Chapter 1: Master Pang
The entire Huaxia Alliance had no more than three hundred Monarchs. Even if some chose to remain hidden, they could not exceed fifty in number.
In such a family, the Lin family accounted for over one percent of the strongest individuals in the Huaxia Alliance, which meant their status and influence within the alliance were extraordinary, akin to that of a royal family.
After Lin Dong left, the only one left to greet him was Lian Yun's Second Uncle, Lin Xi. However, Lin Xi merely smiled and said, "Third Brother, take Yun to see Mother first. How about Yun sparring with Second Uncle later?"
"How could I refuse!" Lian Yun replied respectfully.
His martial path had been initiated by this Second Uncle. Although they did not have an official master-disciple relationship, the bond was real. Knowing that Second Uncle wanted to assess and guide his martial skills, Lian Yun naturally dared not show any resistance.
"Elder Brother, why don't you take Yun over?" The Monarch surprisingly displayed a hint of fear, which was rather amusing.
Lian Yun smiled lightly and said, "I'll go myself!"
With that, he walked forward, emerging from the underground to the surface.
Lian Yun had spent three or four years living with the Lin family, so he was quite familiar with them.
However, after three years apart, walking through the Lin Family once again filled him with a sense of nostalgia.
In today's world, the Demon Clan was powerful. Coupled with environmental pollution and destruction, many places became unsuitable for human habitation. Even though technology had advanced, the space available for humans to live in was less than one-tenth of what it had been before the rise of the Demon Clan.
As a result, every city’s land was utilized to its fullest extent. Families like the Lin family that could afford mansions were exceedingly rare worldwide. Moreover, the Lin Family's land area was nearly thirty thousand square meters and was located in the capital city.
If it were built into a high-rise building, it could accommodate tens of thousands of people or serve as a commercial complex housing thousands of businesses.
After reminiscing for a while, Lian Yun headed straight toward the deepest part of the Lin Clan Mansion—his Grandma's personal courtyard.
Along the way, Lian Yun encountered several Spirits and servants, exchanging greetings with them. Most interactions were merely polite acknowledgments. However, when he reached the entrance of his destination's courtyard, he immediately bowed respectfully to a somewhat unattractive yet kind-looking ghostly figure and said, "Lian Yun pays respects to Master Pang!"
This Spirit was an enlightening teacher for the younger generation of the Lin Family. Lian Yun's three uncles owed their achievements as Monarchs partly to this Spirit. Additionally, Lian Yun’s somewhat formal manner of speaking as a modern individual also contributed to his respect for Master Pang.
However, this was just one reason for Lian Yun's respect; there was another significant reason related to Master Pang's identity.
Master Pang is an Ancient Celebrity, a Phoenix Scholar from the era of the Three Kingdoms, known as Pang Tong.
In today's world, the appearance of Spirits has left the Huaxia Ethnicity in a state of confusion. Ancient Celebrities manifest as Spirits, but due to memory loss or their dying wishes, their personalities have drastically changed, and their abilities do not align with historical records.
It remains unclear whether they have changed after becoming Spirits or if the historical accounts were inaccurate.
Regardless of the situation, while people study the biographies of famous figures, they dare not fully rely on these records when interacting with the corresponding Spirits.
However, there are some Spirits that closely resemble their historical counterparts, and Master Pang is one of them.
It is said that during his lifetime, Pang Tong enjoyed evaluating individuals and cultivating others' reputations, often leading to a discrepancy between their fame and reality. When asked why he did this, he claimed that promoting good role models could improve societal values and increase the number of virtuous people; otherwise, the good would dwindle while the wicked would multiply.
Today is no different. With Spirits rampant, the environment in which humans can live has drastically diminished. The harsh conditions have led to a decline in human morality. During a martial arts competition for young talents, Master Pang evaluated the Cloud Emperor, Four Great Sons, and Four Great Talents.
Even in contemporary Huaxia Land, despite its large population and countless talents, the so-called Four Great Sons and Four Great Talents do not necessarily represent the strongest individuals of Lian Yun's generation.
While some may occasionally exaggerate the titles of Four Great Sons and Four Great Talents, no one disputes Lian Yun's title as Cloud Emperor.
This is because he reached the King's Realm at a young age and possessed a unique Yin-Yang Stage ability that granted him true Monarch-level power. Although his time to wield this power was limited, a Monarch is still a Monarch.
Indeed, it has been proven that Lian Yun as Cloud Emperor can protect an entire city and millions of people.
Additionally, historically, Pang Tong was a strategist of unparalleled caliber. Today, the Lin Clan's immense influence and status are significantly tied to his counsel.
However, there is one aspect that slightly diverges from history: Master Pang today is deeply passionate about learning and education.
He can be considered a walking encyclopedia and the enlightening mentor for all disciples of the Lin Clan.
Despite his high status within the Lin Clan, Master Pang still regards himself as a servant. Upon seeing Lian Yun bow in greeting, he also bowed and said, "Young Master Yun, please enter! The matriarch has been waiting for some time."
Understanding Master Pang's nature, Lian Yun did not dwell on it too much but bowed again before stepping into the courtyard.
Upon entering through the gate, his eyes were immediately drawn to an ancient tea tree by the entrance. It was not tall but was lush with branches and leaves, exuding an air of rustic vigor and resilience.
Ahead, the bridge flowed over the rockery, and beside it was a pond with dark green lotus leaves. The season had not yet arrived, so there were no lotus pods or seed heads. Delicate flowers and grasses lined both sides of the winding path.
It was a scene reminiscent of the gardens of West Lake, pleasing to the heart and mind.
In today's world, such a residence could be considered extremely luxurious.
However, if the three sons of the Lin family, who ranked among the world's monarchs, could not allow their mother to live in such a comfortable environment, then they would be failing as sons. It would mean that humanity had reached the brink of extinction.
Further ahead stood a pavilion, within which sat a beautiful woman who appeared to be only in her thirties. She sat cross-legged on the wooden floor, dressed in silk garments adorned with an embroidered phoenix, exuding an air of nobility and dignity.
The beautiful woman was resting with her eyes closed. Her face, free of wrinkles, though seemingly youthful, revealed a sense of hardship, authority, and sternness.
Upon seeing this beautiful woman, Lian Yun felt his heart warm and quickened his pace until he reached her side. He noticed the tea table in front of her; steam was rising from the teapot while the teacups were filled with tea that had already cooled slightly.
Lian Yun wanted to pour tea for the beautiful woman, but he was overwhelmed with shame and anger at the sight of several physical photographs in her hands. He wished he could find a crack in the stone to hide in.
Those photographs were of Le Yan's mother releasing images of him being made up by Le Yan and another recent photo of him dressed as a woman.
