Chapter 59: Being a Cannon Fodder is Fine
If, before entering Fengdu, Lian Yun only suspected Zhou Tong of having ulterior motives, then by the time they approached and entered Fengdu, Lian Yun was certain of Zhou Tong's ill intentions.

Upon entering the room, Zhou Tong's entire demeanor seemed to shift inexplicably.

"Well! You both should know each other; I won't introduce you. Get ready to head out!" His tone was absolute and left no room for doubt.
"Big Brother, there's no need for Chen Zai. You're going out just to find him! But who is this beside Chen Zai?"
"Hmm? You don't recognize Cloud Emperor?"
"Cloud Emperor? This middle-aged man—" Before the words could finish, Zhou Tong and his three companions simultaneously emanated a sharp aura!
Zhou Tong turned back, casting a shadowy gaze at Lian Yun, who had donned a human skin mask that made him appear to be in his thirties. After a moment of silence, Zhou Tong spoke in a deep voice: "What advice do you have, Cloud Emperor?"
"I still don't know what your intentions are, Senior Zhou," Lian Yun replied, glancing unexpectedly at Chen Tao.
Initially, Lian Yun thought he had put Chen Tao in danger; little did he realize that he himself had been dragged into this situation by Chen Tao.
Lian Yun's tone remained calm, causing Zhou Tong and his three companions to focus intently. They were in a state of full alertness, indicating that they would not take things lightly.
"We only need one or two scouts," Zhou Tong stated. "Chen Tao has decent abilities; he is an excellent choice! If Young Master Yun is willing to follow our instructions, while we cannot guarantee absolute safety, we will do our utmost to protect Young Master Yun's life!"
Scouts were merely cannon fodder; however, Lian Yun maintained a serene smile as he replied: "I thought you were also seeking my Cloud Emperor's Order!"
"Cloud Emperor's Order!" The three were taken aback for a moment before greed flashed across their faces.
"Hmph~~" Zhou Tong let out a cold snort, causing the three to immediately suppress their greed, their expressions turning fearful as they lowered their heads.
"The rule here is simple: only seek the target's items. If you covet anything beyond that, I will personally ensure that you wish to live but cannot, and wish to die but cannot!"
"Yes!" The three replied in unison, bowing respectfully, filled with trepidation.
At this moment, Lian Yun felt a chill in his heart, simply because of Zhou Tong's absolute self-control, as if he would never make a mistake.
Moreover, throughout it all, Zhou Tong had not acknowledged that Lian Yun had already mastered Sword Intent. This suggested that either Zhou Tong possessed a stronger Martial Intent or had the ability or items to restrain Martial Intent; otherwise, he could not display such dominance.
"Cloud Emperor wants to rebuild spiritual power. Without experiencing endless life and death, how can one achieve the impossible? May I ask Cloud Emperor to surrender all Spirit Cores and the Ghost Group?" Although Zhou Tong's words were polite, his tone left no room for doubt.
In response, Lian Yun was straightforward. He pulled at his clothing, letting all the Spirit Cores fall to the ground, proving he had no hidden stash while also handing over the Ring Ghost Group.
However, Lian Yun's decisiveness made Zhou Tong's eyes narrow with intense seriousness.
"Sword!"
"Sword is not allowed!" Lian Yun shook his head.
But the other three instantly formed a circle around Lian Yun, exuding an aura of certain death.
Yet before their momentum could fully materialize, three sword energies flashed by and vanished. As the three completed their lethal stance, several strands of hair fell from their temples.
This left the three in shock, too frightened to act recklessly.
Zhou Tong's voice grew even darker: "Armed!"
"Armed is something my family has carefully prepared; consumables can be given to you!" Lian Yun's tone remained calm.
However, Zhou Tong remained silent, his gaze fixed intently on Lian Yun.
The atmosphere became tense!
After a long while, it seemed that Lian Yun was the first to break the stalemate. He shook his head with a bitter smile and said, "It is not that I am arrogant, but I believe that you seniors would not dare to truly take action against me! However, as you mentioned, if I wish to cultivate my spiritual power anew, I must endure endless life and death."
"Thus, I feel that even if I am used by you, it is acceptable. If your use of me can allow me to re-cultivate my spiritual power, when I leave Fengdu, I will still be grateful to the four of you!"
Lian Yun's words sent a chill down the spines of all five people, including Chen Tao.
It seemed they had never considered that Lian Yun could be so ruthless, willing to be used by others just to experience endless life and death in order to re-cultivate his spiritual power.
This strength of will was astonishing! Such cruelty towards oneself was heartbreaking.
Zhou Tong's eyes darkened, revealing a murderous intent several times before it faded away.
After a long pause, he spoke again in a deep voice, "How about I make a deal with the Cloud Emperor?"
