Chapter 8: A Guarantee, High Morale
A single sword pierced through the entire Chaos Beast Tide, specifically the High Emperor Beast Tide. The number of Chaos Beasts slain in that strike was beyond counting.
This left both Yaochi and the Lone Wanderer factions in a state of shock. However, Lian Yun's face showed no signs of joy; instead, she cast a worried glance downward.
Among the ten thousand Junior King Disciples of the Xianjian Sect, nearly half were collapsed on the ground, while the others hurriedly sat down to recover. Only about a hundred remained standing, but they all had their eyes closed, as if in deep contemplation.
It wasn't until Lian Yun sensed that no one had suffered irreparable injuries that she finally breathed a sigh of relief. She then began to formulate a plan.
In the blink of an eye, three miles was almost nothing for the Chaos Beasts with High Emperor and Monarch-level strength, as well as for the Yin Yang City Unit Type.
Thus, while those on the city walls were still in shock, the two sides had already engaged. However, due to Lian Yun's sword strike disrupting some balance within the Beast Tide, chaos erupted as soon as they made contact. This was especially true for the wide passage created by Lian Yun that spanned a hundred meters.
With so many Chaos Beasts present, once contact was made, it didn't matter what damage the Yin Yang City Unit Type sustained; even the limited number of Hundred-Meter Robots could not completely block them. As a result, numerous Chaos Beasts surged past the robots and confronted the Terracotta Army Unit Type behind them.
The Terracotta Army was not particularly strong; many were quickly destroyed. However, their near-infinite regeneration ability allowed them to continuously revive and slow down the momentum of the Beast Tide. Following this were the Ghostly Guards, who did not aim to kill outright but rather sought to injure as many Chaos Beasts as possible.
By the time the Chaos Beast Tide passed through Yin Yang City's Three Major Troops, both Yaochi and Lone Wanderer combatants faced heavily or lightly injured Chaos Beasts.
Thus, on Yaochi's side, those at Medium Monarch level attacked lightly injured Chaos Beasts with full force, while Initial Monarchs formed teams of three to five to take down heavily injured ones. The Lone Wanderer faction operated similarly, though a few mid- to high-level Monarchs focused on hunting heavily injured Chaos Beasts.
Since this Beast Tide had rankings and rewards associated with it, for the resource-scarce Lone Wanderers, improving their rankings to gain more rewards was naturally a priority.
Their actions were thus understandable.
As long as they weren't hiding at the back or deliberately snatching others' prey, no one would voice any complaints.
The battle had begun in earnest. After confirming that her Ten Thousand Disciples were mostly unharmed, Lian Yun ascended above another group of ten thousand Elementary Kings. She then used her Ten Thousand Sword Intent to influence their understanding of the Ten Thousand Swords Classic, bringing their states into alignment.
At the same time, numerous advanced Soul Swords split off from Wutai Sword around her, forming a massive cloud of swords. They arranged themselves into a gigantic Soul Sword.
Although this Soul Sword composed of ten thousand Soul Swords was not large in size, it still fell short compared to the Giant Sword formed by the collective intent of Ten Thousand People and their Ten Thousand Swords Classic.
Lian Yun continued to influence the Ten Thousand Disciples, compressing their thoughts and condensing the Giant Sword to a level that was nearly identical to the Soul Sword.
Suddenly, Lian Yun activated the Ten Thousand Sword Technique, causing countless Soul Swords to almost merge into one. Below Lian Yun, the Ten Thousand People seemed completely controlled, standing upright. As Lian Yun waved Sword One, the Ten Thousand People began to execute ten thousand completely different sword techniques.
Outside the city walls, a distance of one to one and a half miles away was where the human race was fighting. Lian Yun's kilometer-long Soul Sword struck the ground, nearly piercing through the entire battlefield. This time, it did not vanish in an instant; instead, it reached the edge of the battlefield before sweeping across.
The Soul Sword swept through a third of the battlefield without stopping, beginning to encroach upon Yaochi's territory.
However, the personnel on Yaochi's side showed no dissatisfaction. Upon seeing Lian Yun's Soul Sword about to sweep towards them, many women leaped up or immediately retreated to the top of the city wall.
This sweeping motion by Lian Yun passed over all of Yaochi's territory and only stopped at the last fifth of the Lone Wanderer's edge.
It wasn't that it couldn't continue sweeping; rather, it was uncertain about the Lone Wanderers' attitude.
Even Zhuang Wuxue was shocked beyond measure. Yet she immediately asked, "Bai Yun You, how long can you maintain this?"
Lian Yun controlled the Soul Sword as it swept back and nodded, "I can't determine that yet; it will require some time to adjust. At that point, it should be able to sustain continuously."
Zhuang Wuxue's eyes sparkled with excitement as she nodded and then shouted towards the back, "Yaochi Disciples, first assist the Disciple of the Sword Spirit Sect in moving to the city gate, then help them recover." She then turned towards the Lone Wanderer area and asked, "Do you all accept Bai Yun's assistance? Please express your agreement quickly."
"Yes~~"
This was nearly everyone's response among those who had gone into battle.
Although Lian Yun's attack swept through, it did not annihilate all of the Chaos Beasts; even if they were not killed, they were left severely injured.
For those engaged in battle, as long as they focused on Lian Yun's attack, it felt as if they had stumbled upon a treasure trove. Moreover, the danger level had significantly decreased.
So how could they possibly oppose this?
Zhuang Wuxue nodded and addressed the Lone Wanderers on the city wall: "We will still distribute our gains among you. Please divide yourselves into three groups and head to the other three sides of the city wall."
For the kings atop the city walls, their only option was to attack from a distance, and the chances of killing the Chaos Beast were extremely slim; they could only provide minimal support.
Their involvement in the battle stemmed from a desire to ensure that Xianyang City did not fall behind and become the weakest link, thus incurring punishment from Yin Yang City.
With Zhuang Wuxue's promise secured, they felt fortunate, relieved that they had initially been assigned to this side. If they had gone to the other side, it would have meant two rewards.
So, almost everyone cheered and quickly retreated before charging toward the areas of the other three city walls.
What followed was somewhat predictable: the defenders on the three walls were first puzzled by their sudden arrival. However, upon hearing about Lian Yun's exploits, nearly everyone was left both shocked and overjoyed.
Firstly, with Lian Yun's astonishing combat prowess, the number of Chaos Beasts he could kill was hard to estimate. Although only kings had come to assist for now, it still counted as additional support.
With Lian Yun stationed at one wall, Zhuang Wuxue might be able to break free and join the fight at another wall.
In this way, Xianyang City would likely avoid becoming the weakest link.
It was as if they had gained a minimum assurance; the morale of the main fighters on the three walls surged instantly.
