In the center of the tomb, the Jade Stone Platform was a massive coffin, its translucent jade reflecting the high status of its occupant. From Su Meiniang's actions, it was clear that there was something more to this coffin.
Bai Zhuo circled the platform but found nothing. "It doesn't make sense. Do we really have to force it open?"
Cao Yu, who was in the same predicament as Bai Zhuo, felt anxious. She squinted up at the ceiling and suddenly pointed, "Bai Zhuo, look!"
Following her gaze, Bai Zhuo noticed that the ceiling was adorned with fist-sized Luminous Pearls, just like those in the previous palaces, seemingly ordinary.
"Look," Cao Yu said, "that Luminous Pearl is particularly bright and has a different shape!"
Listening to Cao Yu, Bai Zhuo focused on it and indeed saw some clues. The Luminous Pearl resembled the others but had a distinctly regular diamond shape, as if it had been cut.
Bai Zhuo raised a hand and pointed to another side of the platform. "Look, there's a pattern here. I guess this must be a mechanism?"
Cao Yu's eyes lit up with certainty. "It must be! But we can't reach it."
"You can stand on me; I'll boost you up!" Bai Zhuo suggested.
Cao Yu reacted strongly, "No way!"
Bai Zhuo paused for a moment before realizing why. Cao Yu was wearing cotton clothes and had no pants on her lower half—she was essentially bare. If Bai Zhuo lifted her up, he would see parts of her that would certainly provoke any man.
"Then how about you lift me up?" Bai Zhuo tried asking.
"That won't work either!" Cao Yu replied angrily; she had no desire to see Bai Zhuo's filthy appendage!
"We can't just wait here to die; behind us is a dead end," Bai Zhuo said impatiently.
After thinking for a while, Cao Yu finally relented. "Alright, you can lift me up then. I don't have the strength to carry you. But you better close your eyes and not look up!"
"Fine, fine, stop dragging your feet; who cares? Come on, stand on me!" Bai Zhuo pretended to be indifferent as he squatted down, though he felt a stir of excitement inside.
"You! Hmph!" Cao Yu huffed coldly. But given the situation, she no longer resembled the icy CEO Cao Lengleng at all.
Cao Yu felt annoyed as she leaned against the Jade Stone Platform and, in a fit of pique, stepped onto Bai Zhuo's shoulder. The soles of her feet were soft, and even through a thick coat, he could feel the pressure.
Bai Zhuo lowered his head slightly, glancing at her feet. Her arched soles were rosy, and her neatly trimmed toes were adorned with delicate nail polish. It was clear that this woman took great care of herself, both in figure and skin.
"What are you looking at?" Cao Yu noticed Bai Zhuo's gaze and snapped angrily, pressing down harder with her foot.
Bai Zhuo wasn't particularly fond of Cao Yu's personality; he preferred women like Ouyang Shirei, who had a neighborly charm. Of course, Miao Qi was also nice, and Yang Liu had her merits too. As for Ge Shui Lian? Well, she was just okay.
With a hint of disdain in his voice, Bai Zhuo replied, "Do you think your feet look good? I couldn't care less; I'm just worried you might have foot odor."
"You liar!" Cao Yu was momentarily speechless. Having never been looked down upon before, she felt extremely wronged. She placed her other foot on Bai Zhuo's shoulder and stood up completely, bouncing a few times while holding onto the Jade Stone.
Bai Zhuo felt the weight pressing down on him and coldly said, "You crazy woman, don't be so unreasonable!" But instead of listening, Cao Yu only intensified her actions, stepping down harder. Frustrated, Bai Zhuo grabbed her foot and suddenly stood up straight.
Cao Yu lost her balance and swayed left and right while standing on Bai Zhuo's shoulder, screaming in panic.
"Ah! You white-haired loser! Let me down!"
Bai Zhuo seized the opportunity to vent his own frustrations and refused to comply.
Before long, Cao Yu could no longer hold on and slipped off Bai Zhuo's shoulder, landing squarely on his neck.
"Hiss~" The woman fell forward, clutching Bai Zhuo's head. Her warm, smooth legs wrapped around either side of his neck, with the hottest parts pressed against the back of his neck. He could distinctly feel her exquisite petals and the soft grassland!
Cao Yu also sensed something unusual in the situation, and suddenly everything fell silent. After a long pause, Bai Zhuo heard intermittent sobs from above. Cao Yu was crying; tears streamed down her cheeks as she felt wronged. Bai Zhuo immediately panicked and froze in place.
"I'm... I'm sorry," he stammered, but all he received in response was her soft weeping.
"I'm sorry; I was too much," he said more frantically now but noticed that Cao Yu's crying only grew louder.
"I'm really very sorry!" In truth, Bai Zhuo had low emotional intelligence; he didn't know what else to say besides apologies.
Cao Yu cried fiercely, one hand gripping Bai Zhuo's hair while the other wiped away her tears like a child who couldn't stop.
Perhaps she cried herself out because she gradually quieted down. However, she still remained perched on Bai Zhuo's neck for a while longer. Unable to hold back any longer, he gently comforted her, "Alright now, stop crying; it was my fault."
"I’m hungry."
"Huh?" Bai Zhuo didn’t hear clearly.
"I said, I’m hungry. Let’s hurry and find a way out." Cao Yu repeated.
Bai Zhuo was momentarily confused, and Cao Yu coldly said, "What are you standing there for? Help me climb up!"
"Oh, oh..." After crying, Cao Yu seemed like a different person, which made Bai Zhuo feel a slight sense of apprehension.
Ignoring the warmth of the girl beside him, Bai Zhuo grabbed Cao Yu's feet while she held onto the Jade Stone Platform and slowly stood up. Bai Zhuo resisted the urge to look up; although he knew that the view above was within easy reach, his instincts told him that if he looked up, he would lose something important.
Thus, Cao Yu repeatedly stepped on Bai Zhuo's shoulders until he relaxed. Still, Bai Zhuo did not look up; he simply stood quietly. After a while, Cao Yu's head peeked over the edge of the platform. She looked down at Bai Zhuo's head, a smile appearing at the corner of her mouth—one that she didn’t even notice herself.
"Hey, come up! I can’t reach that Luminous Pearl; we still need two people. I’ll pull you up."
Only when Cao Yu spoke did Bai Zhuo let out a sigh of relief. He looked up at her and nodded, forcing a smile that was more painful than tears.
Bai Zhuo took a few steps back to gain momentum and jumped. His right hand still had some distance from the platform, but Cao Yu managed to grab him. However, the girl’s strength was limited, and Bai Zhuo nearly pulled her down with him. Fortunately, his left hand caught the edge of the platform just in time. With all his might, he finally managed to get onto the Jade Stone Platform.
