Kagura Aoi had settled into the Bai Family Courtyard, temporarily "taking over" Yang Liu's room, which still contained some of Yang Liu's and Miao Xiaoqi's personal belongings. After a rain, the air turned cold, and Bai Zhuo wanted nothing more than to stay in bed. However, there was Su Meiniang, the fox spirit, lying beside him.
It wasn't that Bai Zhuo was unwilling to share the bed with Su Meiniang; it was just that after experiencing the pleasures between men and women, he feared he might lose control. Yet if he were to take the initiative, he worried about being humiliated by Su Meiniang. With a yawn and a sigh, he shifted her cool, white thigh off him and got out of bed.
Su Meiniang was becoming increasingly bold. Previously, she would only come to "climb into bed" in the early morning hours. But for some reason lately, after they had both gotten into bed, Su Meiniang would float over in her nightgown to Bai Zhuo's bedside and cuddle up with him to sleep. This left him no opportunity to have an intimate moment with Kagura Aoi. Going to Kagura Aoi's room felt inappropriate; it seemed he would have to endure this situation for a while longer.
Ever since the "theft" of the Map of Mountains and Rivers a few days ago, their home had not been visited by thieves again. It seemed that last time’s plan had been somewhat risky but had proven very effective.
Unfortunately, Bai Zhuo dared not tamper with the fake painting they had swapped out because Elder Ge had passed away. Without Elder Ge’s backing, he feared that if the other party became enraged, they might come after him directly, which would be counterproductive. The urgent matter now was to rescue Kagura Keiha. Reflecting on Kagura Keiha made Bai Zhuo sigh at how fate played its tricks. The first time he met Kagura Keiha, she had been sent by Leng Xuanhe to kill him, creating an unresolvable enmity between them. Later, they were forced to cooperate against a Zombie that was pursuing them; now he found himself needing to save someone who once wanted him dead!
From Tang Bao, he learned that Kagura Keiha's disappearance was likely related to Leng Xuanhe. With this thought in mind, he called Ge Shui Lian.
"Hello, what’s going on?" Ge Shui Lian's tone sounded somewhat dejected; she probably hadn’t yet recovered from her sorrow. Bai Zhuo asked with concern, "Shui Lian, are you okay?"
Ge Shui Lian's heart skipped a beat as she felt a hint of warmth in his words. She chuckled lightly, "I’m fine. Just… missing my grandfather a bit. I wonder how he’s doing down there—has he reincarnated? Has he found a good family?"
"Well, Master was an upright person; even if he stayed in the Underworld, he could find a decent job..."
"Bai Zhuo!" Ge Shui Lian interrupted him.
"Hmm? What is it?"
"What do you think..."
There was silence on the other end for a moment before Bai Zhuo asked, "What do you think?"
"Forget it, it's nothing."
"What do you mean, half a sentence? That's not forgetting. I'm asking for Ning Lan's phone number," Bai Zhuo said.
Ge Shui Lian replied cautiously, "Ning Lan's number? What do you want with Lanlan?"
"I have serious business with her. Where are your thoughts going? Of course, I wouldn't flirt with another woman in front of my fiancée, so don't worry."
Ge Shui Lian's face turned red for once, but unfortunately, Bai Zhuo on the other end of the line couldn't see her flushed cheeks. "Hey, Mr. Bai... I'm still a student. Is this really okay for us?"
Bai Zhuo chuckled, "I know you're a student, but you're already an adult! You can do some things that adults do!"
"Go to hell!" Ge Shui Lian cursed. "Pervert! Just send me Lanlan's phone number via text."
Just as Ge Shui Lian was about to hang up, Bai Zhuo called out, "Lian Lian!"
"What is it?" Ge Shui Lian snapped back.
Bai Zhuo scratched the back of his head and said, "Actually, marrying you wouldn't be unacceptable to me. Your family background is good, and you're beautiful. To be honest, I like you quite a bit. Being a couple with you feels like a blessing from my past life. However, I always feel like there's something missing between us."
"It's love; I know," Ge Shui Lian replied succinctly.
Bai Zhuo paused for a moment and muttered to himself, "It's... love... huh..."
"Yes, it's love. I don't dislike you, but I can't say I like you either. What we lack is love; simply put, there's no spark between us. But the engagement has already been announced in my family."
Bai Zhuo was taken aback. "What? It's already spread? That fast!"
Ge Shui Lian let out a bitter laugh. "Are you unwilling? There's nothing we can do; sometimes you just have to believe in so-called fate." Bai Zhuo fell silent for a moment before bluntly asking, "Would you marry me?"
"I..." Ge Shui Lian hesitated. "I don't know..."
Bai Zhuo felt a headache coming on. He had never been around girls before, and now he found himself entangled in romantic interests—first there was Miao Xiaoqi, then Ge Shui Lian, along with his crush Ouyang Shirei and an unnamed Kagura Aoi. "Actually, I confessed to Sister Shirei indirectly, but it seems she didn't accept me. I could give up on Sister Shirei, but I don't know how to face Miao Xiaoqi later; after all, I promised her I'd wait for two years."
"What about Yang Liu?" Ge Shui Lian asked.
"Yang Liu? Uh, how does she fit into this chaotic mess?"
"Do you think Yang Liu is an easy woman? If she didn't like you, why would she take you to meet her parents?"
Bai Zhuo frowned and thought for a moment, uncertain. "Yang Liu... probably doesn't like me, right? We're just good friends."
Ge Shui Lian exclaimed, "Bai! Have you ever seen pure friendship between a man and a woman? Are you gay? What starts as a close friendship can easily turn into something else!"
"Uh... Lian Lian, don't get worked up. I know you're not fond of Yang Liu. But look, we haven't even gotten married yet; there's no need to get upset!"
Ignoring Bai Zhuo's words, Ge Shui Lian gritted her teeth and decided to reveal what was on her mind. "Bai Zhuo, do you know? My head is all messed up right now. We're about to get engaged, and then Leng Xuanhe confessed to me... I don't know what to do."
"Someone confessed to you? That means you're charming... Wait..." Bai Zhuo thought he misheard and asked, "Who? Who confessed to you?"
"It was Leng Xuanhe, the Cold Young Master. Don't tell me you haven't seen him? The one whose girlfriend you stole," Ge Shui Lian replied. Upon hearing this, Bai Zhuo's heart raced as he quickly asked, "You... you aren't going to accept him, are you?"
"I... I haven't agreed yet."
What kind of person is Leng Xuanhe that Bai Zhuo still doesn't know? Previously, he pretended to be useless, but now he has climbed to the peak of the Yin Yang Realm using schemes and tricks—he's simply unbelievable! Bai Zhuo shouted, "What? You haven't agreed yet? Does that mean you will agree to him later? No way! I don't approve!"
However, Ge Shui Lian suddenly said, "I'm not talking to you anymore; he just called."
"He? Who is it? Leng Xuanhe? Hey, hey? Ge Shui Lian!" Bai Zhuo slammed his fist on the table and cursed, "Damn it!"
The situation was serious. Ge Shui Lian already had a bit of a crush on Leng Xuanhe, and now that her grandfather Elder Ge had just passed away, Leng Xuanhe could take advantage of this vulnerability even more! It seemed that Leng Xuanhe wanted to pursue Ge Shui Lian, and Bai Zhuo estimated that his motives were only twofold. First, he was interested in Ge Shui Lian's First Yin-Yang Eye; even if Ge Shui Lian herself didn't have much soul power or insight, her future offspring would likely be more outstanding than her. Second, Leng Xuanhe purely wanted to take revenge on Bai Zhuo!
But regardless of either reason, Bai Zhuo was extremely unwilling to see it happen!
"Damn it! This silly girl! Doesn't she think that after meeting Leng Xuanhe just a few times, he would actually like her?" Bai Zhuo grabbed the keys from the table, started the Hummer, and slammed the accelerator down. The tires screeched against the ground as the car roared forward.

"Lanlan, the security guard told me to let you know someone is looking for you outside! Oh, it seems they came in your brother's car, but it's not your brother."
In the dormitory, Ning Lan muttered in confusion, "Someone came looking for me in my brother's car? Who could it be?"
Bai Zhuo stood at the school gate anxiously dialing Ge Shui Lian's number, but it kept saying the phone was off. Yang Liu had gone out for an internship and wasn't at the academy. With growing worry in his heart, Bai Zhuo could only ask the security guard for help to see if they could find Ning Lan.
A large Hummer parked at the school gate, and students came and went while casting curious glances at Bai Zhuo—wondering which rich kid had come to Ning University to pick up girls. The world really was going downhill!
After waiting for about ten minutes, Ning Lan walked over from a distance. Upon seeing Bai Zhuo, her eyes lit up as she hopped over like a rabbit and asked, "Bai... Bai Zhuo? What are you doing here looking for me? Oh right, how did you end up driving my brother's car?"
Bai Zhuo clearly remembered the first time he met Ning Lan; she had looked down on him, even if it wasn't very obvious.
Now, however, when she saw Bai Zhuo, she was quite warm and welcoming, a stark contrast to their first encounter. He guessed it was probably because he had saved her life back at Southern High School. He said, "The matter with the car is a long story. I came to find you because of that, but before we get into it, there's something else I need to handle."
"What is it?" Ning Lan asked.
"You and Ge Shui Lian are close, right? I tried calling her over a dozen times but couldn't get through; it says her phone is off. I have something urgent to discuss with her. Can you help me out?"
A hint of disappointment flashed in Ning Lan's eyes. "Oh, fine. Let me check..." She took out her phone and looked at it. "Today is Wednesday; Lian Lian has four classes in the afternoon, so she’s probably in class right now. Let's go; the teaching building is quite far. We'll drive in, and I'll take you to find her."
Bai Zhuo was worried that Ge Shui Lian might make some foolish decision and didn't notice Ning Lan's mood. "Great! Lanlan, thanks for your help. Once I sort this out, we can talk about the car."
Ning Lan exchanged a few words with the security guard, registered, and then let Bai Zhuo through. Ning University was indeed large; it took nearly five minutes just to drive from the entrance to the teaching building. If they had walked, who knows how long it would have taken.
"Let’s go; Lian Lian is in a lecture hall on the sixth floor. It seems like it's a public class with all the junior English majors attending," Ning Lan said as they walked. When they reached the door of the lecture hall on the sixth floor, it was slightly ajar. Ning Lan pushed it open a bit and peeked inside but quickly pulled back her head. "It's Department Head's class; I think we should wait until she's done."
Bai Zhuo just wanted to know if Ge Shui Lian was inside and asked, "Did you see Ge Shui Lian in there?"
"Um... let me check..." Ning Lan leaned in again to look inside the classroom but found it hard to spot anyone among the crowd. "It's tough to find her; there are too many people—thousands!"
Bai Zhuo gently pushed Ning Lan aside. "Let me take a look."
Ning Lan stepped aside, and Bai Zhuo leaned in for a better view. The lecture hall was packed with thousands of students! Back in high school, having a few hundred students in one grade felt like a lot. He couldn't help but exclaim, "What the hell! Why are there so many people?"
Indeed, there were many students in the lecture hall, but Bai Zhuo seemed to have a connection with Ge Shui Lian; after scanning the crowd just once, his gaze locked onto hers in the middle of the room!
However, at that moment, the Department Head noticed the unusual scene at the door. Turning around, he furrowed his brows upon seeing Bai Zhuo's "sleazy" face and angrily asked, "Student! You are already twenty minutes late!"
Seeing that the teacher had noticed him, Bai Zhuo simply pushed the door open and walked in, apologizing to the Department Head, "I'm sorry, teacher. I won't be late next time." Then, under the gaze of thousands of students, he walked toward Ge Shui Lian.
Students who could attend Ning University were either top scholars or from prominent families. Judging by his appearance, it seemed Bai Zhuo belonged to the latter category. The Department Head merely advised him to pay attention next time and did not reprimand him further, allowing Bai Zhuo to enter.
When Ge Shui Lian saw that the person was Bai Zhuo, her heart inexplicably raced.
Bai Zhuo paused for a moment beside Ge Shui Lian and said, "I'll settle this with you later!" Upon hearing this, Ge Shui Lian involuntarily shrank back.
With a gentle smile, Bai Zhuo placed the car keys on the table and addressed the boy next to Ge Shui Lian, "Friend, could you please let me sit? She is my fiancée!"
Fiancée? Not girlfriend? The boy looked astonished at Bai Zhuo and then at the car keys on the table. Oh my! It's a Hummer! Coupled with the fact that Bai Zhuo was four or five years older than these students, the boy was immediately intimidated by Bai Zhuo's presence and obediently got up to give his seat to him.
The commotion soon settled down. Ge Shui Lian's pretty face flushed red as she grabbed Bai Zhuo's leg and twisted it hard, gritting her teeth as she said, "What are you doing here?!"
Bai Zhuo suppressed the pain and replied nonchalantly, "What's going on with the boy sitting next to you?"
Ge Shui Lian's heart skipped a beat as she thought: Could he be jealous? A smug smile appeared on her lips as she said, "Hmph! Boys who pursue me can line up from here all the way to my house! He is the class monitor of Class Five and studies really well! What's wrong? Are you jealous?"
Unexpectedly, Bai Zhuo suddenly smiled wickedly and lifted Ge Shui Lian's chin with his hand, staring into her eyes. "What's wrong? Hehe, I came to see how my fiancée has been studying lately and found out that my fiancée is actually getting 'cozy' with another man. How should we punish you?" (To be continued.)
