Chapter 190: Arrival at Xianyang
It was easy to get up, but this task was far from simple. The Twelve Fierce Warriors combined were comparable to a Monarch. Lian Yun, Yang Zai Xing, and Black Capital possessed the power of a Monarch. Among the Twelve Demon Slaves, Zhao Jinlong, Zhao Jinhui, Shihai Yong, and Bai Yuancheng were all exceptionally strong.
Indeed, Lian Yun, along with all his Ghost Slaves, actually wielded the power of five or six Monarchs.
However, even so, if there was any slight misstep, the mission could not be completed, let alone achieve a perfect clearance.
The rewards for a perfect clearance were quite substantial.
Although Lian Yun did not know how high the status of a Third-Class Imperial Citizen was, it was certainly higher than that of an ordinary resident. Naturally, this meant more rights and privileges, which Lian Yun welcomed. However, he felt somewhat dissatisfied with the house.
The courtyard would definitely be larger and could serve as a base for Ma Wenlong and others. But the problem lay in its location in a bustling area.
There was no doubt that bustling areas were often dominated by Monarchs and Major Powers. If Ma Wenlong and his group frequented such places, they would inevitably attract attention.
Whether it was for forming connections or malicious intent, as long as it was known that Ma Wenlong and his group lacked a strong backing, they would surely face restrictions and even oppression.
Thus, although they would have a larger living space, Lian Yun still believed it would be better for Ma Wenlong and his group to rent rooms at an inn as their initial base.
"Please register and collect your property deed at Master Ying's place in Xianyang City Inn."
As the words fell, Lian Yun suddenly felt the surrounding darkness turn chaotic.
This must be a form of teleportation similar to burrowing underground!
Without thinking much, Lian Yun put away all the Ghost Slaves and quietly waited.
In less than ten breaths, Lian Yun's eyes brightened as he saw an extremely prosperous ancient city before him.
He found himself in the center of a square, surrounded first by rows of market stalls, and then at the edges of the square stood several Palace Buildings, each about eight or nine stories high. Behind these buildings were tower-shaped structures that reached ten stories or more. These were likely some so-called Inner City Instances and various adventure locations.
The entire square was bustling with activity, a perfect scene of Harmony Between Humans and Spirits.
"Make way, don't block the path!"
A furious shout came from behind. Lian Yun turned to see a burly man glaring at him with anger.
However, Lian Yun realized he was standing on a Teleportation Point, blocking the man's way. He nodded apologetically and stepped aside.
"New here? At least you know some rules. Hmph~~~" The man glared at Lian Yun but seemed somewhat satisfied with his compliance and did not pursue the matter further, leading five or six others away.
Lian Yun didn't take it to heart and scanned the entire square, searching for traces of Ma Wenlong and the others.
After three rounds of looking, he finally spotted Tian Shou in a corner by a wall. If he had just arrived there, it wouldn’t be much of a concern; however, if he had been there for a while, Lian Yun couldn't help but admire his skills.
Lian Yun quietly approached, and as soon as Tian Shou noticed him, he immediately "fled." Lian Yun followed closely behind.
Tian Shou twisted and turned through the crowd for nearly half an hour before entering a slum and slipping into a Dilapidated House.
Once inside, Lian Yun saw Ma Wenlong and Song Hansong, along with two other individuals.
Including Tian Shou, the five of them bowed to Lian Yun and said, "We pay our respects to you, Lord."
Without waiting for Lian Yun to respond, Ma Wenlong immediately reported, "Lord, through my inquiries, it has come to my attention that in order to establish a force here, we need a diverse range of talents."
"First, in addition to the three of us, we will also need some individuals with practical skills to produce and manufacture daily necessities. Furthermore, to build a force and establish a base, we will need to frequently interact with the officials in Famous City."
"There are many aspects that require preparation. Overall, a complete force seems to need the ability to be entirely self-sufficient."
"Therefore, I plan to have Ruo Qianyi in charge of recruiting and managing members related to practical professions. Feng Licheng has exceptional social skills; I intend for him to be my assistant."
"That is fine; you may proceed as you see fit!"
For Lian Yun, as long as he did not expose his identity for the time being, everything else was not a concern. However, he felt a bit troubled and said, "I originally wanted to find you a safe place, but the Siheyuan I have is located in a bustling area and may not be suitable for your comings and goings."
"Siheyuan?" Ma Wenlong and the others were suddenly filled with excitement and disbelief.
Lian Yun was somewhat puzzled but continued directly, "Yes, I successfully completed a challenging mission and obtained the status of a Third-Class Imperial Citizen along with a Siheyuan in a prosperous area. However, given the current situation, it may not be wise for you all to enter and exit frequently in such a busy location."
Ma Wenlong immediately smiled and said, "Lord, you may not know this, but residences above the Siheyuan level can establish micro Teleportation Arrays. As long as you grant us access to use the Teleportation Array, we can enter without walking on the streets."
"Moreover, within the Siheyuan's premises, we can see outside while those outside cannot see inside, so we need not fear prying eyes."
With such advantages, Lian Yun was somewhat surprised but also felt quite satisfied. This would indeed be convenient. He nodded and said, "In that case, wait here for me. I will go retrieve my identity and residence before coming back to hand things over to you."
"I will await your return here, Lord! If you are unsure of where the Post Station is located, just ask one of the City Guard soldiers by the roadside."
Lian Yun nodded and swiftly moved outside the Dilapidated House, returning directly to the square where he had previously noticed a bustling Post Station at the corner.
As he crossed the square, Lian Yun curiously observed the various items at the stalls and the peculiar equipment on display. He soon arrived at the edge of the Post Station, where he saw ten people gathered around one individual, all with their heads bowed, fingers pointing aimlessly in the air.
Intrigued, Lian Yun took a step closer and heard someone say, "Esteemed Third-Class Imperial Citizen, please confirm your identity."
Suddenly, a special interface popped up before Lian Yun, displaying "White Cloud, Third-Class Imperial Citizen. Confirm."
Lian Yun reached out and tapped to confirm. The interface vanished only to be replaced by another one.
"79 Siheyuan, South Street Three. Please write down the name of your residence."
Lian Yun casually wrote "White Cloud Manor" in the blank space.
The interface disappeared again, and another one appeared. This time it featured three portraits.
The first was an elderly man with a kind face, introduced as Wei Butler, skilled in receiving guests. The second was a serious-looking middle-aged man, introduced as Fang Butler, known for his meticulousness in handling affairs. Lastly, there was a dignified middle-aged woman, introduced as Du Butler, adept at managing servants.
