fire and lightning, the grayish-white mist seemed unaffected. It paused for a few seconds before resuming its movement! 0

Wiping the blood from his mouth, Zheng Ming muttered to himself, "Damn it, truly worthy of being from the Underworld; this is terrifying... Is this really the end?" 0

The grayish-white mist responded to Zheng Ming's provocation, transforming into a long spear that shot through the air towards him! 0

A deep sense of despair washed over Zheng Ming as he realized he was at his wit's end; with this thunderous strike, he would surely die! 0

"Cosmic Unity, Dao Follows Nature, Word Spirit secret technique—Bind!" 0

The massive spear seemed to plunge into water as it momentarily slowed down due to the Word Spirit technique but did not completely halt its advance. However, that was enough for Zheng Ming! 0

Zheng Ming shouted, "Bai, now's your chance!" Taking advantage of the moment, he dodged the spear and threw out a pink mid-level talisman. "Earthly Extremes, Cosmic Borrowing Method... Supreme Purity of Tai Chi, borrowing its power to extinguish its spirit! Thunder God assist me—Thunder Break!" 0

"Rumble..." Above the grayish-white mist gathered a mass of dark clouds that rumbled with thunder and flashed with lightning—a veritable storm cloud! After the thunder roared, a purple-golden bolt of lightning struck down like an arm towards the mist. The mist let out a shriek upon receiving this blow and fell to the ground, revealing its true form. 0

The ghost was tall and thin, dressed in white mourning attire with a long scarlet tongue lolling from its mouth. Its eyes rolled back in its head while a high white hat seemed glued to its head without falling off. The front of the hat bore four large black characters: "You Have Come Too," while the back read "A Chance Encounter Brings Wealth," unmistakably identifying it as White Wuchang from the Underworld! 0

"Who dares to interfere with White Wuchang's duties in the Underworld? Leave at once or face eighteen layers of hell!" The words did not move from White Wuchang's mouth; instead, a sharp voice echoed in Bai Zhuo's and Zheng Ming's ears like nails scraping across iron—sending chills down their spines. 0

"Damn! It's actually White Wuchang among Black Wuchang? Zheng Ming, what kind of trouble have you gotten into for Yama's lieutenant to come personally for you?" Bai Zhuo instinctively took a few steps back upon hearing White Wuchang’s name, feeling a sense of dread. 0

Zheng Ming glanced towards a nearby spot on the road where a comatose woman in ancient attire lay on the ground. Gritting his teeth, he said, "It's not here for me; it's here for her!" 0

Bai Zhuo followed Zheng Ming's finger and gasped, "Lin... Lin Yao Yao?" 0

Zheng Ming asked in surprise, "What? You know her? No, wait. Her last name is Lin, but I know she isn't called Lin Yao Yao." 0

However, White Wuchang was not patient enough to let the two reminisce. He conjured two heavy shackles and hurled them at them. The shackles whistled through the air, and Bai Zhuo's heart sank. This White Wuchang was indeed different from ordinary Yin Chai; he was far more formidable than the likes of Ox-Head and Horse-Face! The shackles split apart, resembling giant pincers aiming to trap both Bai Zhuo and Zheng Ming. 0

Bai Zhuo could not let that happen. He threw a Thunder Emperor Talisman at the shackles, but the lightning, as thick as a thumb, struck the shackles without effect. The shackles flew straight toward Bai Zhuo, who was shocked and hurriedly pulled out a black talisman, chanting incantations as he sent the Black Soul-Restraining Talisman toward the massive shackles. Yet again, it proved useless! Faced with this situation, Bai Zhuo felt a sense of helplessness for the first time. The enormous shackles clanged loudly as they locked around Bai Zhuo's neck, pinning him firmly in place. Zheng Ming, exhausted from dealing with his own shackles, caught a glimpse of Bai Zhuo being subdued and shouted anxiously, "Hey! Bai, are you okay?" 0

Flustered, Bai Zhuo cursed, "Damn it! I came here to save you, and instead of thanking me, you're mocking me? You can forget about the Five Elements Plate!" 0

"What time is it? And you're still thinking about that..." Zheng Ming dodged another attack from the shackles when suddenly he remembered something. "Wait... the Five Elements Plate? Hurry up and give it to me!" 0

"It's in my backpack, but... I can't move!" Bai Zhuo cried out as he saw White Wuchang holding a long chain hook in his hand, grinning with a blood-red tongue sticking out at him. It was hard to tell if he was smug or if that was just his natural appearance. 0

"Hey, Zheng Ming, think of something!" Bai Zhuo said nervously. "Look at him; he wants our lives! Damn it, this is all your fault." 0

"Tsk, you..." Zheng Ming retorted but got distracted. With a clang, the enormous shackles bound him as well. White Wuchang tightened his grip on the chain hook and declared, "A mere mortal dares to interfere with Underworld affairs? They say when there's a path in the Underworld you don't take and no door to hell you still barge into; today, I shall collect your souls and let you experience what eighteen layers of hell truly means!" With that, White Wuchang swung the chain hook; it rang like metal clashing and in an instant reached Zheng Ming. The hook pierced through his body like a shadow; White Wuchang yanked it back and instantly drew Zheng Ming's soul away! 0

Bai Zhuo's eyes were different from others; he saw everything clearly and felt an overwhelming sense of urgency but was powerless to act. 0

"Hehehe, don't worry; it'll be your turn soon!" 0

With Zheng Ming's soul captured without further ado, White Wuchang hurled the soul-catching chain hook toward Bai Zhuo's body. The hook penetrated him, causing an intense wave of dizziness and weakness... His soul nearly left his body as Bai Zhuo involuntarily screamed out loud; memories of that fragmented moment in the café flooded back into his mind. 0

"You bastard!" Bai Zhuo's eyes glimmered with golden light as he entered a trance-like state. This White Wuchang could not withstand Bai Zhuo's gaze; in an instant, the shackles shattered. Zheng Ming's soul escaped back into his body due to its unfinished lifespan drawn by its physical form. 0

"Eh! What just happened?" Zheng Ming looked confusedly at the howling White Wuchang before turning to Bai Zhuo with astonishment. Bai Zhuo pulled out the Five Elements Plate from his backpack and tossed it to Zheng Ming while cursing, "Idiot! Why aren't you running? Are you waiting to die?" 0

After shouting this, Bai Zhuo took off running. Zheng Ming snapped back to reality as he caught the Five Elements Plate and rushed to lift up a nearby coffin. He gathered up scattered talismans from the ground and carried the ancient-dressed woman back into the coffin before hoisting it onto his back and chasing after Bai Zhuo. 0

"Hey! Where are we running to?" 0

"Just run! The Underworld is after us; it's not some evil spirit haunting us. Running into a crowd won't help... We can only head to my place! My home is in the inner city Siheyuan area; it's quite far away. Can you manage carrying such a big coffin with someone inside?" 0

"The inner city? That's so far! But it's not about whether I can handle it; it's whether you can keep up!" Zheng Ming glanced at him before picking up speed and quickly overtaking Bai Zhuo! 0

"Damn, how does Zheng Ming have such great stamina?" Bai Zhuo thought to himself. But then again, it made sense; carrying such a heavy coffin would require incredible strength. With that in mind, he quickened his pace to keep up with Zheng Ming. 0

After running for nearly ten minutes, Bai Zhuo was already out of breath, panting as he followed behind Zheng Ming. "Dude, how do you have so much energy? You're carrying something that weighs hundreds of pounds and still running this fast. Are you even human?" 0

"Heh, I'm just used to it. You better keep up... we still have a ways to go before we reach the inner ring." With that, Zheng Ming continued to sprint ahead, clearly intending to leave Bai Zhuo behind. Bai Zhuo cursed under his breath and resolved that after tonight, he would definitely start working out to avoid being this pathetic again. 0

Half an hour later, Bai Zhuo collapsed in his own yard. Although Zheng Ming was also panting heavily, he at least hadn't fallen over, which showed just how incredible his stamina was. 0

Zheng Ming set down the Sophora Wood Coffin and looked around curiously. "I didn't expect your place to be so spacious. This Siheyuan must be worth quite a bit." 0

"Ha... it's alright, I guess. It could sell for over twenty million, but I can't bear to part with it. My family has lived here for generations; I can't let this courtyard fall into ruin on my watch." 0

Zheng Ming nodded in agreement and took out the Five Elements Plate that Bai Zhuo had thrown to him earlier. "I didn't expect you to be such a nostalgic person... this Five Elements Plate was a relic left by my father... thank you." 0

Bai Zhuo sat up and waved his hand dismissively. "Consider it a trade; no need for thanks. This Five Elements Plate was something I won from you anyway. Our relationship isn't close enough for that." 0

Zheng Ming chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Heh, true enough... I just didn't expect that a guy like you, with no sect or background, could earn the master's recognition. I'm really jealous." 0

This guy seemed a bit better than Kagura Keiha, Bai Zhuo thought as he recalled Elder Ge and asked, "I'm curious, what kind of grievances do you have with the master?" (To be continued.) 0
