Chapter 84: Lian Yun's Protection
The first stage took a few hours, the second half a day, and the third a full day. It seemed to multiply, so how much slower would Lian Yun's cultivation progress become after one or two more stages? It appeared calculable, yet uncertain.

Yet Zhou Tong did not express any concerns; he simply continued to wait.
On another morning, they set out towards the East District to meet up with Murong Ying.
Meng Zhigui, Jia Shuhua, and Sister Bear had all imparted their skills to Lian Yun. Only Zhou Tong and Chen Tao had nothing to teach him, as their abilities were innate and could not be passed on.
However, during their daily travels, Lian Yun had begun to sense his surroundings more keenly. Although he couldn't completely avoid encounters with humans or the Demon Clan like Zhou Tong could, he was able to minimize his exposure to them.
As for his sense of danger, with his hollow body gradually being filled again, some of his once-sharp perceptive abilities were returning.
Though he might not match Chen Tao in terms of distance sensitivity, Lian Yun's perception was more comprehensive and detailed.

Chen Tao and the others could imagine how Lian Yun had wiped out the ten or so people as soon as they appeared, without even knowing their intentions.
Zhou Tong felt somewhat dissatisfied with this; for instance, how did those Ten People know their whereabouts? If it were him, he would have definitely left one or two alive to extract information before eliminating them.
Although the overly protective nature of their leader was appreciated by his subordinates, there were bound to be situations in the future where sacrifices would need to be made to achieve great ambitions. With Lian Yun's character, it seemed unlikely that he would ever accomplish such grand feats.
Zhou Tong couldn't say much about it; he could only hope that Lian Yun would improve once they reached Yin Yang City. If all else failed, he would have to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
Now, although Lian Yun appeared indifferent, that "mm" had slipped out involuntarily, indicating that he harbored murderous intent. He wouldn't be at peace until certain things were eradicated.

As for why Zhou Tong needed twelve Nutrient Extractors?
It was simply because Murong Ying had cleared some obstacles for Lian Yun when she left, which indicated that they were willing to align themselves with him.
Though it wasn't explicitly stated, Zhou Tong had already considered Murong Ying's team as allies, and Lian Yun had also accepted them as his own.

"Do you know where they are?" Lian Yun asked calmly.

Murong Ying shook her head and said, "The Ten People, each of them is as strong as we are. Finding them won't be easy!"
After saying that, Murong Ying looked at Lian Yun and Zhou Tong with some confusion.
She could guess some things, but she didn't understand why Zhou Tong had such an expression.
Zhou Tong shook his head, paused for a moment, and then mentioned how Lian Yun had once single-handedly taken down a team. He then helplessly added, "Young Master Yun intends to go all out for your revenge!"

Now, although Lian Yun was young, this concern that she showed for them naturally made them feel incredibly warm.
Even though Lian Yun merely nodded lightly at them, to Murong Ying and the others, it felt like a promise from Lian Yun.
'In the future, no matter who bullies you, I will make sure they pay dearly.' It was just a guess, but Murong Ying and her companions were already very satisfied.
After a moment of silence, Zhou Tong and the others gave their Nutrient Solution to Murong Ying and her group. Zhou Tong also requested some nutritional tablets from Lian Yun and distributed them among the nine of them, just in case.
Afterwards, Chen Tao and the others were adjusting, while Azure Flower's team was recovering. Zhou Tong and Murong Ying were discussing some terrain and route issues in a corner.
Once their discussion was mostly concluded, Zhou Tong asked, "Did you encounter them by chance, or were you ambushed?"
"Ambushed!"
Murong Ying's response darkened Zhou Tong's expression.
This suggested that the Ten People team held a position akin to that of the local lords in the East District. The Ten People were formidable, and it was likely that some among them possessed special abilities. Otherwise, even a Ten People team with equal combat strength would not have been able to injure Murong Ying to such an extent.
"What was your condition at the time?"
"We had just fought a battle but still maintained ninety percent of our strength."
"Mm!" Zhou Tong nodded. Although his expression remained serious, it softened somewhat.
Murong Ying's team had only been at ninety percent strength at that time. While this seemed not far from their peak condition, the fact that they had been ambushed by the Ten People indicated that the enemy's strength was not truly equal to theirs. The fact that all five of Murong Ying's team members managed to escape meant that the Ten People's capabilities were not as formidable as they appeared.
