"My Tenant is a Female Ghost" features a female ghost.
"You are... Miao Xiaoqi!" Bai Zhuo exclaimed. On the other end of the phone came a cheerful voice, like that of a magpie, "It's me, Brother Bai! Hehe... Did you miss me, Brother Bai?"
Bai Zhuo asked, "Qi, do you have a phone now?"
"No, Great-Grandmother doesn't allow us to use phones. I borrowed this from someone visiting the mountain to call you secretly. Brother Bai, did you miss Qi?" Miao Xiaoqi asked eagerly.
Bai Zhuo stammered, "Um... I, I missed Qi too." Bai Zhuo was someone who didn't know how to refuse, especially when it came to girls.
Miao Xiaoqi giggled happily, "I knew it! Brother Bai must have missed me too!"
A girl in love can be made incredibly happy by just a word or even a lie from her partner. Miao Xiaoqi said, "Brother Bai, today is Qi's birthday! I'm already seventeen!"
"Ah? Today is your birthday!" Bai Zhuo replied. "Qi, congratulations! Happy birthday! Even though Brother Bai isn't with you, you must celebrate well!"
"Mm!" Miao Xiaoqi sweetly responded, "Brother Bai, I... I really miss you..."
Bai Zhuo had just come from Ouyang Shirei's place and was feeling flustered; he didn't know how to respond. On the other end of the line, Miao Xiaoqi's voice turned slightly melancholic: "Brother Bai, actually... actually, Qi knows that the person you like is Sister Shirei. But Great-Grandmother told me that love must be fought for on one's own. Great-Grandmother and Great-Grandfather found happiness because Great-Grandmother persevered. So I won't give up!"
"Qi..."
Miao Xiaoqi forced a smile and said, "By the way, Brother Bai, Great-Grandmother sent Miao Long's Younger Brother to find you."
"Miao Long? What does Great-Grandmother want him for?"
"It's like this; according to Great-Grandmother, Climbing Tiger has been using our Witch Clan's name in Jiangnan to take on dirty jobs, so..."
Bai Zhuo understood and replied, "Alright, I got it. I'll make sure to treat A Long well."
"Brother Bai."
"Hmm? What's wrong, Qi?"
"Nothing, nothing," Miao Xiaoqi paused, "Brother Bai, when you encounter Brother Ah Tiger, I hope you can spare his life. After all, he... he grew up with me as Brother Ahu."
"Sigh," Bai Zhuo sighed, "Qi, you are just too naive and kind... But since it's you asking, Brother Bai will definitely agree."
"Hehe! I knew Brother Bai was the best!" Miao Xiaoqi exclaimed happily. "Ah, Brother Bai, wait, the owner of the phone is leaving."
"Qi!" Bai Zhuo called out to Miao Xiaoqi. "Hmm?"
Bai Zhuo took a deep breath and said, "Qi, Brother Bai misses you too, really!"
"..." Suddenly, a sob came from the other end of the line, Miao Xiaoqi's voice trembled slightly, "Mm~"
After hanging up the phone, Bai Zhuo sat on a rock in a daze, his eyes vacant. The emotions here were tangled and chaotic; perhaps it was best to let things unfold naturally. His mind was a mess, and Bai Zhuo couldn't remember how he got back home.
Kagura Aoi emerged from her room and saw Bai Zhuo. She bowed respectfully and said, "Master... you’re back?"
"Yes, I'm back." Seeing that Bai Zhuo seemed low-spirited, Kagura Aoi didn't want to disturb him. However, thinking about her brother's disappearance made her feel uneasy. "Master, my younger brother Gui Ye has been missing for nearly two months now. There’s no sign of him alive or dead; it really hurts my heart."
Right, there’s also Kagura Aoi. My first woman... Perhaps I should never have gotten involved with her in the first place. Bai Zhuo thought to himself as he stared into Kagura Aoi's eyes for a long time before forcing a smile. "Aoi, don’t worry. I’ve figured out Director Li’s routine; I plan to pay him a visit tonight."
"Okay," Kagura Aoi finally smiled. "Thank you, Master. Can... can I sleep with you tonight?"
"Uh..." Bai Zhuo wanted to agree but then remembered that Su Meiniang would come over every night to 'drop by.' He quickly shook his head and said, "No, no, Aoi should sleep in her own room."
Bai Zhuo refused, jokingly. Given Su Meiniang's personality, if he dared to act recklessly in front of her, she would surely make him pay for it!
That night, Bai Zhuo put on a black coat and headed outside. Just then, Su Meiniang appeared at the door, blocking his way. It seemed she had found something amusing. "Oh? Landlord, where are you off to?"
Bai Zhuo was going out to handle "serious business," and he didn't want to engage with Su Meiniang. However, this girl—no, this ghost—had the rebellious heart of a young woman. The more he tried to ignore her, the more interested she became. She clung to him, her nine tails swaying playfully as she cooed, "Bai Zhuo~ where are you going to have fun? Take your sister along! If you don’t take me with you, I’ll cry for you!"
Bai Zhuo frowned. "Su Meiniang, stop messing around. I have things to do."
"Oh? Things to do? What kind of things? Tell your sister; I can help! Come on! Let’s go have fun together!"
"..." This Su Meiniang was truly relentless. He couldn't fight her off or escape her grasp. If he didn't agree to her demands, she would cling to him until dawn. Bai Zhuo rolled his eyes and said, "Fine, I'm going to do something bad. Do you want to come along?"
"Ah! Doing something bad? Mei Niang loves doing bad things! Let’s go!"
And so, a man and a woman—a person and a ghost—sneaked into the alley under the cover of night.
Director Li's house was far from the city center, and there were security guards at the entrance making it difficult to enter or exit. However, according to Huang Jiangliu's investigation, although Li Lianrong was over fifty years old and had no wife—his spouse having passed away long ago—he had many mistresses outside. Tonight, he happened to be in the city for "business," and after finishing up, he would head over to one of his lovers.
Around one in the morning, the streets were chilly with a gentle breeze, and the moon hung high above—a perfect time for wandering spirits to emerge. Yet behind Bai Zhuo followed a Millennium Ghost; he vaguely noticed that within a thousand meters around him, there wasn't even a trace of filth!
"If all Millennium Ghost Spirits were like you and An Zhi Xi, the world would be at peace," Bai Zhuo sighed.
Su Meiniang paused for a moment before suddenly breaking into a sinister smile. "Young man, you're still too naive."
Bai Zhuo replied, "Have you harmed anyone? The monk Hengyuan has always wanted you to renounce your ways; haven’t you ever harmed anyone?"
"Have you ever considered what I was in life? Do you think we are like what is portrayed on television—so simple and pure? We... are monsters!"
"Well, I know, but it's just a Fox Spirit."
Su Meiniang's smile was somewhat eerie. Bai Zhuo had never seen her smile like that before; her blood-red eyes and sharp tiger teeth appeared particularly frightening against the backdrop of the night... with a hint of seduction. Should he perhaps learn more about Su Meiniang?
Bai Zhuo thought to himself, then coughed to bolster his courage and stepped forward to give Su Meiniang a firm pat on the backside. "Tsk! What kind of ghost do you think I don't know? Stop pretending, let's go."
Su Meiniang was momentarily stunned. It wasn't until Bai Zhuo had walked far away that she shrieked, "Hey! Bai! What's wrong with you? Why can you touch me? That's not fair! I'm the existence of the Thousand-Year Fox, Thousand-Year Ghost! Why can you just touch me at will? It's infuriating!"
Bai Zhuo and Su Meiniang continued their playful banter until they finally reached the second ring. Bai Zhuo hid in a dim corner by the wall, looking up at the building above. The lights were on, and he could guess what Director Li was up to.
"Rouge, I'm counting on you," Bai Zhuo said as a clever little bird crawled out from his collar. Perhaps due to the cold, the Crimson Bird looked plump, resembling a crimson hamster.
The bird, Rouge, reluctantly emerged, shook its feathers, and soared up toward the high-rise.
Su Meiniang saw the clever peacock and exclaimed in surprise, "Hey! Bai! What is that?"
Bai Zhuo replied, "Oh, that's my bird, called Rouge. Isn't it cute?"
It was rare for anything to astonish Su Meiniang, this Millennium Ghost, but the Crimson Bird managed to do just that, much to Bai Zhuo's delight.
"That is... a Holy Beast Phoenix," Su Meiniang said.
Now it was Bai Zhuo's turn to be surprised. He had thought this Crimson Bird was some kind of mutated creature, but hearing Su Meiniang say "Holy Beast Phoenix" left him stunned. He asked, "A phoenix? How is that possible!"
Su Meiniang replied, "Although it's faint, I can still sense the bloodline within it flowing with the power of undying divine fire."
After hearing Su Meiniang's words, Bai Zhuo remained in shock for a long time. This peacock was indeed a descendant of the phoenix; it seemed that his last trip to Miaojiang had yielded even richer rewards than he had imagined!
Peacock recognized its master, and Bai Zhuo felt a connection with him. Sure enough, Director Li was in bed with a young and beautiful woman, tangled up in the sheets. Bai Zhuo cursed, "Damn, such good cabbage has been pushed by a pig."
Su Meiniang flew up to take a look and floated down to ask, "Hey, you white-haired guy, are you out here doing something bad just to spy on this old man in bed?"
"Uh, I'm not that bored. Spying on this old man is less interesting than going home and sleeping with you!"
Su Meiniang chuckled and said, "Oh, so you've finally recognized my charm?"
"Alright, alright, you're the prettiest. But let's get serious; that old man has clues I need. Can't you handle those two?"
"It'll only take a moment, but... it seems a bit boring."
Bai Zhuo asked, "What do you want to do then?" Su Meiniang grinned mischievously, "Just watch me!"
Su Meiniang floated up gracefully while Peacock returned and nestled into Bai Zhuo's collar to continue sleeping. Bai Zhuo shivered alone in the corner, quietly waiting, unsure of what Su Meiniang was planning.
Suddenly, a heart-wrenching scream echoed from upstairs. In an instant, the scream abruptly stopped. Bai Zhuo hurriedly floated down from upstairs, his face filled with the mischievous glee of someone who had just played a prank.
"Hey, hey, what did you do to him? Why did he scream like that?" Bai Zhuo asked worriedly. "You better not have killed him."
"Hehehe... No way! Just go up and see for yourself. I've already opened the door for you and set up all the surveillance. But you'd better cover your face when you go."
"I came prepared with a mask and everything. Su Meiniang, I didn't realize you could be reliable sometimes!" Bai Zhuo flattered Su Meiniang. Indeed, she seemed pleased, her nose held high in pride.
With no obstacles in his way, Bai Zhuo arrived at the door of the room. He pushed the door open, and a strong stench of excrement assaulted his senses. "Wow! Oh... Su Meiniang, what did you do?"
Su Meiniang shrugged innocently and said, "Nothing much; it was just an illusion. Who knew he would be so easily scared?"
“Is this an illusion?” Bai Zhuo donned the prepared Ultraman mask, covering his nose as he stepped inside. He glanced at the man sprawled on the floor, naked and soiled, and couldn’t help but ask, “Is this really an illusion? He’s passed out and still defecating… Ugh… so disgusting… I can’t take it.”
Bai Zhuo took a few steps back, feeling both amused and exasperated. He turned to look at the woman cowering in the corner. This woman was Director Li's mistress. Surprisingly, she hadn’t fainted yet, but she didn’t look much better. Bai Zhuo pointed at her, and she cried out, “B-Brother, please don’t kill me! I-I’m willing to sleep with you!”
“Tsk…” After acquiring Kagura Aoi, Bai Zhuo found himself utterly uninterested in such women. “Take him to wash up, then you can leave.”
“Th-Thank you, Brother! Thank you!” With that, the woman, still naked, dragged her lover to the bathroom. She rinsed him off with water and brought him back out, though he still reeked.
Bai Zhuo had her put on some clothes and left her phone behind before threatening her a bit more and letting her go. He then dragged Li Lianrong downstairs and tied him to a utility pole with his own clothes.
A man wearing an Ultraman mask stood next to a middle-aged man bound to a pole, exuding a foul odor; the scene was quite bizarre.
Bai Zhuo slapped him across the face—no response. Another slap—still nothing. Bai Zhuo had no fondness for him; he remembered how Li Lianrong had insulted him last time. Bai Zhuo suspected he might be from the Tang family or the Leng family.
Su Meiniang floated behind Bai Zhuo, grinning as she watched him. “Hey, Bai, I didn’t expect you to be worse than me, tying someone up like this!”
“Worse than you?” Bai Zhuo pointed at the worm-like object beneath Li Lianrong. “You’ve scared him into impotence, and I’m the bad one? I think you’re truly beyond redemption!”
On a cold winter morning, Li Lianrong finally woke up from the cold, groggily opening his eyes to find… an Ultraman? (To be continued.)
