Ma Hao's mother was doing it on purpose.
She deliberately provoked me, hoping to make me emotional and then cause a miscarriage. I was truly infuriated by her actions.
Looking at her tear-streaked face, I couldn't help but sneer. "Ma Hao's mother, I know you're worried about the child, but this is going too far, don't you think?"
"I'm just pregnant; I'm not sick. Why can't I continue being the homeroom teacher?"
"If you really care about the child, you should respect the child's teacher instead of humiliating me in front of so many people like this."
Seeing this, several other parents began to criticize Ma Hao's mother as well. "Ma Hao's mother, this is too much. Teacher Lin is just pregnant; that doesn't mean she can't work."
"Exactly! Teacher Lin is so responsible; even while pregnant, she will still take good care of her students."
"What you're doing is just too domineering!"
As Ma Hao's mother noticed everyone starting to blame her, she became even more furious and stood up abruptly, pointing at my nose and shouting, "You all don't understand anything! It's not that I want to transfer schools; it's this woman who is deliberately retaliating against me!"
I looked at her coldly.
"What do you mean by that, Ma Hao's Mother?"
"What do I mean?" Ma Hao's Mother scoffed. "You’re afraid I’ll report that you’re pregnant, so you threaten to transfer Ma Hao. And now you have the nerve to ask me what I mean?"
I couldn't help but laugh in disbelief at Ma Hao's Mother. It was the first time I had seen someone twist the truth so boldly and confidently.
I shook my head. "Ma Hao's Mother, I never said I wanted to transfer Ma Hao."
"You’re lying!" Ma Hao's Mother snapped. "If you didn’t have that intention, why would you block me? You know very well that blocking a student's parent is a huge taboo!"
I replied calmly, "That’s because what you said was too much."
"How was it too much?" Ma Hao's Mother grew increasingly agitated. "Everything I said is true. You’re pregnant and can’t work, so you should resign instead of occupying the homeroom teacher position and delaying my child’s education!"
I really didn’t want to continue this argument any longer. I turned on the projector and displayed the message Ma Hao's Mother had sent in the parent group onto the blackboard.
"Everyone take a look; this is the message Ma Hao's Mother sent me yesterday."
"She said I’m pregnant and can’t continue as homeroom teacher, suggesting I terminate the pregnancy."
"Isn’t it obvious she wants me to resign?"
Everyone stared at the news on the screen, and an uproar ensued.
"Ma Hao's Mother, this is too much, isn't it?"
"Teacher Lin is just pregnant; that doesn't mean she can't work. Why should you force her to resign?"
"Exactly, Teacher Lin is so responsible. Even while pregnant, she will still take good care of her students."
"What you're doing is really excessive!"
As the crowd's accusations grew louder, Ma Hao's Mother's expression darkened. She clenched her teeth and suddenly shouted, "Everyone, shut up!"
"Do you know why I want her to resign?"
"Is it just because I can't teach Ma Hao?"
"No!"
"It's because she doesn't deserve to teach Ma Hao!"
"A woman like her is completely unworthy of being Ma Hao's teacher!"
I was taken aback by her outburst. This was the first time I had seen her so hysterical. She had always been someone who cared deeply about her image, maintaining an air of superiority at school. But now, she seemed like a completely different person. Her face was twisted with rage, and her eyes were bloodshot, as if I were her sworn enemy. I looked at her, unable to suppress my frown.
