Chapter 1: The Strange Forging Effect
Following Qian Duoduo downstairs, Lian Yun received over fifty thousand Diamond Spirit Coins from him. This amount was quite substantial, so Lian Yun accepted it without hesitation, naturally refraining from asking if there were any remaining White Spirit Coins, a question that would seem rather impolite.
Afterward, he followed Qian Duoduo into a warehouse and saw three boxes of white ore.
"These are Supreme White Ice Stones. We have spared no expense in collecting them from around the world. However, over the past few decades, we have only managed to prepare three sets. One set is for Young Master Yun to practice with, while the other two sets should be treated with utmost care."
Given the financial power of the Treasure Alliance and their willingness to invest heavily, it was evident how rare these White Ice Stones were, having taken decades to gather just three sets.
Lian Yun nodded solemnly and stored the three boxes of ore in his spatial pouch. He also planned to leverage his connections to see if he could gather more.
It was important to note that his success rate for forging Supreme equipment was about twenty percent, which was already quite high. However, he felt that his chances of creating a Half-Emperor Set might be less than one percent.
With only three sets of materials available, if luck were on his side, he might manage to forge one set. Yet, some things should not be left to chance.
Thus, Lian Yun intended to collect several more sets of materials just in case. Given his status as a Blacksmith, along with four nominal senior brothers and several esteemed Master Blacksmiths he had befriended, as well as his connections with the Xianjian Sect and Yaochi, he believed it wouldn’t be too difficult to gather two more sets.
However, Lian Yun thought it unlikely that one type of material could create an entire set. Therefore, he planned to look for additional materials and asked Qian Duoduo to take him to another materials warehouse.
After half a day of selecting and sifting through options, he finally chose some white or transparent materials before leaving the Treasure Alliance and arriving at Azure Pavilion.
Upon entering, he noticed that there were very few customers in the store, and those present looked at him with strange expressions and auras. Nevertheless, Lian Yun paid little mind to this and instead went over to sit quietly with Lan Ruoxuan.
However, before Lian Yun could settle down, Meng Yixuan approached him with a worried expression. Seeing that Lian Yun appeared unharmed eased her anxiety slightly, but she couldn’t help but ask, "Is there anything wrong with your health, Yun Di?"
"Haha! If the Half Emperor were to intervene, I truly wouldn't guarantee anything. However, if it's just the Peerless Monarch, even with a sneak attack, it would still be difficult to take my life."
It wasn't arrogance; he simply hoped that Meng Yixuan could feel at ease.
Meng Yixuan understood this and shot a glare at Lian Yun in annoyance, but she soon relaxed.
If she could withstand a sneak attack from the Peerless Monarch, she was confident that in a direct confrontation, the Peerless Monarch would also struggle to take Lian Yun's life.
Meanwhile, Lan Ruoxuan, after persuading Meng Yixuan to calm down, looked at Lian Yun with a serious expression and asked, "Can you sense the difference in strength?"
Lian Yun smiled slightly and nodded.
Qin Kui's full-force sneak attack had revealed his true capabilities. Even if he could improve further, there was no way he could surpass Lian Yun's speed unless he broke through to the Demigod Level.
Neither Lian Yun nor Lan Ruoxuan speculated on how likely that breakthrough might be.
If Qin Kui were to reach the Demigod Level, no matter how strong Lian Yun became, he would essentially be doomed. In this realm, the Half Emperor held significant power; even if someone were killed within the city, they would likely face only limited punishment rather than imprisonment.
Thus, considering the Half Emperor's influence meant that it ultimately came down to who reached the Demigod Level first—Lian Yun or Qin Kui—one would undoubtedly perish.
There was no need to dwell on it further.
Afterward, Lan Ruoxuan checked on Lian Yun's condition and confirmed that he wasn't shaken by Qin Kui's assassination attempt. She then decided on a whim to play a piece titled Frosty Cold Realm for him.
Although her preparation was lacking and she wasn't using the Yin Yang Guqin—which would reduce the effectiveness significantly—this opportunity was rare, and Lian Yun gladly accepted. He informed Azure Drift and Meng Yixuan of her performance.
He vividly remembered how Lan Ruoxuan appeared after playing Frosty Cold Realm, looking as if she had just been pulled out of water, frail and delicate.
Although it was a spur-of-the-moment decision, Lan Ruoxuan had spent nearly six hours preparing before she began to play.
As the first notes rang out, Lian Yun did not think much about it; he focused entirely on absorbing the music that filled the air.
Once the piece concluded, Lian Yun took his leave.
Upon returning to Xianyang City Mansion, he prepared to craft equipment for the Ghost Slaves. However, before that, Three Golden Hairs went to assess the condition of the Ghost Slaves.
During the Dream of the Ancient Times, Lian Yun had researched all of the Ghost Slaves' Soul Gear, but that only reflected what he perceived about their state prior to the Dream of the Ancient Times.
After experiencing the Dream of the Ancient Times, the Ghost Slaves had gained certain insights and growth. This was especially true for Chen Er Gou, who had found his own path in combat, which made Lian Yun particularly pleased.
It didn't matter how strong he became; as long as he could find a direction to move forward, that was enough.
From the experience in the Dream of the Ancient Times until now, the Ghost Slaves had all shown considerable growth. Therefore, Lian Yun wanted to understand them in detail and forge Soul Gear that would be more suitable for them.
However, the Soul Gear Lian Yun had developed during the Dream of the Ancient Times was actually designed based on each Ghost Slave's personality, preferences, and special abilities. Thus, aside from Chen Er Gou, there were very few modifications needed for the others' equipment.
In less than half a day, he finalized their Soul Gear forms and spent another half day determining Chen Er Gou's Soul Gear.
Once everything was confirmed, his main body and Clone City began forging Soul Gear for the Ghost Slaves.
Lian Yun planned for Chen Er Gou to follow Yan Clone, so he started by crafting Soul Gear specifically for Chen Er Gou.
Then, an unexpected event occurred.
Because Chen Er Gou's path was somewhat similar to Xiao Chengzhong's—still as a statue but moving like a rabbit when in action—he was treading the path of an assassin, aiming for a single lethal strike.
So even though the Soul Gear had little weight, Lian Yun still designed a set of night-walking attire for him. It consisted of not many components: a tight-fitting suit, tight pants, a pair of shoes, a seven-hole hood, and a slender sword.
With these five simple pieces of equipment, Lian Yun initially had no thoughts about them being upgradeable. However, after forging them, he found that both the shoes and pants surprisingly possessed upgradeable attributes.
This made Lian Yun think that perhaps it was due to his contract with Ghost Slave that he understood Chen Er Gou's essence so well, which led to the emergence of these upgradeable attributes.
However, when Lian Yun focused on forging a complete set of upgradeable gear for Chen Er Gou, he ended up forging hundreds of tight suits without a single one possessing upgradeable attributes.
The previous pants and shoes seemed like a complete fluke.
This left Lian Yun feeling helpless and regretful.
Nevertheless, Lian Yun quickly adjusted his mindset and stopped pondering the issue of upgrades. Just as he was preparing to forge equipment for other Ghost Slaves, he received a notification from the butler that Qiu ChujI was seeking an audience outside.
