Laya, no matter how gentle she seemed, still had a temper.
As soon as she arrived on the Starship, she faced hostility from her classmates. Now, in a state of stress, she said, "No thanks, we can find it ourselves."
Just as she was about to call Shirian to leave together, she noticed that the blonde boy had already walked off on his own. She hurriedly jogged to catch up with his retreating figure.
Once the people around her saw that she had left, they began to whisper among themselves about what had just happened.
"If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed that the seemingly weak new student could defeat the double S-ranked Ji Xingze."
Sun Chi withdrew his gaze and patted Ji Xingze's injured shoulder. "Your apology isn't sincere at all. No matter what, you should at least look her in the eye."
"Is it that I don't want to be sincere? I just can't bring myself to look into her eyes."
Those dark eyes, as black as ink, suddenly took on a hint of orange-red. For a moment, the terrifying mental pressure made Ji Xingze feel as if his soul were leaving his body.
He took a deep breath and felt himself gradually recovering.
"This new student might have extraordinary Psychic Power. That could explain why her physique seems so ordinary yet she was admitted to the Central Military Academy as an exception."
Across the entire Human Federation, there were no more than a handful of S-ranked Psychic Powers.
At that moment, Laya was preparing to find the cafeteria on the Starship. The outburst of her Psychic Power had drained her significantly, and she urgently needed to eat to replenish her energy.
She glanced at Shirian's room next door and hesitated for a moment before walking over to knock on the door.
After a while, Shirian slowly opened the door, his golden eyes fixed intently on Laya.
She smiled and said cheerfully, "Ashi, let's go grab something to eat."
Seeing that Laya had come to him for such a trivial matter, Shirian hesitated for a moment before preparing to close the door.
Laya instinctively pressed her hand against the door. "Wait a minute."
Caught off guard, Shirian's grip on something in his hand slipped due to the sudden force, and a series of clattering sounds echoed as Laya realized it was a colorful glass bead.
She quickly bent down to pick it up. "Sorry."
"Don't touch it!" Shirian's face twisted in anger as he grabbed the girl's hand.
Laya froze; it was the first time she had seen such intense emotion from him. His emerald eyes darkened, filled with boundless rage and killing intent. It was as if he had touched something filthy. He swiftly withdrew his hand and spoke to Laya in a slow, deliberate tone: "Stay away from me."
Ignoring the girl's stunned expression, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Laya stood outside for a long time without moving, and after what felt like an eternity, she finally lifted her heavy feet and set off alone in search of the cafeteria.
Sun Chi seemed to have received some kind of message and accurately found Laya.
Upon learning that Laya was looking for the cafeteria, Sun Chi offered to take her there. Laya didn't refuse; although she didn't have a good impression of these people, there was no need to make things difficult over food.
Upon arriving at the cafeteria, Laya noticed that many people were still inquiring about her. However, compared to the previous blatant and malicious stares, the gazes now were much more subtle. She didn't want to discern whether these looks were filled with goodwill or malice.
After facing continuous setbacks, even Laya, who was usually emotionally stable and gentle, felt a bit worn out.
Sun Chi noticed her discomfort and took the initiative to lead her to a corner table. Gradually, Laya's tense body began to relax.
Seeing the atmosphere improve, Sun Chi let out a sigh of relief. "The food here tastes pretty good. Would you like me to pack some for your brother?"
To his surprise, Laya's expression darkened significantly at those words. "No need," she replied.
Sun Chi was taken aback. What had gone wrong? Had he said something inappropriate? Why had the mood suddenly turned so stiff?
At that moment, Sun Chi's Light Brain chimed with a notification; it was a message from his older brother, Sun Yan.
He was surprised. "Junior, have you not opened your Light Brain at all? I sent you a message with Sun Yan, but we haven't received a reply from you. We were getting a bit anxious."
Laya paused for a moment before hurriedly opening her Light Brain.
It turned out that Sun Yan was aware of the situation on the Starship and repeatedly assured her that those responsible would definitely face consequences and that similar incidents would not occur at school again.
Reading this, Laya's mood improved slightly, but she still felt low. She couldn't quite articulate the uncomfortable feeling in her chest; perhaps it was because she had placed too many hopes and fantasies on her future life.
