My Tenant is a Female Ghost
The walls of the labyrinth were embedded with large Luminous Pearls, as if they were free for the taking. As a trap-filled maze, it was extravagantly luxurious, yet the interior remained damp and cold, making it quite uncomfortable. However, after rescuing Cai Wenwu's cousin, Bai Zhuo felt a weight lift from his heart. Now, his primary task was to save Kagura Keiha while ensuring his own survival. Fate had a cruel sense of humor; the very person who had nearly killed him was now someone he had to rescue. If it weren't for his connection to Kagura Aoi, Bai Zhuo wouldn't have wanted to concern himself with this matter at all.
"Strange, didn't we just come through here?" Wang Tao asked.
Bai Zhuo adjusted his gas mask and carefully surveyed the surroundings, feeling puzzled as well. "I'm not sure; have we been here before?"
Wang Tao pulled out the Ink Fighting Thread. "Hold onto this and don't move. I'll go ahead and scout the way." The Ink Fighting Thread was long and thin, estimated to be at least two hundred meters. Wang Tao took one end of the thread and chose a path to venture deeper into the maze.
After a while, Wang Tao's figure and footsteps gradually faded away, leaving Bai Zhuo alone in place. He felt a twinge of worry; if Wang Tao found an exit, would he leave without him?
"Hehehe..." A chilling laugh echoed through the air, causing Bai Zhuo to frown and call out sternly, "Who’s there?"
"Hehehe!" The voice was hollow and cold. Bai Zhuo felt the Yin Yang Mirror in his backpack radiating intense heat from behind him, and he inwardly cursed. The Yin Yang Mirror could issue a warning when demons or spirits approached, functioning somewhat like Zheng Ming's Five Elements Plate—though it couldn't indicate direction. Holding the spinning Inkstone in one hand and gripping the Thunderwood Sword tightly in the other, Bai Zhuo kept his eyes peeled and ears alert.
"Come out! I noticed you sneaking around as soon as I entered!" Bai Zhuo shouted again. A grayish-white shadow suddenly darted past him! It wasn't that Bai Zhuo couldn't see it; its speed was simply too fast!
"Damn it!" Bai Zhuo set down the Inkstone and pulled out a deep black talisman from his pocket. The talisman seemed sticky like glue and firmly adhered to the tip of the Thunderwood Sword. "Ren Gao protect me, Protect Me, Ding Chou; Ren and Du protect me... Conceal yourself, Supreme True Lord, Urgent Command!"
The talisman on the tip of the Thunderwood Sword ignited into bright flames. The protective spell rose around Bai Zhuo along with the fire and incantation. With the power of the high-level black talisman combined with that of the Thunderwood Sword, this protective spell would prevent ordinary demons from coming within half a step of him. Even against a Millennium Ghost like Su Meiniang, it would likely take some time to break through.
Indeed, that gray shadow hovered at a distance, hesitant to approach Bai Zhuo easily. Just as he thought he could relax for a moment, he saw a sinister smile appear on the shadow's face before it gradually faded away into nothingness within the maze. Bai Zhuo exclaimed in alarm, "Not good! Wang Tao!"
Bai Zhuo grabbed the Inkstone and began to chase along the red thread. He worried about traps within the maze; thus he could only run along the path marked by the red thread. Although this was slower, at least it would prevent him from falling into traps and meeting an untimely end without understanding how it happened.
About two minutes later, Bai Zhuo caught up with Wang Tao.
"Wang Tao!" Bai Zhuo called out from a distance, standing behind him.
Wang Tao turned around, looking as calm as ever. "Ah, you're just in time. The line isn't long enough. I see you have something in your backpack. Do you have any spare lines or something similar?"
Bai Zhuo shook his head. "I don't have any lines in my bag. What should we do now?"
Wang Tao walked back, saying, "Well then, we can only rewind the lines, pull back the ones that are tangled, and try again."
"Wait!" Bai Zhuo shouted from afar.
Wang Tao asked curiously, "What's wrong?"
"Don't come any closer!" Bai Zhuo pointed the Thunderwood Sword forward. "You insignificant evil spirit, show me what you've got!"
Wang Tao paused for a moment, and a twisted smile appeared on his face as he asked, "How did you figure it out?"
"Because... I am a Yin-Yang Master!" Bai Zhuo would never admit that he was just guessing.
Wang Tao chuckled sinisterly. "A Yin-Yang Master? Oh, that makes sense. You can see me; it seems you have the Yin-Yang Eye. They say those who possess the First Yin-Yang Eye can withstand the sun's fire and walk among night spirits during the day. Come on, let me taste your eyeballs and see if they are indeed the First Yin-Yang Eye!"
"Mine is not the First Yin-Yang Eye, but I can see things naturally, so it's better if you don't eat my eyes," Bai Zhuo said innocently while blinking.
The Evil Spirit struggled to keep up with Bai Zhuo's train of thought and was momentarily stunned before cursing, "A Yin-Yang Master dares to toy with me! Seeking death!" Wang Tao spat as his hands transformed into claw-like nails and lunged at Bai Zhuo.
After the Possession, his strength would greatly increase. Bai Zhuo had a pistol on him, which could directly kill Wang Tao, making it a more secure option. However, if Wang Tao died, he would lose a scout, and he might end up falling victim to some inexplicable trap. Bai Zhuo's fingers brushed against the blade, smearing it with crimson blood. He formed Hand Seals and intoned, "All combatants advance together; 'forward' is the secret method, Urgent Command!"
With a hum, the blood on the Thunder Tribulation Divine Tree vanished. The water-blue fluid on the blade mixed with strands of lightning, swirling around the hilt and flowing back and forth to the tip of the sword. The two carved azure dragons on the blade appeared to soar through the air.
This sword was both beautiful and dangerous to spirits.
This was the secret method of "forward" from the Nine Character Mantra. Bai Zhuo had learned it without a teacher and had been using this Nine Character Mantra long before encountering Elder Ge. Now that he had truly stepped into the Yin Yang Realm, he not only remembered the Nine Character Mantra but also wielded it with greater mastery.
The primary element of the Nine Character Mantra's "forward" was enhanced by the damp chill in this place and the lightning contained within the Thunderwood Sword's white body, amplifying its power with elements of thunder and water!
Such a phenomenon stunned Wang Tao as he charged forward. Without hesitation, Bai Zhuo lunged with his sword. The water-blue fluid on the Thunderwood Sword seemed to respond to malevolent entities, forming a dragon's head that lunged at Wang Tao, crackling with electricity as if roaring like a dragon!
"What is that?!" Wang Tao exclaimed in shock, retreating rapidly. The water-blue dragon head relentlessly pursued him, seemingly trying to detach from the sword! However, it couldn't break free from the blade. Wang Tao was incredibly fast; Bai Zhuo dared not press forward and withdrew his Thunderwood Sword, raising a talisman defensively while keeping a wary eye on Wang Tao.
Boom! The ground shook violently as if an earthquake had struck. Dirt fell from above as the entire cave seemed ready to collapse. If they didn't get out soon, there was no telling whether their gas masks would hold up; if the ancient tomb collapsed, they would surely be buried alive! Bai Zhuo felt an overwhelming sense of urgency as the tremors intensified beneath him. His footing became unstable, nearly causing him to fall. He reached out to steady himself against the wall.
At that moment, however, Wang Tao grinned widely. A gray-white shadow shot out from him like a cannonball toward Bai Zhuo. Bai Zhuo barely had time to react before hearing a loud crash—the sound of shattering glass—as his protective talisman was easily broken!
"Damn it! It's still a Millennium Ghost Spirit! I overestimated my protective talisman..." This was Bai Zhuo's last conscious thought.
...
Meanwhile, Cai Wenwu found himself in a similar predicament. During the recent tremors, that Tomb Raider named Old Liu had managed to escape. He chased after him until he reached a fork in the path but dared not venture further inside. The bizarre and terrifying traps he had encountered along the way filled him with dread; as a Major, he couldn't afford to die in such an absurd manner! Yet turning back meant facing those traps that Old Liu had deliberately avoided earlier—now they posed an even greater threat. He found himself caught between a rock and a hard place.
"Damn it! I wonder how Bai Zhuo and the others are doing," Cai Wenwu thought anxiously.
……
"Have you not found that Island Nation kid yet?"
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Lin. Those guys came too quickly... he got away. However, he's still trapped inside. I feel like someone's got their eyes on me, so I'm pulling back for now."
"This is our first collaboration, and you've let me down, Wang Kun."
"Mr. Lin, business aside, there's still some honor among us. Although I'm not much in Ningcheng, I'm doing well in Haicheng. Tell President Wang that I, Wang Kun, share a common enemy with his old man, so let's not pursue this any further." Wang Kun smiled, but inwardly he cursed: If it weren't for that Bai's Kid, I would have already taken half of Ningcheng's territory without needing to look at your faces.
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line. "What do you know?"
"If you want to keep things hidden, then don't act. Mr. Lin, let's be clear—Bai's Kid has ruined our good plans. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Even though our deal didn't go through this time, we still have a common goal, right?"
"What do you know?" Mr. Lin repeated.
Wang Kun sneered, "Seven Star Life Extension, Mr. Lin. Do you really want me to come out?"
Beep beep beep... The call was disconnected. Wang Kun scoffed as he put away his phone. "You think you can use me, Wang Kun? Ha! Dream on!"
……
"Bang!" A steaming cup of tea came crashing down on Lin Butler's head, hot water mixed with blood streaming down from his forehead as he knelt on the ground, gritting his teeth and remaining silent.
"A-Lin, you've disappointed me greatly." Tang Baifu's chest heaved with anger. Lin Butler knew Tang Baifu's temper; he was furious now and chose not to respond.
After a while, Tang Baifu slowly took a puff from his pipe, exhaling clouds of smoke. "Find an opportunity to deal with him. As for that Bai fellow, let's put it on hold for now."
"Yes, my lord."
"If necessary, bring Tang Bao along."
"Understood, my lord." Lin Butler did not dare to say more.
Tang Baifu continued, "You can imagine the impact if this matter gets out."
Lin Butler remained kneeling on the ground, the atmosphere heavy.
"Sigh..." Tang Baifu lamented, "Don't be fooled by Zhongli's seemingly simple demeanor. If I can't get my hands on the Yata Mirror, he will never teach me his longevity techniques. My time with that old man is truly running out... A-Lin, do you understand what you need to do?"
"I understand, my lord."
Tang Baifu glanced at Lin Butler. "Well then, go ahead and do it... Also, the young master has been acting a bit recklessly lately. Make sure he tones it down; at the very least, he should realize that even without Tang Jie, he won't be able to stir up any trouble." (To be continued.)
