I turned back to see the man in the white coat still unconscious on the ground, looking like a dead pig. I had no idea when he would wake up, nor did he know what awaited him—abandoned by the organization like a dog. The white coat was involved in these experiments, and naturally, he would not escape the law's punishment. However, he was just a small fish; capturing him wouldn't make much of a difference. 0

With this thought, I couldn't help but shake my head as several people pushed me forward. At that moment, He Pingli was leading the way at the front. As we walked down the corridor, we noticed that all the doors were open. Many people were orderly evacuating, carrying various large bags on their backs, likely filled with documents or pharmaceuticals. 0

The elderly were now nowhere to be found; they must have been locked away in one of three paths. However, when we exited, there were no signs of them. If that was the case, it meant that these individuals had been abandoned by He Pingli. These elderly people, along with those stored in freezers, were too large to be anything but discarded from the start. 0

Thinking of this, I asked He Pingli a question: "What do you plan to do with those elderly people?" 0

"That question is somewhat amusing," He Pingli replied. "Of course, we have to kill them. These elderly know how they got here; if they get out, we won't be able to continue taking care of them at our next base. Some of them are aware of what they were injected with—this information is confidential, so they can't be allowed to live." 0

"Is such a simple question really necessary?" He Pingli continued. 0

Hearing this made my blood boil. There were at least dozens of elderly people here, yet in He Pingli's eyes, their lives held no weight whatsoever. Life meant nothing to her. I suddenly recalled how Zhao Mingkun had faced me before; she could have killed Yue'er but ultimately refrained from doing so. 0

If Zhao Mingkun still had a shred of compassion and a hint of conscience left in her heart, then He Pingli was even more deranged and devoid of mercy. If the organization ordered her to die, I believed she would do so without hesitation. Noticing my silence, He Pingli continued, "What's wrong? Are you feeling sorry for those elderly?" 0

"You don't have to think that way," He Pingli glanced back at me and said. "If we hadn't taken in these homeless people, they might have died long ago among the skyscrapers. You hypocritical do-gooders—if you care so much about their lives, why not establish a shelter for the homeless?" 0

"What do you think they eat every day? Where do they sleep?" He Pingli continued. "In this forest of steel and glass, indifference is everywhere. But here with us, at least before they die, they can enjoy warm shelter and the best food without worrying about when their time will come." 0

"Isn't that the happiest situation?" He Pingli said angrily without looking at me. 0

I shook my head and chose not to say anything further. People with different worldviews could never reach an understanding. But we both knew this was criminal behavior. My mission was to pursue and capture them. 0

The lights around us began to turn off as about twenty people emerged from three alleys, along with nearly twenty men in white coats—around forty individuals in total. He Pingli counted everyone and said, "Everyone's here; follow us. There are cars waiting to take us away. Don't make any noise; there should already be police at Mountain." 0

As she spoke, several individuals approached and bound my hands and mouth with tape. They wrapped it tightly several times around both me and Dezi; we couldn't move our arms or speak at all. In the corridor there had been some light, but now it was pitch black everywhere—perhaps He Pingli feared we might try to escape. 0

Stepping out of the cave into the darkness surrounding us, several people pulled us along in a silent yet orderly manner toward Mountain; it was clear they had undergone professional training. The stars twinkled above us; it was around three o'clock—the darkest hour of night. If we got separated from Juan Juan and the others now, it would be safe to say we wouldn't be found again. 0

Though I was anxious, there was nothing I could do but passively move toward the Mountain, searching for any opportunity to escape. At that moment, we saw flashlights flickering at the foot of the mountain; it seemed that Juan Juan and the others had arrived. Judging by the number of flashlights, there were likely around twenty people. 0

Seeing hope, I felt helpless to notify them. My phone was still in my pocket, but I couldn't move, unable to use it to call for help. Just then, I heard rustling sounds coming from the nearby bushes, as if some large animal was moving through the undergrowth. 0

Listening closely, it didn’t sound like the typical noises made by small animals like rabbits or foxes. One person whispered, "Lily, what is that? Should we go take a look?" 0

Lily gestured for everyone to stop and not disturb whatever it was. If it were a small animal, it might leave on its own after a while. However, if we startled it and made noise, those at the foot of the mountain would surely hear us. The mountain was eerily quiet, with only the occasional chirping of insects; if anything shouted out, its voice would carry far. 0

As everyone stood still and listened, the rustling grew louder, drawing all attention toward its source as we prepared to see what it was. Suddenly, a shout rang out, catching everyone off guard and startling us all. 0

The shout was: "It's me!" 0

The voice was deafening and filled with rage. In such a quiet night, that loud cry made my ears ring and my head buzz; I stood frozen in place, unsure of what to do. 0

This was definitely not a sound that any animal could make; that powerful shout echoed far into the silent night. Those at the foot of the mountain must have heard it clearly. We had no idea who had shouted like that, but even the startled insects fell silent. The surroundings became unusually quiet, yet I could still hear the echo of that loud shout in my ears. 0

But this voice did not come from the bushes ahead; rather, it seemed to come from behind us. Everyone was still reeling from the shock when someone dashed toward us. This person barreled through and knocked over several doctors. 0

Immediately, many fell to the ground; these white coats had removed their white garments to avoid being too conspicuous in the dark night. They were all wearing black clothes and pants underneath, making it impossible to distinguish one from another as they lay sprawled on the ground. I realized that someone had deliberately created chaos. 0

"Run!" came another shout. 0

Dezi and I recognized this as an excellent opportunity to escape and began sprinting down the mountain with all our might. At the same time, we recognized the voice of the person shouting—it was none other than the doctor who should have been unconscious in the Mortuary. How he managed to follow us here was a mystery. 0

This indicated that he had actually woken up before He Pingli arrived. Instead of getting up, he continued to "play dead," likely realizing that knowing too much would lead to his demise faster. What he didn’t know was that even if he remained ignorant, he would still be abandoned by the organization. Perhaps his scientific dreams had shattered, which fueled his anger as he rushed here to try and free us. 0

The flashlights at the foot of the mountain were now wildly swaying; it was clear that those people were moving toward us in a frenzy. The situation had descended into chaos; under the moonlight, many paths were unclear, and no one cared about what they were stepping on anymore. Cries of despair began to rise; some must have been pushed down and trampled underfoot. 0

These trained teams quickly fell into disarray; at this moment, everyone looked out for themselves—no one had time to consider anyone else’s safety. He Pingli understood she had been exposed; at this point, there was little difference between shouting loudly or softly. I imagined she must have been grinding her teeth in frustration at how her carefully laid plans were being disrupted by an enraged doctor. 0

She shouted loudly, "Don't panic, don't panic! I've told you all where to go before, just run there! We'll gather and set off when the time comes!" 0

Upon hearing the command, the group focused on finding their way up, but they were burdened with heavy packs and couldn't match the speed of the pursuing police below. Some began to drop their heavy bags on the ground with a thud, and more followed suit, hoping to lighten their load for a quicker escape. 0

However, there were several meters of distance to cover. He Pingli shouted angrily, "Everyone, put your bags back on! You all know what's inside them. Even if you manage to escape, think about how the organization will deal with you if you lose your things. Don't do anything foolish!" 0

"Even though we can see some light, look closely; that light is still far away from us! Let's head to the assembly point; we can all get away." 0

But in the current chaos, it was hard to see who was who even a meter or two away. No one cared about documents anymore. Even if they would be hunted down later, surviving for a moment seemed more important. With that thought in mind, everyone was already in disarray. Listening to the surrounding chaos and watching the police chase from below, I made a decision. 0

The last encounter with Zhao Mingkun had allowed him to escape; if I let He Pingli slip away this time, I wouldn't be able to keep my position as the leader of the Special Investigation Team. However, I couldn't speak now and had no idea where Dezi had gone in the darkness. The only option left was for me to chase after He Pingli. 0

Fortunately, He Pingli's earlier words had revealed her position. I could vaguely see her shadow. Realizing that the situation was beyond saving, He Pingli stopped talking and turned to run towards the mountain. I couldn't let her get away and followed closely behind. 0

He Pingli wasn't slow; I kept right on her heels until soon I could no longer see anyone else. 0

A high school student had been kidnapped along with a leggy school beauty and a busty third-tier celebrity trapped in an abandoned cabin after mistakenly eating unknown wild fruit, feeling feverish in the middle of the night. 0
