Laya's hand instinctively tightened around the handle of her luggage, feeling the malice in their words. Shirian, however, remained calm, only quickening her pace slightly.
"Her brother is probably just a useless waste, just coasting through military school."
"Yeah, maybe he only got in because of his sister. What a disgrace."
Unable to hold back any longer, Laya turned to the other cadets and shouted, "What gives you the right to say that about us? We just got here, and you know nothing about us. Is this the kind of quality we should expect from students at Central Military Academy? We're here to learn and grow, not to listen to your baseless slander. We're all classmates; why can't we get along and give each other a chance?"
Laya's sudden outburst left the cadets stunned. They had not expected the seemingly gentle Laya to be so furious.
For a moment, silence enveloped the scene.
A conflict erupted aboard the Starship at Central Military Academy.
Standing nearby, Ji Xingze was taken aback by the fierce anger of the fragile-looking girl, unsure of what to say.
Shirian tilted her head slightly, a ripple appearing in her emerald eyes.
Ji Xingze squinted, finally looking at Laya directly. "That sounds quite reasonable, but this is a military academy. Here, everything is based on strength; the weak do not belong in Central Military Academy and do not deserve respect. You either leave Central Military Academy now or prove your worth."
Laya frowned, her voice icy. "What would it take for you to apologize?"
"Apologize?"
Ji Xingze smiled and pointed in a direction. "There's a training room on the Starship. You and I can have a match there. If you win, I'll apologize to you."
"Is that all?"
Laya narrowed her eyes and agreed without a second thought.
Soon, the two stood at the center of the arena. Among the military academy students, there were no rules or standards; knocking the opponent down was considered a victory.
Ji Xingze wasted no time. As soon as his opponent took her stance, he launched himself forward with explosive force, disappearing from sight in an instant.
The next moment, Laya felt a rush of air beside her.
Ji Xingze's fist was clenched tightly, and he aimed a powerful strike at her arm joint, expecting to at least dislocate it. However, in an unexpected turn, his fist halted mid-air, unable to advance even an inch further.
The onlooking students thought the match was about to end since Laya appeared to make no evasive moves.
But in the next second, a tremendous pressure suddenly radiated outward from her center, and in the blink of an eye, everyone found themselves immobilized. The terrifying force made their Psychic Powers tremble uncontrollably.
Ji Xingze, at the epicenter of this pressure, was even more shocked. It was the first time he felt such an overwhelming sensation; every muscle in his body was beyond his control, even trembling was not permitted.
He attempted to unleash his own Psychic Power in retaliation, but it seemed to encounter a natural enemy, curling up within his Brain Region and shaking violently.
In the next moment, Laya lifted her gaze slightly toward him. With a loud "bang," an immense force sent Ji Xingze crashing to the ground.
Laya closed her eyes, the orange-red light in them gradually fading away.
At the same time, the overwhelming pressure that had filled the room suddenly relaxed, and almost everyone let out a sigh of relief. Some people lost their balance and nearly fell to their knees, still unable to process what had just happened.
This newcomer had won!
Ji Xingze grinned as he got back on his feet.
The pain from falling wasn't much, but that sheer force of Psychic Power had been terrifying.
Footsteps approached, and a pair of legs clad in casual sweatpants stopped in front of him. A calm voice asked, "Do I now have the right to ask for an apology?"
Ji Xingze lowered his head, staring at the ground and not daring to look at Laya's face. His tone was no longer as arrogant as before. "I sincerely apologize for my previous presumptuous provocation. I'm truly sorry."
With the crisis averted, the atmosphere around Laya shifted from icy to gentle.
She glanced around, confirming that Ji Xingze didn't appear seriously injured before choosing not to say anything further.
Even though he had apologized, she still didn't want to interact with this rude Ji Xingze.
At that moment, Sun Chi, who had been silently observing, stepped forward. "Your room numbers are 1108 and 1109. The temporary information has already been recorded. Would you like me to take you there?"
