I had long noticed that Yan Junde and Mary had mutual feelings for each other. Although they often bickered, whenever it came to a critical moment, they were always the first to think of one another. At this moment, outside the silent laboratory, Mary finally faced her feelings. 0

But this kiss came far too late, carrying an indescribable sense of desolation. Juan Juan was also secretly wiping away her tears, and my heart felt like a tangled mess. I had never been so flustered, even when Zhao Mingkun had taken me hostage. Yes, we had witnessed too much death, but that did not mean we were numb; on the contrary, we cherished life more than many others. 0

The world is often so strange; we understand this truth, yet death follows us like a shadow. Many who live in safety seem eager to give up their lives. At this moment, Dezi finally couldn't hold back any longer, tears streaming down her face. I had never shied away from admitting my fear of death; I was just an ordinary person who often feared it as well. Yet in the face of danger, we all became fearless. 0

Dezi wiped her tears away and then dried Mary's face as well before saying, "I've said a lot already, and I don't want to say anything more. If I am unfortunate enough to contract AIDS, please don't tell my mother. If one day I die, please take care of my mother." 0

We nodded heavily, wanting to speak but unsure of what to say. 0

Dezi continued, "The case is still ongoing; it will take at least two weeks to get results. If you truly care about me, I hope we can investigate this case thoroughly within these fourteen days and find the Killer. It would not be in vain for all the time and effort we've put in." 0

After drying our tears, life must go on. Dezi was right; our most important task now was to catch the Killer and bring the culprit to justice. With that thought in mind, I headed to the interrogation room. The Detective Captain had already detained Han Youliang and started the interrogation. From behind the one-way glass, I could clearly see Han Youliang and hear his voice. 0

I extended my finger and gently pressed it against my temple because I feared that if I looked at Han Youliang for too long, I would be unable to suppress the urge to tear him apart. 0

Han Youliang confessed readily and seemed quite pleased with himself, as if he took joy in his final act. In his own words, killing one was breaking even; killing two was profit. Under the Detective Captain's interrogation, we learned about the relationship between Han Youliang and Qiang. 0

It turned out that Han Youliang and Qiang had known each other for quite some time through Zhao Huanghe. The auto repair shop mentioned by Lü Weiguo actually belonged to Zhao Huanghe. Zhao Huanghe's public identity was that of the boss of the repair shop, employing several mechanics, including Lü Weiguo and Qiang. 0

Privately, Zhao Huanghe used the profits from the repair shop for loan sharking and employed thugs specifically for debt collection. The two groups under Zhao Huanghe rarely met each other; hence Lü Weiguo did not recognize Han Youliang. However, Zhao Huanghe had previously introduced Qiang to Han Youliang. 0

Zhao Huanghe realized that Qiang was not cut out for a stable job at the repair shop; instead, he thought it better for Qiang to work with Han Youliang. Thus, Qiang became friends with Han Youliang. Later on, when Han Youliang went solo, Qiang became Zhao Huanghe's top enforcer. However, Qiang was clearly not as capable as Han Youliang as an enforcer, and as Zhao Huanghe aged, he gradually withdrew from the loan sharking business. 0

Qiang struggled to make a name for himself and eventually fell into drug use; thus he was let go by Zhao Huanghe. Drugs cost money; after exhausting his own funds and borrowing from relatives without success, Qiang turned to Zhao Huanghe for help. Out of previous goodwill, Zhao Huanghe lent him money and even allowed him to stay in one of his bungalows—a labyrinthine place hidden away. 0

Feeling embarrassed to ask Zhao Huanghe for more money again, Qiang remembered Han Youliang. Given their connection through Zhao Huanghe, Han Youliang lent Qiang around fifty or sixty thousand in total over time. However, Qiang could never repay this debt and was frequently pressured by Han Youliang for payment. 0

This explains why other addicts often saw Qiang hanging around with Han Youliang. They were already acquainted with each other well enough that when it came time for hiding places like the Container, Han Youliang knew exactly where to find Qiang. 0

That day, Qiang, in an attempt to evade the police, arrived at the Container, only to be confronted by Han Youliang. Qiang stubbornly refused to repay the money he owed. Han Youliang was thoroughly enraged; he had never failed to retrieve a debt before, and those who refused to pay had all met dire fates. This was something Han Youliang often boasted about, yet most Addicts knew he had no leverage over Qiang. 0

For the sake of his reputation, or perhaps his pride, Han Youliang decided to teach Qiang a harsh lesson to ensure he repaid the money soon. He inserted Iron Skewers into Qiang's body, carefully avoiding any vital areas. Qiang never imagined these men would kill him, so he did not resist desperately; otherwise, he would only end up worse off. 0

Han Youliang had no intention of killing Qiang; the Iron Skewers were not lethal, and death would result from excessive bleeding. In other words, if Qiang were promptly taken to a hospital, he would survive. The 128 Iron Skewers symbolized that Qiang needed to repay the money by December 8th. 0

At that moment, figures appeared in the distance, approaching their location. Han Youliang thought that if this person discovered Qiang, they would surely call the police. Once the police arrived, they would have to take Qiang to the hospital, which meant he would survive and leave them with trouble. 0

However, Han Youliang did not expect that the person did not call for help! To ensure this person could see him, Han Youliang deliberately placed a lit flashlight outside the Container. When they went to the Mahjong Parlor earlier that day, Han Youliang initially thought we were the same people from that night and did not suspect anything. 0

Upon hearing this, there was a flaw in the story. When we arrived at the scene, there was nothing in the Container except for a corpse; not even a flashlight was present. If what Han Youliang said was true, it indicated that someone had entered the Container that night and taken something away. 0

Han Youliang knew he was doomed and likely wouldn’t lie; just from that last act alone, he had already sentenced himself to death. That’s why he dared to continue going to the Mahjong Parlor afterward; he believed Qiang wouldn’t die. It wasn’t until our arrival that fear gripped Han Youliang. He understood that regardless of how things played out, Qiang had died at his hands. With his criminal record, being caught would lead to unimaginable consequences, which is why he ultimately acted like a cornered dog. 0

Han Youliang smiled and said, “Regardless of how it ends up, I killed him. I have one last wish: can I play a round of Mahjong before I die?” 0

The Detective Captain stepped forward and saw me; he paused for a moment before asking, “Did you hear everything?” 0

I nodded and then asked, “Didn’t our team search the Mahjong Parlor and Han Youliang’s home? Did you find anything? Especially anything belonging to Qiang?” 0

The Detective Captain shook his head and replied, “No, nothing has been found yet. If we discover anything, I will let you know. But did you catch anything from Han Youliang’s interrogation? He claimed he didn’t want to kill Qiang and even left a flashlight behind. However, when we arrived, we found none of these items. I feel like Han Youliang isn’t lying; there’s no reason for him to do so—or is he deliberately trying to mislead us?” 0

“Given Han Youliang’s character, it’s certainly within his capability,” I nodded and said. “But if what he said is true, it means someone came here after Han Youliang left! This person likely isn’t a thief; I doubt any thief could calmly steal something while witnessing someone being skewered.” 0

“We found no fingerprints on Qiang’s body—does a thief possess such high anti-detection skills?” I continued. “I believe whatever this person took must be something that could reveal crucial details about the case. The Killer likely wanted everything removed from the Container so I wouldn’t figure out what it was.” 0

The Detective Captain nodded and said, “From this angle of analysis, we might uncover something significant. I’ll keep pursuing this lead!” 0

At that moment, my phone suddenly rang. I looked at the screen and saw it was a call from the department. As soon as I answered, the Vice Minister launched into a tirade, “Have you lost your mind? What’s all this nonsense online? Assaulting someone? Do you have any idea how bad this looks? You just made a name for yourself, and now you can’t sit still, can you? Are you even going to wear that uniform again?” 0

“Get back here immediately! Your case has been handed over to the Second Unit!” the Vice Minister said decisively. 0

Just as I feared, the situation I was worried about had come to pass, but I had no regrets. Taking a deep breath, I replied, “Vice Minister, I did hit that person, but I had my reasons. We must handle this case; even if you strip me of my rank in the end, I’m committed to seeing it through!” 0

“Do you really think I can’t control you?” the Vice Minister shouted. “You need to come back right now! I don’t care what your reasons are! This is an order, not a negotiation. The Second Unit is already on their way!” 0

“I’ll tell you this,” my anger flared up as I spoke. “Because of this case, Yan Junde may have contracted AIDS! It was that bastard who did it! We’ve sacrificed so much for this case; if you want to pull us back now, I have nothing more to say! We’re seeing this through!” 0

With that, I hung up the phone and then removed the battery. No matter if the Second Unit was on their way or not, I was determined to continue investigating this case. For the sake of the deceased and for Yan Junde, I couldn’t give up halfway. If I backed down now, what would happen to Yan Junde? 0

“The department called?” Detective Captain shook his head in disbelief. “You just hung up like that?” 0

I sighed and replied, “Let them investigate. If they find anything, have Dezi give me a call.” 0

An unsolved mystery: a mysterious 21st-century Airborne Troops unit appears in North America, rescuing Indian Red-Haired Beauties, enjoying Blue-Eyed Busty Blondes, dominating Wall Street, amassing wealth across America, and initiating a Han Ethnic Colonial Global Model. 0
