My Tenant is a Female Ghost
With the commotion caused by Su Meiniang, morning arrived in the blink of an eye, and a knock echoed from outside the door. When I opened it, I was surprised to see Black Tiger, Wang Bin, and Yu Jie standing there.
"Smack!" The three of them saluted Bai Zhuo in unison. Bai Zhuo was taken aback and returned a rather awkward military salute. Black Tiger chuckled and pulled out a dark green military bag from the back of a military vehicle, handing it to Bai Zhuo.
"Wow, this is heavy!"
"Just two Type 9 pistols; the rest are 9mm bullets," Black Tiger explained. "Brother Bai, make do with these for now. Whenever you have time, contact me, and we can go to the base for some practice. We’ll also work on your automatic rifle skills; I'll have the boss arrange for you to get an automatic rifle. After all, Brother Bai, you are one of us in the Dragon Abyss Assault Team!"
Bai Zhuo accepted the heavy military bag, nodding with delight.
"Alright then, Brother Bai. We have matters to attend to at the ancient tomb, so we'll take our leave." The mention of the ancient tomb made Bai Zhuo's expression turn serious as he cautioned, "Be careful. If it's not absolutely necessary, don't go inside. It's far too dangerous in there; if I hadn't been lucky, I would have perished long ago."
Black Tiger nodded in agreement. "Yes, we understand. This matter is already under our control."
"Good, then I won't keep you any longer. I have things to do as well."
With that, Black Tiger and the others saluted once more before driving away.
Back in the courtyard, Bai Zhuo opened the military bag to find two jet-black Type 9 pistols resting inside, surrounded by boxes of golden bullets. A quick count revealed nearly a thousand rounds—no wonder it was so heavy!
In addition to these items, there was also an identification document. The cover was made of red leather with gold trim, featuring a vividly detailed golden dragon soaring across its surface. Below it were embossed golden letters: Huaxia Republic, Special Forces. Inside was a one-inch photo with a steel seal; Bai Zhuo wondered where Cai Wenwu and the others had obtained it. There were also numerous intricate patterns and text on it, but Bai Zhuo only noticed the word "Active."
For Bai Zhuo, this was a special time. He took out a pistol and secured both it and the identification document on himself before preparing to head to the train station to pick up Miao Long.
The train station was quite far away; if there was traffic on the road, what should take an hour could easily stretch into two. Driving to the station, Bai Zhuo arrived just in time at nine-thirty.
Sitting in the reception hall and watching the bustling crowd of travelers, Bai Zhuo sighed lightly. Once upon a time, he too had longed to live an ordinary life like those people. As he waited for Miao Long’s arrival, time seemed to drag on painfully slow. With nothing else to do, he pulled out his phone to play a game when suddenly he overheard a conversation nearby: "Limitless One… Miss, I can see that your fate line is dark; something ominous is approaching… Oh no, I mean a great calamity! Would you like me to read your palm?"
The man speaking had long hair and wore an ordinary coat while carrying a black travel bag. He looked somewhat handsome—like an artist on an expedition—but his words were nonsensical and made him seem deranged. Bai Zhuo chuckled softly and shook his head, choosing not to engage.
Just then, a man beside the girl stood up and swatted away the stranger's hand angrily. "Are you crazy? Limitless One? I'm more like Amitabha Buddha! Get lost! Don't touch my girlfriend!"
The Long-Haired Young Man didn't mind and shifted his position to continue observing.
"Limitless One... this young lady... I see you... oh no, don't hit me! Ah! If you hit me again, I'll call security... ah, still hitting..."
Bai Zhuo was focused on playing with his phone and didn't pay attention to the commotion until he suddenly heard the voice again: "Hey there! I see your face is like a peach blossom, your eyes filled with spring; it seems you've recently encountered a peach blossom calamity!"
"This guy... hey, dude!"
Bai Zhuo, annoyed by the noise in his ear, looked up to find the Long-Haired Young Man standing right in front of him.
"Hey there! I see your face is like a peach blossom; it seems you've recently encountered a peach blossom calamity!" the young man repeated.
"Are you talking about me?" Bai Zhuo asked, pointing at himself.
The Long-Haired Young Man stepped closer and replied, "Of course it's you! Look at you, your eyes filled with spring, your face revealing peach blossoms. Recently, you must have encountered a peach blossom calamity. If this continues, you might ruin your entire life! Would you like me to offer some guidance?"
Bai Zhuo was taken aback; he indeed had been experiencing some romantic troubles lately, but not to the extent this guy was suggesting. It seemed this person had some knowledge of the matter.
The Long-Haired Young Man, sensing he was right, sat down next to Bai Zhuo and continued, "My surname is Fan; people who know me call me Master Fan. I'm not boasting, but my fortune-telling is quite accurate. Just looking at you tells me you've got a peach blossom calamity coming up—women are constantly around you. At this rate, something will happen sooner or later."
"Is it really that serious?" Bai Zhuo asked in surprise.
"Of course... wait..." The young Taoist named Fan Jun suddenly stared intently at Bai Zhuo and leaned in closer to sniff him carefully before speaking again. "Strange, strange..."
Bai Zhuo's curiosity was piqued as he put away his phone and asked, "What's strange?"
Fan Jun's eyes lost focus as he began to speak almost to himself. "Ten miles of spring breeze reflecting peach blossoms... no, no... this scent on you... you're practically being haunted by the Peach Blossom Spirit! Wow, that's really enviable..."
Bai Zhuo ignored the last comment and thought to himself, "Could my luck—or rather, this calamity—be related to White Peach?" He recalled the Spirit Peach at home that had been nearly transformed into a spirit after being trained by An Zhi Xi.
"Ah, my Shifu Uncle has come to pick me up. I have to go now; perhaps we'll meet again by fate." Fan Jun looked up and waved at a middle-aged man in a gray Taoist robe in the distance. "Shifu Uncle, I'm over here!"
Fan Jun followed that man away. Bai Zhuo noticed that the person who came to pick him up looked somewhat familiar but couldn't quite place where he had seen him before.
"Ah! It's that sword-wielding Taoist I saw with Cao Xin back on the street!" When Bai Zhuo recalled this, the two figures had already walked far away.
"Brother-in-law... Bai Zhuo! Brother Bai Zhuo! I'm here!" Hearing someone call him, Bai Zhuo snapped back to reality and turned around, instantly recognizing Miao Long, whose outfit was simply too eye-catching.
Miao Long was dressed in the "authentic" attire of the Miao Family, full of ethnic flair. It had been a while since they last met, and Miao Long seemed to have matured a bit more, but he was still only fourteen years old. He carried a backpack that was larger than his own body, making him look quite comical, as if he had brought everything from home.
Bai Zhuo smiled and approached him, helping him take off the backpack. "Welcome to Ningcheng, A Long!" Miao Long grinned and nodded, looking around in awe. "Wow, so this is a big city!"
"This is just the train station; we're still a bit away from the city center. Let's go."
Miao Long followed Bai Zhuo out of the reception hall and into the parking lot.
"Get in the car, A Long."
Miao Long ran around Bai Zhuo's car excitedly. "Wow! Brother-in-law, is this your car? It looks so high-end!"
Brother-in-law...
Bai Zhuo felt a mix of sweetness and annoyance at that title. He could only respond vaguely as he drove Miao Long toward the city center.
