Laya was unaware of the story behind the boy; she simply gazed at the illusions projected from the depths of Shirian's heart, feeling an involuntary sadness wash over her.
She sensed that Shirian had likely endured much pain and felt both anger and helplessness toward the one who had hurt him. She wanted to do something.
Thus, she channeled a portion of her Psychic Power into the illusion that trapped Shirian's consciousness. The specially directed Psychic Power transformed into an orange blade, which she used to sever the disgusting chains with a decisive strike.
Deep within the illusion, Shirian suddenly felt a bright light before him. He opened his confused eyes and realized that the shackles binding him seemed to have broken.
His gaze swept around, landing on a nearby orb of orange light. It radiated an aura from the Queen, yet it was unlike the Queen he knew. She appeared as a wise and mighty ruler, cutting through everything that had harmed and imprisoned him, bringing forth freedom and a glimmer of hope.
As a rescued follower, Shirian inevitably felt a yearning for her, wanting to pledge his loyalty and return to her side.
However, he had already been hurt once by his own kind's Queen. What if this divine being intended to drag him deeper into despair?
With Shirian's emotional turmoil, rain began to fall softly within the illusion.
Laya was unaware of the depth of his inner conflict. With a gentle sigh, she decided to leave some Psychic Power behind to protect him; after all, she had plenty to spare.
The orange-yellow orb of Psychic Power emitted a softer glow, tender as if cradled in a mother's embrace.
Shirian's battered body instantly felt relaxed. He opened his golden eyes wide and saw the enormous orange orb enveloping him completely.
Gently, Shirian touched the center of the yellow flower-like core and sensed the intention left behind by its owner. It was Laya's remarkably gentle will.
Shirian lowered his head, curling himself into a ball as he affectionately nuzzled against the comforting aura of his Queen, slowly closing his eyes. She was the gentle yet powerful presence that would always protect him.
Soon, Shirian began to change; his Psychic Power became docile.
In truth, the dark lines accumulated in his Brain Region were merely a result of his long-standing suppression of emotions through freezing them. So when the negative feelings suddenly erupted from their repression, the situation turned dire.
Fortunately, Laya was there. Without counting the cost, she unleashed her vast Psychic Power, decisively extracting and eliminating all the dark lines in one go.
Due to the substantial amount of Psychic Power used this time, Laya's exhaustion exceeded all her previous efforts combined. She stumbled slightly, nearly collapsing to the ground.
Seeing her pale face and swaying body, Shirian, who had just regained consciousness, felt a tightness in his heart. He immediately transformed back into a more convenient human form and caught her.
However, in his haste, he did not revert properly; instead, he ended up in the half-human, half-butterfly state he had been in during the illusion. He embraced her tightly, inadvertently pressing against his textured muscular chest.
Laya felt a rush of warmth. After regaining a bit of strength, she lifted her head to steady herself, only to be met with a scene so beautiful it seemed otherworldly.
The boy's golden hair fell softly around him, and his golden eyes sparkled like sunlight on a lake. His tattered clothes revealed pale yet strong flesh beneath, and behind him sprouted a pair of wings as delicate as gossamer.
For a moment, Laya was entranced, instinctively reaching out toward those dreamlike wings. "So beautiful," she murmured.
To Shirian, this smile felt like the Queen affirming his beauty.
In reality, he felt somewhat apprehensive. He had treated the Queen poorly before, yet she had selflessly helped him without holding grudges. However, that did not mean she had so easily forgiven him; even he found it hard to forgive himself.
What if the Queen doesn't get close to him because of his previous attitude? Fortunately, it seems he has found a way now.
