The five red dots on the map had turned into dull black spots, indicating that the Killer had destroyed all five trackers. After destroying these trackers, he was likely to escape. I gripped my dagger tightly, ready to confront the Killer. 0

"There's a traffic jam ahead!" Dezi shouted. 0

"Get out and run!" I yelled back. "Mary and Juan Juan, you two stay here. Dezi and I will chase him!" There was no time for further discussion. As soon as we got out of the vehicle, Dezi and I took off like we were in a sprinting competition, racing towards the location. 0

After about five minutes of running, we finally arrived at our destination. It was a two-story building. Looking up, we saw pigeons circling above, and on the rooftop stood a figure dressed in black. Although the trackers had been removed from the pigeons, they continued to linger on the roof, seemingly uninterested in food. 0

Realizing this, we rushed towards the building. At that moment, the person on the rooftop spotted us and turned to flee. I quickly said to Dezi, "You have better stamina; go after him on the roof while I follow him from below. Don't let him escape!" 0

Dezi nodded and dashed inside the building while I followed closely behind on the ground. Most of the buildings around were two stories tall, with only a few higher ones scattered about. The Killer was maneuvering on the rooftop and had already reached its edge. 0

At that moment, Dezi also appeared on the rooftop, with an estimated distance of about five hundred meters between them. The gap between the two buildings was roughly four meters wide. Just as I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he had nowhere to run, something shocking happened. 0

When the Killer reached the edge, he showed no signs of slowing down, seemingly oblivious to the six-meter-high wall that stood four meters away. If he jumped at such speed and hit that wall, he would likely end up as nothing more than a splatter—if he survived at all. He must have been pushed to this extreme. 0

As I ran below, I watched in disbelief as the Killer leaped into the air in a perfect arc and landed on the opposite rooftop. He rolled forward to absorb the impact and immediately got back up to continue running. At that moment, Dezi reached the edge of his rooftop as well. 0

Dezi stepped onto the ledge and leaped with all his might, almost instantaneously soaring into the air. I held my breath for him, fearing for his safety. I continued running forward; ahead of me loomed a wall—a six-meter-high structure with three more meters to reach its top and over two meters separating us. 0

As I climbed higher, my view became increasingly obstructed. I had no idea which direction the Killer would take next. To my surprise, instead of running sideways, he jumped up and ran three steps along that wall! 0

I had seen such feats performed by renowned parkour athletes before; this Killer was undoubtedly a parkour expert. Only someone with extraordinary muscle power could achieve such agility. No wonder those who had encountered him previously remarked on his impressive physique. 0

The Killer left three footprints on the wall before grabbing onto the edge of the opposite rooftop with both hands and pulling himself up effortlessly. Dezi was not far behind; he quickly made his way onto that rooftop as well. 0

Below us stretched a busy street filled with traffic. I had to keep an eye on both the cars ahead and what was happening above me. However, as I ascended higher, it became increasingly difficult to spot either of them; I could only occasionally catch glimpses of their shoulders or heads moving in the distance. 0

I ran along that street but could no longer see anyone on the rooftops. 0

After rounding a corner, I still couldn't find either of them; it felt like I had lost track of them completely. Just then, I heard a gunshot echo through the air—I couldn't tell who fired it between them. To be honest, none of the nearby residents seemed to react at all; it wasn't like what you see on television where one shot sends everyone fleeing in panic. 0

Our country has strict gun control laws; our public safety ranks among the best in the world. Most people go their entire lives without ever hearing a real gunshot or even considering it might happen—likely thinking it was just someone watching TV or kids playing with firecrackers instead. 0

I breathed a sigh of relief that no riot had broken out, but the heavy weight in my heart remained. Regardless of who fired the gun, the situation had escalated to a point of no return. I hurried toward the direction of the gunshot and soon spotted a man standing at the edge. 0

It was none other than the Killer from before. His hat had fallen off during his escape, and he wasn't wearing his sunglasses. I quickly took out my phone and snapped a photo from a distance. The building towered over nine meters high, and below was a bustling street; jumping down from here would essentially mean one thing—death. 0

The Killer had committed numerous crimes in North City, primarily because he managed to survive and thrive. To evade capture, he sought us out, choosing not to cooperate with the police to avoid imprisonment. 0

A person like him would surely value his life. He had previously leaped from over four meters and scaled walls exceeding nine meters because he was confident in his abilities. But now, he was cornered with nowhere to run. Did he dare jump from this ten-meter-high rooftop? If he did, survival was nearly impossible. 0

At that moment, a crowd began to gather across the street, noticing the Killer on the rooftop, unsure of what was happening. My phone rang; it was Dezi calling me. He said, "I've cornered him. I fired a shot into the air." 0

From my position, I couldn't see Dezi, but judging by his voice, it seemed like everything was under control. 0

"Good," I replied with a smile. "Keep him steady; I'm heading up now!" 0

I located the building and rushed to the rooftop. In no time, I reached the top. As soon as I arrived, I saw Dezi aiming his gun at the Killer. Upon closer inspection, the Killer appeared to be in his thirties, with dark skin and a square face, dressed in a black hoodie. 0

When he noticed my arrival, he seemed indifferent, his eyes reflecting an indescribable sorrow. 0

I slowly approached and asked, "So you’re responsible for all those murders in North City?" 0

He looked at me for a moment before responding, "That's right; I did it." 0

"So you're a traitor to your organization?" I continued questioning. "You killed people to drag us into this case so you could escape?" 0

"Exactly!" he replied. "The more chaotic things get, the better my chances of escaping. But I never expected you would find me so quickly. You’ve only been involved in this case for a short time; previously, I killed to test your capabilities. Now it seems you truly have what it takes—just didn’t expect you’d find me first." 0

It appeared that this man was indeed the Killer. I pressed on with my questions: "Was Queen treating you poorly? Why did you betray the organization? What role did you play within it?" 0

He visibly flinched as if confused by my questions and said, "Don’t ask so much; I know that if I fall into your hands, it's game over for me." 0

As he spoke, he took several steps back until half of his foot was dangling off the edge of the rooftop. It seemed this muscular man was determined to end his life; my heart raced at this realization. Given his style of crime and level of caution, he didn’t strike me as someone who would commit suicide. Yet now, with just a gust of wind, he could easily fall from ten meters high. Was he trying to force my hand? 0

Clearly, keeping him alive would yield far more benefits than letting him die; with him alive, we could uncover more about the inner workings of his organization. 0

"Don't be impulsive; things can be negotiated. If you can provide us with clues about the organization, I promise you, death can be avoided, but prison is inevitable." I tried to speak slowly. "You know, given your crimes, this is already the best treatment you can get! What do you think?" 0

But the man shook his head and then closed his eyes. We watched as tears streamed down his face like a torrential downpour. When he opened his eyes again, they were filled with tears, and he wore an expression of utter despair mixed with a hint of relief. 0

Then, right before me and Dezi, he leaned back. Dezi rushed forward in a flash, but ultimately was a moment too late to grab the Killer. I immediately ran to the edge as well. The Killer had chosen to commit suicide; he really had chosen to end his life. 0

His suicide caught me off guard; it was truly unexpected. 0

Dezi and I leaned over the edge to look, and just then, a garbage truck came rolling by. The Killer fell directly into the open garbage bin of the truck. Although there were hard objects inside the bin, it was mostly filled with plastic bags and rotten fruit and vegetable scraps. 0

After he fell in, the gruesome scene we had imagined did not occur. He barely seemed hurt as he stood up from the pile of trash. Then he looked at us and burst into laughter, completely opposite from his earlier despair. He looked like someone standing on a mountain of gold, tossing garbage beneath him into the air as he shouted, "Haha! I'm not dead! I'm not dead!" 0

The driver of the truck probably never expected that there was a living person in the large garbage bin, so he continued driving forward. Dezi and I shouted and yelled but couldn't get through to the driver of that garbage truck! I quickly noted down the license plate and began calling Captain. 0

Dezi simply cursed under his breath, "Damn!" 0
